Chapter 21 - Dangerous

Adalyn stirred then opened her eyes. She had accidentally fallen asleep on the sofa, in the middle of the day and somebody had covered her over with a blanket. She stretched and tried to make sense of her surroundings.

"Hey beautiful." A recognisable voice drew her attention to the side of the room. Kai was sat in one of the armchairs reading a book. He had been patiently waiting for her to wake up alone. He closed the book and came up to sit beside her.

"I can't believe I fell to sleep in the middle of the day. I thought I slept pretty well last night too. I'm not sure why I'm so tired." She was blissfully unaware of her wolf's antics early this morning and Kai smiled knowing that was probably the reason why she was still tired.

Seeing Kai smile like he knew a secret, Adalyn suddenly felt embarrassed that she had been sleeping in front of Kai. "I hope I wasn't drooling." She ran a finger across her mouth just incase.

"As much as I would have loved to have seen that, I didn't spot any drool" Kai laughed.

She gave Kai a playful nudge in his side. "Where is everyone?" she asked. She scanned the room quickly noticing that there was nobody else in the room.

"They've headed back to the capital."

"Oh, I see..." Adalyn wanted to ask about the information that Arrow was supposed to be bringing him, but Kai didn't seem in a hurry to volunteer updates.

"I'm taking you back home." Kai swept a few strands of her hair out of her face and tucked it behind her ear. He was still trying to work out what had happened to her earlier outside the front of the house. He really wanted to ask her again, but didn't want them to part on bad terms if she remained firm on not talking about it, so he bit his tongue.

"I can go back home now? Does that mean you got the information that you wanted?" she asked.

"Sorta, I can take you back home like I promised but there are a few things I'm going to have to put in place to help keep you safe while I'm away."

"You're going away?" Adalyn questioned. She couldn't stop the sound of disappointment from coming through in her voice.

"It won't be for long. I can explain everything on the way." Kai continued to tuck a few other loose strands of hair behind her other ear. This time around, she closed her eyes and leant in to his hand as he touched her and Kai stilled to caress her face.

His touch was already starting to feel so natural to her. Like his hand should always be there. Like he should always be close and touching him. When she re-opened her eyes the look of 'wanting more' was evident on her face and Kai could see it. Adalyn licked her bottom lip instinctively almost in anticipation of a kiss.

"You're dangerous you know that." Kai's voice was more of a whisper now.

"What do you mean?" Adalyn replied, clearly unaware of how seductive she was being to him.

"The way that you licked your bottom lip. You look like you want me to kiss you."

Adalyn could feel the heat rising in her skin as he said those words. She did want him to kiss her but she didn't feel bold enough to say it out loud. She didn't have to though, her expression said it all.

Adalyn licked her bottom lip again without thinking and Kai squinted his eyes as he fixated on her mouth. "How could she have remained untouched all this time looking like this?" he thought to himself. He hoped that she didn't dare make this face in front of anybody else.

He leant in and claimed her lips with his. His kiss was more possessive and forceful this time around and Adalyn leaned in to take in as much of him as she could. Kai growled softly in her mouth as she moaned in pleasure.

After a few moments, Kai pulled back from her mouth, then slowly tilted her head back with his hand to expose her neck. Granting a lover access to your neck was a form of submission to a shifter and Adalyn granting him access so easily, to this sensitive part of her body had his wolf doing cartwheels.

Adalyn looked through hooded curious eyes to see what he was doing. Kai leant back in again but this time started applying soft sensuous kisses down the side of her neck.

"You're all mine Adalyn...you know that right?" Kai whispered against her throat in between kisses. He needed her to know that even without a claiming mark, she was his mate, and his alone.

Adalyn re-closed her eyes as she got lost in the moment. It felt like heaven and she leant back on the sofa to grant him more access to her neck.

"So responsive..." Kai responded with shallow breaths. He kissed her neck again. "This is why you're so dangerous."

Adalyn's eyes were glazed over in pleasure as she felt his hot breath against her skin. Her body wanted him. Even without her wolf, she felt possessed by her animal instincts. She would have offered herself to him but then felt uneasy about it afterwards.

"You would just let me have my way with you right now, wouldn't you? Even though you're not ready." He nipped at her neck then raked his canines, which had now descended, down the side of her throat. He couldn't wait till he could officially mark her in her claiming spot, at the crook of her neck and shoulder. He had to force himself not to.

All of these sensations were new to her but felt so addictive. Whatever he wanted from her, he could have it.

Once Kai got to the middle of her throat, he pulled a small section of her top down to expose a bit more of her skin, just below her collar bone. He kissed and licked at the centre, then stilled.

The anticipation of waiting for Kai to start kissing her again, had her incredibly heated.

Kai then bit down. Hard.

Adalyn winced as she took in both the pleasure and pain that his bite had. Being unable to leave a permanent mark in her claiming spot, he felt compelled to mark her body in some way, to just re-affirm himself and Pax that she was his, even if not officially for now. As he withdrew his teeth, blood started to seep from the small puncture wound. Kai swiftly started to lick it to aid it's healing. It wouldn't leave a permanent mark but would suffice in leaving evidence that he had been there.

This little action alone had helped to sate the possessive feeling that was still lingering from earlier when Arrow watched her laugh, and would also offer him some comfort when they were separated again. Kai exhaled deeply as the need to possess her started to ease.

Adalyn peered up at Kai from the sofa. She was sad that he had stopped and was already missing the warmth that he stirred in her. He looked back down at her on the sofa, all spread out with lust still lingering in her eyes.

"A few kisses and you've already turned in to a temptress." Kai smiled as he started to regain some of his composure. "You're gonna have to try and be a bit more on guard around me if you're not yet ready for more. You trust me more than I trust myself at the moment."

Adalyn wasn't really sure what 'more' specifically meant to Kai, but she knew that if it felt anything like those kisses or that bite, then she was definitely warming to the idea.

Kai traced his thumb softly over the bite he made just below her top's neckline. "Is it sore?"

She shook her head then sat up. She fingered his mark on her chest. He was hers just as much as she was his and this mark served as a visual reminder of that.

"We better get going if want to get back before nightfall. I'll drive us back."
