Chapter 28 - Discipline
Kai’s eyes glowed red as he held on to the limp rogue shifter’s neck with his semi shifted hand. His body dropped heavily on to the forest floor as he released him from his grip.
Kai and his team had been deep within Eclipse Fang territory for 2 days and had staked out and killed several of the enemy shifters in their territory. They had put up a good fight and it was clear that they were trained soldiers and not random rogues who had strayed across the border.
Trace, who was in wolf form, released his bite from the neck of another one of the enemy shifters. He strode over to Kai and started communicating with him through the Blue Moon pack mind link.
“Would be nice if you saved some for the rest of us Kai, how many does that make now?” Trace asked.
“Nine” Kai replied verbally. He knelt down to examine the shifter he had just killed. He managed to attack him before he had a chance to shift and he was still dressed. Kai patted him down and found a few Sirran coins and a Sirran army regiment emblem on the inside of his jacket.
They were Sirran soldiers as he had predicted. They were definitely getting bolder just waltzing into Galas like this. Kai couldn’t quite work out what their objective could be though. Checking another one of his pockets, he found some papers with some names on it that he didn’t recognise. A few had been crossed out. It looked a bit like a hit list. *’Were they looking for someone?’* Kai asked himself. Kai folded it up and put it in his pocket. Despite their search efforts they found no sign of Grayson, the Eclipse Fang Alpha who had been reported missing. Kai could only hope that they had him held somewhere else or that he’d been taken back to Sirran. *‘But for what purpose?’* He asked himself.
“Where’s Nate?” Kai suddenly asked Trace. Hayley and Neo had been tasked to look a bit further ahead, but Kai had specifically told Nate to stay close to him and now he was missing. Somewhere along the route he had tailed off by himself.
Suddenly the sounds of wolves fighting could be heard in the distance. Kai took off in that direction like a shot, shortly followed by Trace, Hayley and Neo who had re-emerged from the side after hearing the commotion.
Kai arrived first. He reached a patch of sparse greenery where he saw two wolves fighting.
Nate who was in wolf form was pinned to the floor and was covered in bite marks inflicted by a much larger brown wolf stood above him. Blood soaked in to Nate’s grey fur. The brown wolf was repeatedly trying to snap at his neck. Nate pawed at his chest to try and get him off but he didn’t have enough power to kick off the weight of the large wolf on top of him. Just as the brown wolf went to go in for the kill, Kai managed to get his arm in between them and forced the brown wolf up and on to his back. The wolf bit down hard on to his arm severing the flesh there. Kai gritted his teeth from the pain as blood poured down his arm but he held form and pushed him down. Kai then flipped over him and wrapped his leg around his neck in a choke hold. The brown wolf released Kai’s arm from his mouth in a panic as he felt his airway being restricted.
Kai’s arm hissed as his hyper accelerated healing kicked in and instantly started stitching up the bite wound. Trace, Hayley and Neo had finally caught up and snarled at the wolf that Kai had pinned on the ground.
“Don’t attack!” Kai yelled back at his team mates. “I want this one alive.” Kai continued to tighten his leg around the wolf’s neck until the fight was choked out of him. Once he started to go limp, Kai loosened his grip on his neck and then released him. The wolf lay limp on the ground unconscious. A few moments later the enemy wolf shifted back into his human form. It was the remaining tenth Sirran soldier that they were looking for.
Nate had shifted back in to his human and was staring at the enemy shifter on the ground. “I had him Kai! I would have had him…” Before he could finish what he was saying Kai slammed Nate in to the tree behind him and pinned him to it by his throat using his forearm.
“WHAT DID I TELL YOU?!! I told you to stick by me! What the fuck were you doing over here by yourself?!” Kai was furious. His eyes continued to glow red as both he and Pax vented their anger. Trace, Hayley and Neo just looked on in their wolf forms.
Nate’s eyes dilated as he looked both scared and in awe at the power of the man in front of him. “I…I’m sorry. I sniffed him out and I thought I could take him.” Nate was struggling to support his weight and was standing on tip toes to try and stop himself from being held up completely by his throat.
“When I tell you to stay by me, then you stay by me! This strike was not about you going off on some one-man dick measuring contest to prove yourself as a man! Disobey me again and it won’t be the enemy that you have to worry about! Do I make myself clear?!”
Nate stared dumbfounded and overwhelmed by his alpha’s energy.
Not getting the verbal response he wanted Kai applied more pressure on to his throat. “Do I make myself clear?!” He repeated again.
“Ye…yes!” Nate choked out.
Getting the response he wanted this time around Kai released his hand from his neck and Nate slumped to the ground coughing and spluttering. If there is one thing that Kai couldn’t stand, it was insubordination from his team, but even more so, Kai was actually pissed that Nate had nearly gotten himself killed. It would have really hurt him if he had to go back and tell Arrow and their mother that he died on his watch.
Kai’s eyes returned back to blue after feeling that everything had concluded. He was still annoyed but allowing Pax's dominant energy to remain within him would only lengthen the time it took for him to be able to fully calm down. The rest of the team shifted back in to their human forms.
Kai motioned to the enemy shifter still lying unconscious on the ground. “Trace, tie up this guy before he decides to wake up. We’ll take him back with us to the capital and interrogate him there,” Kai instructed. “If we leave now, we can get back by nightfall.”
Trace nodded silently and went over to the Sirran soldier to start doing so. He couldn’t help but give a sly *‘I knew you weren’t ready for this’* smile to Nate after seeing him get disciplined by Kai.
Hayley threw some clothes over at Nate. “Hurry up and get dressed rookie.” Nate pulled the clothes from his face and slowly started putting them on. He felt sheepish and embarrassed at the whole situation. He had been desperate to make a good impression and now felt that he had let his team down by taking off on his own. He wouldn’t make that mistake again.

Adalyn was bored as hell in her room. It had been nearly three days that she had been cooped up at home after being grounded by her aunt. Gabriel had been ignoring her and was still angry with her. She hoped that they would be back to how they were before soon. She missed hanging out with him.
With nothing for her to do, she had started reorganising her closet. All of her clothes were mostly t-shirts and jeans. She knew that if she was going to get in to the club to see Dylan soon, then she may have to hit the shops to find something a bit more appropriate to wear.
Adalyn had her Bluetooth headset on and was dancing whilst she flicked through her wardrobe.
Lost in her music, Adalyn suddenly froze solid as she felt a heavy arm wrap around her waist and a warm hot body against her back.
