Chapter 23
Alison understood, but she just felt sorry for her.
Soon Lucas arrived and called Hilda to ask which room she was in.
Alison stood up. "You guys talk. I'll leave first."
Hilda frowned. "I'll take you out, of course I have to send you back. You know Lucas too, why leave?"
"Stay as an audience?" Alison blinked and chuckled lightly. "Besides, you've been drinking, how can you send me? I'll just take a taxi home myself."
Helplessly, Hilda said: "Then call me when you get home."
"Okay!"
Hilda sent Alison out the door and unexpectedly met Lucas rushing over in the corridor - he wore a business suit with alcohol on his body; it seemed like he had come from some social event - with a pair of gold-rimmed glasses on his elegant face as he greeted Alison naturally by Hilda's side.
He walked over to Hilda and took her hand very naturally.
After saying goodbye to both of them, Alison left alone. The waiter at the door asked if she needed any help?
Just as Alison was about to speak, she suddenly saw a group of people surrounding Alexander coming out.
She politely declined the waiter's offer for help and stood by Alexander's car waiting for that group of people to leave before turning around and speaking softly: "Mr. Rosier!"
Alexander turned around; his dark phoenix eyes were deep like night as they looked at her calmly: "Finished eating?"
"Yeah!" Alison nodded slightly and said: "Thank Mr.Rosier for today’s matter."
Alexander put his hands in his pockets; tall figure towering above others with handsome features still intact while replying casually: “No need thanks,we helped each other.”
"Huh?" Alison was somewhat puzzled; what did she do for him?
"No big deal." Alexander said calmly: "Billy told me you agreed to be his girlfriend, is that true?"
"He told you?" Alison showed a few expressions of surprise and speechlessness.
"Yeah."
Alison laughed. "He's deliberately retaliating against me."
Alexander raised an eyebrow. "What happened?"
Alison briefly recounted the incident where Billy had someone trouble her but was exposed by her and then beaten up.
The sparkling lights on the roadside reflected in the man's dark eyes as he listened to Alison's words; they were shimmering with waves of light. He first showed some astonishment, then smiled slightly at the corners of his lips.
After a while, he nodded calmly: "Well done!"
Alison smiled too; her beautiful eyes were clear and lively with moist lips under the light making all her features come alive.
Alexander looked away from her gaze towards behind her instead: "Are you alone? I'll have my driver take you home!"
"Thank you, but no need!" Alison politely declined: “My friend went to drive here and will be coming soon. Mr.Rosier can go ahead.”
Without saying anything else, Alexander turned around and got into his car.
Watching Alexander’s car merge into traffic on the main road, Alison slowly walked towards the side of the road after realizing that she seemed to have eased up quite a bit with him - probably because Alexander didn't like Billy either so when it came to dealing with Billy they both had common goals which naturally put them on one front line together.
Looking out at neon lights outside through taxi window, she thought about Annabel and Linda again - Annabel was fake with Lucas, but what about Linda?
Was she really Alexander's lover?
Hilda could still openly hold Lucas accountable as his wife while she had to politely talk things over with Alexander...
She was such a failure!
