Chapter 26

In the afternoon, Alison took a leave from work and school to accompany Ares to his school. When they arrived at the school, they went straight to the homeroom teacher's office. However, the teacher was not there. Other teachers who knew that Alison was a parent coming to solve some issues were polite and offered her a glass of water while she waited.

Alison overheard two teachers whispering about her: "Who is she?" "A student's parent." "She looks so young! She could be mistaken for a student herself!"

Ares whispered to Alison reassuringly, "Don't worry, everything will be fine. I'll explain to our teacher later that Alexander likes younger women."

Alison thought silently to herself that men just like younger women in general and didn't need any explanation.

As more teachers came into the room and greeted Ares warmly with compliments on his recent academic progress, Alison decided it would be best if they moved elsewhere so as not to disturb their work. She led Ares into an adjacent conference room where they waited for about five minutes until someone entered through the door wearing a blue striped suit and black-framed glasses.

"Auntie Two has arrived!" exclaimed Ares as he stood up.

Alison stepped forward with a gentle smile and introduced herself saying, "Mr. Richard, I am Ares' auntie two."

Mr. Richard looked surprised but then smiled back saying,"Oh! Auntie Two is here too! Just in time because I also called Alexander here." He turned around towards another person entering behind him saying,"Mr.Rosier how coincidental your wife is also here!"

Suddenly turning around after hearing Mr.Richard’s words , Alison met eyes with Alexander whose gaze was dark as ink causing her mind go blank momentarily . Even Ares was startled by this sudden appearance of his uncle and nervously exclaimed, "Uncle Two!"

Alexander's gaze swept over the two of them with an indiscernible expression before he uttered a nonchalant "Hmm."

Mr. Richard then explained to Ares that he had called his father who was currently overseas and gave him Alexander’s contact information instead. He didn't expect that Alexander would bring Auntie Two along.

Apologizing for the inconvenience caused, Alison said,"It's alright. Ares thought you were busy so I came in your place."

"Of course, anyone is welcome here," replied Mr.Richard warmly.

Alexander looked at Alison deeply and said,"Take Ares outside to wait for me while I handle this matter."

Alison nodded repeatedly without daring to look at Alexander as she quickly led Ares out of the office.

Once they were outside, her face changed immediately as she glared at Ares saying ,"Didn't you say he wouldn't find out?"

Ares defended himself by saying ,"The teacher asked me to call my parents but I didn’t know she would secretly call my dad behind our backs!"

"I'm going to be killed because of you!" Alison gritted her teeth in anger.

Alexander drove himself there and arrived an hour later with Alison and Ares sitting quietly in the back seat trying their best not to draw attention. After taking several phone calls regarding business matters from his company on the way there, Alexander finally hung up his phone once they parked on the side of the road.

Alison immediately spoke up saying,"Mr.Rosier ,I am sorry for what happened earlier . It was wrong of me to lie about being Auntie Two .I did not set a good example for my nephew or myself.I apologize both on behalf of myself and Ares.”

Ares quickly added,”It wasn’t Miss Grey’s fault! It was all mine! I forced her to pretend to be my auntie two.”

"It was my mistake. As an adult, I should have a better sense of right and wrong," Alison said.

"It has nothing to do with you!" Ares defended her saying ,"You are just taking our money so it's only natural that you listen to me."
