Chapter 39

**Cole**



I walk into my office to find Marcus waiting for me. “So, anything in particular or just normal business?”

“Mostly normal stuff. I wanted to talk about Alpha Ryan coming to the ceremony tonight though. You invited him, remember, since you have become allies in the fight against Gerrard. With what we now know happened between the Blue Moon Pack and Winters family, the Moon Stone Pack, I didn’t know if you had a plan to deal with the situation.”

Oh shoot! I hadn’t even been thinking about that lately. I had completely forgotten that I had invited him. I hope Winter will be all right with him being there. It is too late to uninvite him now. Not to mention that doing so could hurt our alliance. I will need to let her know that Alpha Ryan is coming. I do not want her to be surprised that he is there.

“Marcus, what do you think about this whole Blue Moon Pack and Moon Stone Pack thing? Do you think Alpha Ryan knows about Winters family? I'm sure Gerrard does.”

“I don’t know if Alpha Ryan knows about Winter. We should assume that he knows that his father sacked the Moon Stone Pack. What is unclear though is if he knows why, or if he realizes that Winter is from that pack. I also believe you are right. Gerrard knows who she is. I'm sure of it.”

“Concerning Alpha Ryan’s presence tonight, I advise increasing security around the ceremony while he is here but keep it low key. So, he does not become suspicious.”

“Yes, that is a sound plan.” I nod in agreement. “Let’s make it happen.”

Just then my mother walks in. “It’s nice to see you mother. To what do I owe the pleasure of this visit?” I say sarcastically.

Ignoring my remark, she asks, ”Marcus, could I have a moment with my son please?”

“Of course.” he replies. “Alpha, I will just be waiting in the next room.”

As he exits, I motion my mother to take a seat across from me at my desk.

“What can I do for you mom?”

“Cole, you really need to listen. I have told you Winter should not be your Luna. Now before you rip into me let me just tell you why.”

She cannot be serious. Besides tonight being the Luna ceremony, she knows Winter is already Luna. This ceremony is for the pack to know her and make it official.

“Look Cole she is unruly. She doesn’t know what it takes to be Luna. She hasn’t been in a pack for a long time. Not to mention her utter disrespect for decorum. She is uncivilized and will push this attitude onto your children, she already has on you.”

I cannot stand this. “Mother you have no idea who Winter is. You know nothing of her past. She does know how to be a Luna. I should not need to even tell you this because you already know. She is already your Luna, and I would appreciate it if you will remember that and show her the respect she deserves.”

“Cole please don’t make this mistake.” she begs.

I sigh and pinch the bridge of nose. “Mom do you think you are wiser than the Goddess. Winter is my mate. She was made for me. Nothing you say can change that. This argument you keep pushing is over. Please leave, and if you are planning to be nasty tonight just don’t come.”

she stands to leave. Before she walks out, she says, “you are choosing wrong. Remember it did not have to happen like this.”

What does that even mean? Marcus comes in and we get back to work.



**Winter**



We get back to the pack house, and after stopping in the kitchen for a snack, we head up to Gales room so I can do her hair. I give her an updo and she loves it. I even convince her not to wear makeup. She looks beautiful. She is apprehensive, but I reminded her it is my day, and she caves. She gets into her dress. It is dark green witch is to my liking since the color I chose for tonight is forest green. Then we head up to my room to do my hair and so that I can get into my dress. It was brought up while Gale and I were in the kitchen.

As we approach the door, I smell something very sweet and familiar. It isn't Cole, It’s Charlotte! I open the door to find her laying in my bed. She appears to be asleep. The bed sheets are all messed up like she has just been having sex with someone. I'm sure that bitch is naked in the bed I share with Cole. My mate’s and my bed!

Gale freezes in the doorway with her mouth open in shock. I can feel my insides starting to boil. I sniff the air again. Hang on there is no sent of arousal in the air. So, she hasn’t been sleeping with anyone. Either Charlotte is here to try to seduce Cole, or she is trying to get me to think she slept with him. Does she really still think that she can come between me and my Cole. My mind is racing, but there is one thought that keeps drowning out all the others in my head. this Bitch is going to die.

I walk up to the side of the bed, is Charlotte really going to keep pretend to be asleep. I grab her arm and drag her out of the bed. Then I proceed to pummel her. She screams and cries as she struggles to get me to stop. Her defense is week though and I do not plan on stopping. Her eyes roll back into her head, and she stops moving. I am still beating the ever-living shit out of her. I warned her, and she did not listen. So, now she is done.

Suddenly Cole's mother appears in the room, and there are pack warriors pulling me back.

“See, she is trying to kill Charlotte. She may have already killed her. Take her to the dudgeon.”

I mind link to Cole to let him know what is happening, and I start to fight off the guards. I feel something hit me hard in the head, and my vision blurs. I guess they were expecting me to fight and acted accordingly. I hope my mind link got through to Cole. If not though then I can only hope that Gale will fill him in. I fall to the floor. The world is going dark. What just happened?
