Kai led Rae up the path towards the manor house. As soon as they passed through the gates that led them in to the manor grounds, he turned left away from the main house and then led her towards one of the guest houses.

"Are we not staying in the main house?" she asked.

"No, I need you to myself tonight."

As they neared one of the guest houses, Rae's hand fell from his and she stopped outside the door

"What is it?" Kai asked.

Rae ran her hand up her chest. She started undoing the buttons on her shirt. When she got to the last button, she allowed her shirt to drop to the ground, revealing her white lace bra.

Kai raised both of his eyebrows in pleasant intrigue. "What are you doing?" he asked in fascination.

"Woah! I've never seen the moon look so big before." Rae changed subject abruptly. "It looks so beautiful. Don't you think?"

Kai briefly looked up to the moon where her attention was focused. As soon as he was distracted, Rae took off like a shot, in to the bushes.

Kai flicked back to where his mate once stood. She used the oldest trick in the book to get away, and he'd actually fallen for it. The same trick she always used when they were kids to get a head start.

He smirked in amusement. "Oh, you're going to regret that."

Rae couldn't help but giggle to herself as she took off. She quickly shifted in to her wolf then darted off across the moonlit field. For once, Tara and her were both on the same wavelength and enjoying the freedom that had been denied to them since they went on the run.

Tara scented the air as she ran. She could smell that Pax was already starting to catch-up to her.

*'That was a dirty trick you pulled back there. You're gonna pay for that'* Kai said through their mate link.

*'Oh yeah? Good luck with that.'* Tara upped her speed to put some more distance between them. She felt confident she could outrun him when it came to speed.

Tara took a quick look behind her to see if she could spot him. She couldn't sense that he was close anymore and she couldn't see any sign of him either. She chuffed a little snort in premature victory then continued onwards.

A rustle in some shrubs on her side, suddenly caught her attention. She couldn't scent anything from that direction and attributed it to some wildlife that might have gotten startled by her presence, but then she saw Pax's blue eyes reflecting back at her.

*'Gotcha!'* he yelled, as he leapt out at her sending her rolling across the green.

Tara quickly righted herself and took off again before Pax could follow up the tackle.

*'How did you catch up so quickly?!'*

*'You picked the wrong place for a chase. I know these grounds like the back of my hand and all the little shortcuts'*

*'Cheater! I couldn't even scent you'*

*'How did you think I ended up leading a covert operations team? Gotta pay attention to the wind. It's not hard to sneak up on someone when you stay downwind.'* As Rae had only recently gotten a handle or her wolf, he figured she would still be quite a novice when it came to hunting. Tara started bolting ahead but Kai kept up a few paces behind her. Whilst she was faster than him, he had the stamina to keep up with her.

Pax suddenly kicked in to second gear and quickly started speeding up alongside her.

*'No way!'* Rae called out in her mind. She couldn’t help but wonder if he had been toying with her this whole time. As Pax caught up alongside her, Tara tried to zig zag in to the long grass to try and lose him.

*'Oh no you don't!'* Pax nipped at her ankle to set her off balance. As she stumbled, Pax pounced at her. They both rolled over each other in to the long grass, until Pax had her pinned beneath him.

*'Game over. I win. Now shift back so I can claim my prize.'*

Tara bared her teeth and growled, clearly not yet ready to admit defeat and annoyed at being underneath an equally dominant wolf.

*'Rae'* Kai cautioned her.

Tara wriggled and snapped her teeth at him.

Seeing that she had no intention of giving up, Pax lowered his mouth to her throat and lightly held on to the loose bit of skin there. He growled softly. *'Submit baby, you lost this time.'*

The feel of his teeth against her neck finally made her give up the fight. *'Fine! But you won't be so lucky next time,'* Rae relented.

Pax released her throat as she shifted back. With the heat of the chase still in her blood, she panted as she lay naked in the long grass. She could hear Kai shifting back but she couldn't see him. As she went to sit up, she felt Kai's hand wrap around her ankle. He pulled her towards him, causing her to fall back on to her back. Rae looked up at Kai. His eyes were black with lust. "I warned you. I'm not going to be able to go easy on you."

Rae blinked, suddenly flustered by the look in his eyes. “Kai, we can’t. Not here…”
