Chapter 16 - Early Morning Visitor

It was the very early hours of the morning. The room was still shrouded in darkness other than the moonlight that shone through the window. Kai was always a light sleep and had woken up to the sound of strange shuffling in the bed.

He rolled over to face Adalyn and then sat up in the bed. She was mumbling to herself and was throwing her head around. She sounded distressed.

“Adalyn?” Kai spoke softly. It looked like she was having a nightmare.

“No, stop!” she called out. “I won’t leave without them! Don’t take them away from me!!”

Kai crawled over to her side of the bed and placed his arms on her shoulders.
“Adalyn? Wake up” he called out to her a bit more forcefully.

She continued to writhe uncomfortably in the bed. “Adalyn, wake up!” he called again. Suddenly, she stilled. It was almost as if someone had pulled the plug from an electrical device. Kai couldn’t work out what was going on.

“That was odd. Perhaps whatever she was dreaming about had passed?” he questioned himself. Kai ran his hand across her face and pulled back some of her hair behind her ear. Her breathing had calmed right back down, almost as if nothing unusual had happened at all. After looking at her for a couple more minutes he rolled back on to his side of the bed. He didn’t want to wake her if he didn’t have to and she seemed to have passed whatever was disturbing her sleep.

“Hmmm… strange” he thought. As Kai started to fall back to sleep, he felt Adalyn’s hand run under his top and over on to his chest. Kaiden’s eyes flew back open. “Hey, you’re awake, did you have a bad dream?” Kai asked curiously. He wondered if her touchy feely approach was her attempt at trying to settle herself after her nightmare.

Kai got no response.

Instead, Adalyn’s hand continued to smooth down across his chest until she reached the waistband of his trousers.

“What is she doing?” Kai questioned himself. Was she suddenly trying to seduce him? If she was playing around, she was definitely living dangerously trying to mess with him.

“Adalyn? What are you doing?” Kai asked again. Her head was under the bed sheet and he was struggling to make her out in the dark.

After her hand reached his waistband, they suddenly dipped inside his pants. Something wasn’t right. “Woah there!” Kai called out to her, surprised at her sudden attempt of foreplay.
As Kai went to grab her hand, she pinned both of his hands to his sides by his wrists.

“What the…?” Kai called out. Adalyn slowly lifted her head out under the bed sheets. As the light from the moon streaming in from the window caught her face, Kai noticed her eyes were pitch black. Her wolf had completely taken over her again.

“Oh! Now I see…” Kai crooned softly. “This is the second time that we meet”

Kai was curious as to how her wolf was still able to completely take over her like this whilst still suffering the side effects of the wolfsbane cuffs that she had on before. He had mentally noted before that her wolf first took over when she started to panic or was in a heightened state of stress. Perhaps her nightmare invoked the same feelings and conditions. It was like her wolf was taking over as a means of trying to protect her, but from what?

This time around her wolf didn’t seem aggressive towards him at all. When he subdued her before her wolf seemed to accept him as her mate and quietly yielded, but her wolf seemed to have a different agenda this time around.

She smiled seductively at him and then straddled his lap. Whilst he could see that her wolf had fully taken over, she was still in human form and still looked like the girl that he knew, except for the black eyes. Kai’s wolf stirred in him, drawn out by his mate’s wolf counterpart.

“Now this is naughty” he whispered softly. “You know you’re not supposed to be doing this without Adalyn’s permission”. Kai tested moving his hands but she held them down firm.

Her wolf wiggled her hips suggestively, rubbing herself over Kai’s cock and it jerked in response to her movements. She was trying to seduce her mate.

“Shit!” Kai bit out, he couldn’t help but start to get aroused by this. This was Adalyn’s incredible body writhing on top of him and his body was reacting instinctively to hers.

“Stop” Kai said with a bit more authority in his voice. He could feel his wolf starting to fight him in response. She wanted to mate with him and have him claim her then and there. She rubbed her sex against him again and Kai could feel her wetness starting to permeate through her underwear.

His eyes flashed black as his wolf responded to this. His wolf was desperate to fuck her and she was currently offering herself up to him on a plate. This was not good. Kai knew that if he slept with her in this form, she would never forgive him. With the way his wolf was reacting to her, he also couldn’t trust himself not to bite and claim her, and that was not an option at this point in time. He was slowly reaching his limit at being able to stay in control of the situation as her wolf continued grinding herself against him. The smell of her arousal was now thick in the air.

“Play time is over! That’s enough!” Kai flipped her over on to her back and collared her throat with his hand. With his other hand he held both of her hands together above her head. She tried to lift her head up and Kai gently pushed her head back in to the pillow to assert his dominance over her. His hand around her throat was firm but gentle. He didn’t want to hurt her, just subdue her and get her to back down. Kai’s eyes turned black. As much as his wolf was trying to fight him on this, Kai was able to draw enough energy from him to try and subdue her without letting his wolf’s desire to mate with her take over. It had taken him years to get this kind of control over his wolf and he wasn’t about to back down now.

“Release her…” Kai said authoritatively. His voice was calm and assertive. He was trying to force her wolf to relinquish her hold on Adalyn’s body.

Adalyn’s wolf smirked then tightened her thighs around Kai’s waist. It was like she was trying to taunt him. She hoped that if she prolonged her attempts to seduce him that Kai’s wolf would fully take over and mate her but Kai’s control was too strong.

Kai leant in to her ear and whispered “We can play this little game for as long as you want but you’re not gonna win here”. He applied a little bit more pressure to her throat. This had the desired effect. Realising that she wasn’t getting anywhere she started to relax her thighs and submit to his words.

“Good girl…” Kai praised her as he whispered sweetly in to her ear. “Now go to sleep. You’ll get what you want in the end, but not yet. Be…patient”.

Kai pulled away from her ear to see in her face how she was responding. Resigned to his dominance, her eyes slowly began to roll to the back of her head as she released control of Adalyn’s body. As soon as she went limp, Kai released his hand on her throat and his eyes went back to blue as he released his wolf at the same time.

He rolled back on to his back on his side of the bed. Relief washed over him and he started to breathe more heavily. He didn’t realise that he had been holding his breath in concentration. It had been a real test of his control to keep both his and her wolf in check and stop himself from being seduced. His strained hard-on was proof of that.

He turned his head to look at her. She was back asleep, breathing softly as though nothing had happened.

Her wolf was strong, really strong. He could feel it. He had thought that before during their last encounter, when he had managed to subdue her by using his alpha tone, or so he had originally thought, but it more likely seemed that she had voluntarily submitted to him this time around purely because he was her mate. She didn’t seem recognise him as her alpha at all.

This confirmed it in his mind. She had to originate from outside of the Southern Territory and she had to have some noble blood in her for wolf to be this strong. Was she purposefully hiding who she really was? When he had discussed her origins with her last night, he hadn’t sensed any level of deception from her. That and her brown hair also suggested that she couldn’t be a noble but she had to, right? Kai had so many questions he couldn’t answer.

He exhaled deeply and stared up at the ceiling. He wasn’t going to be able to figure this out tonight and he was too tired to try. He just hoped that this wasn’t going to be a frequent occurrence or he knew that he’d struggle to hold out from such temptation.
