WORKING OFFICIALLY

I was told to wait at the gate by the security men. After waiting for few minutes, I saw Mrs. Kate walking towards me, She was smartly dressed in a white straight cut gown with her flat shoes. Her hair was packed with a net covering it. I kept on admiring her looks, I didn't even know when she got to were I was standing.
" Clara, right? " Mrs. kate asked me with a smile on her face waving at the security men.
"Hm.. Ye... yes ma Clara" I said jolting back to reality.
" Nice to have you here, come with me " She said tapping me on my shoulder while I walked after her, managing to carry my heavy luggages.
We passed through the back door instead of the front, she said we were only allowed to go into the house through the back door. There was another building at the back of the mansion, it was quite the same size of my house. It was the maid quarters,two maids stayed in a room. I was taken to my room, it looked nice and quite comfortable and thankfully it wasn't a bunk bed. Mrs Kate told me the bed by the left was mine and that was my corner.
" Woow" I didn't even know when I said that aloud, I noticed Mrs. Kate took a quick gaze at me.
" Just take your time to arrange your things and also freshen up, that the bathroom over there by the door, your room mate will be coming here by 9:00pm to show you around the house" Mrs Kate left the room after handling a white gown to me just like the one she was putting on, but the only difference was that hers had an embroidery at the top while mine was plain. There was also an apron, with a flat black shoe which was exactly my size by the look of things. I laid on the bed for some minute before I stared arranging my cloth, putting them inside the wardrobe very close to my bed. There was a table by the edge of my bed, I arranged my books there. When I was done, I kept my box under the bed alongside the provision mum had given me. After I was done with everything, I brought out my phone to check the time, it was 7:30pm, I still had about 2 hours left.I took my bath and was about to sleep when it dawn on me that I hadn't call my mum nor Jenny, I picked up my phone and dialed her number.
"Hello, Hello mum" I said holding my phone with my two hands very close to my ear "Hello mum, if you can hear me I can't hear you. I guess the reception here is pretty bad, I just wanted to let you know that, I have arrived and things are going well bye. Make sure you take care of yourself, I would try calling tomorrow " I said with disappointment as I am unable to speak with her due to bad reception. After some minutes, Danielle called and we had been talking for long. The door creaked open, I saw a young lady in her early twenties probably 22, I wasn't sure though..
" Hi, I'm Renata your roommate and I am here to take you on a tour in and out of the mansion" She stood by the door smiling at me, looking round my corner. I could see her eyes going through my wardrobe to my books, my bed and back to me.
" Oh, great just give me 5 seconds" I bid Daniella goodbye getting up from my bed to follow her.
Renata took me to the kitchen firstly, the kitchen was as big as Mr. Mark's eatery if not larger than it. Next was the dining, the dining had it own room, it was very large although it didn't have a door there by connecting it to the living room. The table was made of glass with had a flowery design all over it. I was shocked when Renata said the chairs in the living room and the dining are made of gold and that they are never allowed to sit on it nor even coming close to it or else they would face the punishment. I wondered what the punishment was going to be if not being sacked. Well I wasn't going to sit on it even though I felt the urge to do so.
While we walked, I met other maids who were going about with their different duties. Next Renata took me to the room on the first floor although we didn't get to enter. She just told me the owner of the rooms.
" Now lastly on the first floor, this room here belong our master personal body guard "
" The master has a personal body guard? How cool" I said touching the doors while we walked to the second floor.
" You had better stop touching those doors" She said, it sounded like a warning. " Now the second floor. This door by the left is the master's office never go in there unless you are permitted to do so. It was only his personal maid that cleaned his office, but few months ago she ran away. Some maids said the master was too harsh on her"
" Wowww, I thought being his personal maid was something to be proud of" I said confused.
" Believe me, it's not...Try your possible best not to ever cross part with the master just like me. Anyways I guess it's because I am usually based in the kitchen" She said while we got to the end of the hallway. " this door here always stay locked, nobody except the master has ever gone into this room, not even his personal body guard nor his best friend, absolutely no one" she said in a very weird manner.
" Where is the Master's room?" I asked her out of curiosity.
" By your right, the door in the middle, that's his room. His room is very large and exotic, it like a combination of three rooms in one. I couldn't help but stare in awe. Now let go outside. " And yeah before I forget the third floor is the Master's swimming pool"
"What? Swimming pool? Why is it inside the house and not outside?" I asked, this was my first time of hearing something like that. All my life I have always known that swimming pools were usually outside. I was perplexed by what I had just heard, Renata took the moment to laugh at me.
Renata showed me the laundry room, the car parks, the gardens, the three gate that lead to different roads.. She also introduced me to some of the maids and other workers, they all seem friendly. While we were heading back to the mansion, I noticed another house behind a very tall tree.
" What that over there" I asked Reneta out of curiosity.
" A house obviously" she chuckled
" That's right, it is a house, how do I ask the question? Hmmm" I said as I was looking at the clear blue sky. " I mean, Does any body lives there? , what's the house for, Are we allowed to go there, Is there"
" Stop, the answer to all the questions you asked and the ones you have in your mind is a capital no" Reneta said interrupting me. " Only if you want to die, then you can go there because death himself lives there" She continued but this time in a very scary and weird manner which made me laugh a bit. But I couldn't help but wonder what's in that house.
" But" I was interrupted again
"Ahah, no but. We are done for now let get in and make our self useful" We walked back into the mansion and headed to the kitchen immediately. Mrs kate was in the kitchen when we entered, she gave me a wry smile which I returned. I stood at the kitchen as I watched what she was doing. She was preparing pasta, I wondered why she was cooking dinner late, dinner is usually served at least 6 not few minutes to 10.
" Ma'am, is this the time dinner is being served? " I asked ma'am Benita to be sure.
" Of course no. The master just ordered for it now, he didn't eat the food I made for dinner so I suppose he became hungry" She said cutting the onions while the order maids were cutting the order item that needed to be cut.
" Ohhhhhh, I get" I said nodding my head in affirmation.
I watched her pour the vegetable oil into a pan, added the onions before putting the grinded tomato, she got an urgent emergency call, her sister has being rushed to the hospital. She told me to take over from where she stopped. Why me, today was my first day, I ain't even based in the kitchen, but I guess her mind wasn't with her at that moment. Other maid were looking at me mockingly. Pasta wasn't a difficult thing to prepare beside it was my favourite food and I prepare it very well. I continued from where she stop and in few minutes the pasta was ready and was well garnish.
" I hope she cooks it to the master taste, or else we are going to be watching a movie this night" I turned back to look at the person that said that. It was a young girl but although she looked older than me, she was laughing profusely she didn't even know when I turned to look at her. She was engrossed in her mockery.
When I was done, I went back to my room, I needed to prepare for school. Other maids that are not student are to retire by 11pm while student by 9:30 and surprisingly, I was the only student. The girl mocking me had taken the food to the master, I wondered if I actually cooked it to his taste. The last thing I need now is to me summoned and being shouted at.
