Chapter 27
"I am an adult, and also your teacher. I should not be bought with money. It's my fault!"
...
"Not bad!"
Alexander suddenly spoke up, looking at the two through the rearview mirror. "You guys are so loyal to each other? Why don't you become sworn brothers now?"
Alison and Ares remained silent.
Alexander paused for a moment and said to Ares, "It's not wrong to act bravely in defense of others when it is safe for yourself, but when dealing with classmates, you don't have to use such heavy-handed methods."
Ares obediently replied with an "Oh".
"Overall, you didn't do anything wrong in this matter. I won't punish you!" Alexander immediately smiled broadly and said: "Thank you Alexander!"
"But," Alexander's tone became serious again. "What about letting Miss Grey impersonate a parent?"
Alison was about to speak up when she saw Alexander's deep gaze in the mirror and immediately shut her mouth.
Ares lowered his head and said meekly: "I was wrong. I won't do it again!"
"Well, not only must one know their mistake but they must also be able to correct it!" Alexander slowed down his voice and said lightly: "There is still one class left; go attend it."
"Yes!" Ares responded before getting off the car. Before leaving he looked back at Alison worriedly saying: “Alexander forgave me; can you forgive Miss Grey too?”
Looking into Ares' pure eyes made Alison’s heart soften.
"Don’t worry,” Alexander assured him as he watched them leave from inside the car. “I won’t dismiss her.”
Once they were gone there were only Alison and Alexander left in the car; things had become awkward between them.
Just as Alison was about to apologize again she saw that thin lips of Alexanders lift slightly. He spoke in a nonchalant tone, “Has your IQ dropped to that of an elementary school student? You said you were his aunt and thought the teacher would believe it?”
Alison's face turned pale as she sternly replied: "First of all, elementary school students can also have high IQs. It was my fault for lying and not setting a good example for Ares. You can dismiss me if you want but you don't need to insult me or drag others into this. Also…” She paused briefly before continuing with a serious expression, “Ares said that since he helped you successfully complete the task, he will persuade you to double my salary."
Alexander nodded slowly and calmly responded: "Ares has made progress in his studies; I did consider giving you a raise." Alison felt relieved.
"But now there won't be one," Alexander continued.
Alison remained silent.
