Chapter 25

Alpha Kai

Beta Bailey seems to think she has this all figured out, and to be honest, and I like the way she is thinking. Of course, I have always liked the way she thinks. Beta Bailey has a good head on her shoulders, and that is why I use her for my most important tasks. She always comes through for me, and this task is the most important task I have ever given her.

"How do you plan to use Finn for bait?" I ask Beta Bailey. She smiles, and I can see the wheels turning inside her bright mind.

"I think we should send Finn back home. We send him right to the wolf den, and I truly think the Larringer Alpha will let him crawl back. I mean, after all, it is the Alpha's son, and he wants his son to be with Alaska, so let's send good old Finn home to daddy," Beta Bailey says.

I lean over the railing of the front porch. I watch as Henry and Jay talk with some of the wolves that plan to help us retrieve Alaska. I have an army. Now all I need is a plan. I think Beta Bailey has the plan.

"Okay, so we send Finn back home; what keeps him from turning on us and helping his Alpha father kill us?" I ask Beta Bailey.

I take a deep breath and think. I think about Alaska and the few moments we have shared. I think about realizing she is my mate. I think about how she has changed me. Alaska has made me a new wolf and a better man, hell, a better Alpha. I think she will be good for this pack and all of the wolves. We can change things here for the better.

"You really love her, don't you?" Beta Bailey asks me.

"Yes, I do," I answer her.

"So does Finn. Finn loves her and wants to protect her. He wants to bring her back to you because he knows that is what will make her happy. So, that is how I know he will not betray us. Finn will go into his father's house and say anything and do anything that we tell him to do," Beta Bailey says with a lot of confidence. I trust her more than anyone. If she says Finn can be trusted, then I have to believe her.

"Okay, what now?" I ask her.

"Now, we prep Finn to return home," Beta Bailey says.

I look out over the crowd. Henry and Jay have begun to divide people up into groups. He is giving each group a specific job to bring Alaska home. Henry is smart and one hell of a warrior.

"What about Jake?" I ask.

Beta Bailey laughs and touches the top of my arms. "Oh, Alpha, I know exactly where Jake went, and I plan to take care of him, but first, Alaska. She is the priority right now," Beta Bailey says.

I leave the porch and go back into the house. I walk through the front room of the pack house and make my way to the bedroom. I sit on the side of the bed. Fucking hell, I did not know love could hurt this much. I do love her, and I want her home.

I look up to see Beta Bailey standing at the bedroom door. She followed. She must have been really quiet. I did not realize she was behind me.

"I am going to start prepping Finn. I am taking him to my cabin to prep. I will have him ready in an hour. Be ready," Beta Bailey says.

I nod, but no do say anything. Beta Bailey turns to leave the bedroom but stops. She walks over to me, leans down, and kisses my cheek. "I am happy for you, Alpha Kai. She deserves happiness. I hope Alaska gives you all the happiness in life. You deserve it," Beta Bailey says.

I look into Beta Bailey's eyes. At one time, we had a lot of fun together, and I even thought it could go further, but we both liked our freedom. I hope she finds happiness too, but I cannot say it right now. I just cannot.

"Thanks. Let me know when we are ready to go," I say. I open my mouth to say more, but it is better that I do not say anything. I do not want to jeopardize my life with Alaska. I almost did that earlier with Cherry. I have a lot to learn about being a faithful partner to Alaska.

Beta Bailey waits for a moment but then turns to leave. I watch her until I hear her go out the front door. I do not know what I thought would happen if I told her I wished her happiness. I guess I only want to make sure she does not get the wrong idea.

I cannot hide in here. I have to get the teams ready to save Alaska. No, Henry and Jay are handling that. I am the Alpha of this pack, and I need to do something besides feeling sorry for myself and sulking.

The front door opens, and someone is rushing through the pack house. I hear paws hitting the floor. I get up and go to the bedroom door. I am ready to fight. I begin to shift into my wolf form when a tiny voice calls out to me. "Help me," the small voice says.

I reach out, and the small wolf lands in my arms. She begins to shift back to her human form. Her bright eyes look into mine. "Help me, please. I escaped from Alpha Larringer. Alaska helps me. She said to run straight to you and not to stop," the little wolf says slowly. Her voice is shaking, and she is terrified.

Beta Bailey and Henry come into the pack house. "Who is she?" Beta Bailey asks.

"Alaska sent her," I answer.
