Chapter 14

Beta Finn POV

I get out of the black SUV. I will admit that I am terrified of my father. I would rather be facing Alpha KAI right now than my father. I am almost shaking as I approach the front porch where my father is waiting for me. He is smiling, but I can tell something, or someone has pissed him off.

"Alpha," I say, kneeling before him.

"Get up, you idiot; you are my son. My son does not kneel before the Alpha. You should be here with me, learning and preparing to take over this pack, but instead, you are in trouble. Aren't you, Finn?" My father scowls at me. His voice is belittling, and his face reeks of disgust. He hates me.

"I want to make it on my own, father," I say.

A boot kicks me in the back. "He is the Alpha, and you are nothing," a wolf howls and growls in my direction.

"Down, Tommy," my father warns his wolf.

I look back at the giant wolves. Why in the hell does my father have these warriors. "What is going on? And what is with all the extra security?" I ask. I am unsure if I even want to know what is going on with my father and his pack. I am not exactly happy with him or the arrangement he has me in with Alaska.

I guess, in some ways, I should be thankful. A wolf like Alaska would never look my way, but she will be my wife, and I do care about her. As I ponder how Alaska and I do not belong together and how we are perfect for one another, a row of black SUVs pull up in front of the cabin.

"We are at war, Finn, and you need to choose whose side you are on?" my father growls at me.

The thought catches me off guard. My father has never been at war with anyone. The Larringer wolves are rich, fearless, and intelligent. We take what we want, but we do not kill people. We do not go to war. We persuade people or buy our way into what we want. No one tells my father no. That is how I ended up with Alaska. Her family could not say no.

"Is Alaska here?" I ask my father. If we are at war, I need to make sure she is safe.

My father growls loudly. "Her family is here. I plan to take a lot of my anger out on them," Alpha roars louder, and the wolves join in.

"We have to get Alaska!" I growl, standing up to my father.

My father is infuriated as I move into his space. I do not care if he is Alpha. I want Alaska to be safe. My father hits me across the face. I do not see it coming. I feel the sting in my eyes and fall off the porch onto the ground.

"Your wife is a whore. She and her damn family owe me a daughter, a Larringer wolf. She will give us a child. I do not care if it is your child or mine, but she will replace what her family took from us," Alpha growls.

I am more confused now than ever. Alaska agreed to be with me, and we agreed to give my father a child to replace the child Alaska's brother murdered, a daughter. My father does not know that she finally agreed to marry me.

"She said we could get married. We were going to Alpha Kai when I got back from the training trip, father," I try to reason with him. As the words escape my mouth, my father moves down the porch to me. He kneels in front of me, grinning.

"Your sweet Alaska is with Alpha KAI now. He marked her as his mate. She is a whore. If she wants to be with Alpha Kai, that is fine with me, but first, she will give me what she owes me," my father growls. His boot lands on my face. I know he blames me for not marrying her sooner. He blames me for not forcing her to carry a child to give to the Alpha.

"She would never betray me," I groan.

I cannot believe that Alaska would hurt me like that. We promised to be true to one another and make this work. I am in debt to Alpha too. I am the misfit son. She promised me to be mine.

"We have proof. Do you want to see it?" Alpha growls. He walks away from me and back to the house. He would not lie. I know it.

I want to scream, but instead, I pull myself together and follow my father into the house. My mother is waiting, and so is Alaska's family. Everyone in the household is pissed off at me like this is my fault.

"How are you going to fix this?" Alaska's mother is the first one to snap at me. I am sure she is terrified.

"What do you want me to do?" I ask. I turn my gaze to my father.

My father seems to be circling everyone in the room. They are afraid, and they should be frightened of him. Alpha Larringer will take everything from them. He will take their homes, pack, and jobs and leave them wishing for death. He is ruthless, but he will not kill them. My father makes wolves do as he wants, or he makes them hope for their own demise.

"We want you to reason with Alaska and bring her back to the fold," my father says.

"HOW!" I growl loudly. I do not mean to show my frustration, but how in the hell am I supposed to bring her back to the fold if Alpha Kai marked her already.

My father rushes me and smiles. I am so scared right now. I fully understand why I can never be Alpha. I can fight and defend my pack from intruders, but not my father. I cower beneath him. I could never be a leader like him. I could never harm people the way he does.

"You tell her that I plan to kill her mother, just like I killed her father," Alpha says.

I look over at Alaska's father sitting at the table. Her mother is holding his hand, and tears begin to drown her face. "Kill him," Alpha growls.

One of the giant wolves grabs Alaska's father. He is dead before I can scream or move. "Now, you bring her back here. We will breed her and then kill her too," Alpha says.

Alaska's mother lets out a scream. "Shut the bitch up," Alpha growls.

I run out the front of the house. Two giant wolves are waiting for me. I hear Alaska's mother screaming as my father comes out the door. "On second thought, tell Alaska her family is dead, and she is next," Alpha says.

"Why would you do this?" I ask him. He does not answer. He pushes me toward the two wolves waiting for me.

"Bring the whore back, Finn, or I will kill you too," Alpha says.

There is no way out for me or Alaska.
