Chapter 39

Alaska POV

There are times when I think life with Alpha Kai could not be any better, and then he surprises me. We have been married for seven months, and he tries to remind me how much I am loved every day. Kai is compassionate, kind, and doting.

Soon we will add a baby to our lives. The pack is excited as well as Beta Baily and Finn. I have to admit watching Finn dot on Beta Bailey and being in love makes my heart soar for both of them. Finn and Bailey deserve beautiful lives. I was afraid the two of them would leave for a pack in the northern territories, but Finn knew how much Beta Bailey loved the dark moon pack. He stayed for her.

Alpha Kai gave Finn back his rank as Beta soon after Bailey announced their engagement. It was his gift to the couple. Well, the status of Beta and a new cabin away from the pack house. It was my idea. I did not want Bailey to have to be in a home Finn shared with me once. I know Beta Bailey is a strong woman, but I never wanted my presence with Finn to overshadow anything in their lives.

I smell food cooking and coffee brewing as I make my way into the kitchen. I cannot believe how lucky I am. I stand in the doorway, watching my Alpha cooking breakfast for me. He looks back at me and flashes his beautiful smile at me.

Alpha Kai looks sexy standing there cooking for me. "I thought maybe the smell of pancakes and coffee would wake you up," Alpha Kai says.

I waddle into the kitchen. I feel huge as I sit down at the kitchen table. "You look beautiful," Kai says, kissing me on the forehead and placing a plate in front of me. Pancakes with bananas and pecans, my favorite, extra butter and syrup.

"I am not beautiful; I am a whale," I say as I dig into my pancakes. I feel Alpha Kai gently touch my back and then lean down and kiss my head.

"You are the most beautiful woman I have ever seen in my life," Alpha Kai says.

He never allows me to say anything negative about myself as I grow. It worships my body as I grow bigger every inch of me. "You are growing a baby. No negative thoughts or feelings; I will not tolerate it. Besides, I love the way you look. You are sexy," Alpha Kai says. He leans in and kisses my lips. I never thought in a million years Alpha Kai would be so horny at the sight of me this big, but he pleasures me daily.

It seems we have a beautiful morning routine. First, he cooks me breakfast, massages my aching, growing body, and then he makes love to me. I love our mornings together. Sometimes more than once, those are the best mornings. I love the mornings when there is no pack business, and we can lay in bed together without a care in the world.

I finish my breakfast and feel a little sick. "I am not feeling normal, Kai," I say. I feel a little lightheaded as I stand. Kai rushes behind me and holds me.

"Let me help you to bed. Maybe I should call Doctor James," Kai says.

"No need; I see him tomorrow. I only need to rest for a while," I say.

Alpha Kai helps me to the bed. As we are walking, I feel something warm between my legs. "Oh no. I think my water broke. It is too soon," I scream.

Alpha Kai scoops me into his arms. He does not wait for me to say anything else or ask to be taken to the hospital. He is still in nothing but his jeans. No shirt, no shoes, just his jeans, and I am in a soaking wet sleep shirt. "You could at least put on a shirt and let me change first. Kai, you are not even wearing shoes," I insist.

He is stressed and worried. "It is only my water. We have a little time. Get my bag and bring me something else to put on, and you need a shirt and shoes. Stop panicking, and we have time," I say.

Kai carries me into the bedroom and lays me on the bed. I curl onto my side and feel something hit my back. It feels as if my body is breaking. I scream out in pain. "It hurts!" I scream loudly.

Kai has his shirt on and his shoes. He picks me up and carries me, still in the wet sleep shirt. He holds me and my overnight bag as he carries me to the truck. "Lay back and try to relax," Kai says.

I curl up in the passenger seat. The pain begins to grow. It is too soon. We need a few more weeks. It feels as if something is moving through my body, and I feel so much pressure. I look down and see blood on my sleep shirt and coming out onto the seat. "KAI!" I scream.

Kai pulls into the hospital in complete panic. He parks at the main entrance and rushes to get me out of the truck and into the hospital. I am in so much pain that I cannot focus on anything going on around me. I can hear Kai talking, but I try only focusing on breathing and getting through the contractions.

"Bring her in here," I hear a small voice say. I look up to see nurses.

"Where is Doctor James?" Alpha Kai asks.

"Doctor Osmond will check her until Doctor James arrives," one of the nurses says. She comes over to my side.

"I am Leah, and this is Abby. We are going to take care of you. First, I am going to change you into a gown and start an IV," Leah says. I look at both of them. I am in so much pain that I do not care.

The two of them help me remove the wet sleep shirt and my panties. They place a hospital gown on me. "Doctor Osmond is going to check and see how far you are before we do anything else," Leah says.

The two she-wolves help me position myself so Doctor Osmond can check me. I scream as he touches me. The pain is killing me. "She is ready," Doctor Osmond says. The young doctor looks a little pale. I hope he has done this before.

"Ready?" Alpha Kai questions. This was not how I thought the morning would go. I thought I had at least another month before I had the baby.

I can feel so much pressure as the two nurses, and Doctor Osmond prepare for my baby to come into the world. I feel as if my head is spinning. "Alaska, we are ready for you to push," Leah says.

Alpha Kai holds my hand as I begin to push. I scream as I push. "1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10, stop," Doctor Osmond says.

I lay back and rest for a moment. "Okay again," Leah says.

I push again, but no baby. I lay back to rest and then again, pushing as hard as possible. "I can see the baby, and we are almost there. Give me a big push Alaska," Doctor Osmond says.

I look at Kai and see his love and worry for me. "I am afraid," I say.

"You can do this. One more time," Alpha Kai says.

One more big push 1 2 3 4 5 6, and baby is out. I lay back on the bed. I look at Alpha Kai. He is crying as he looks at our child. "What is it?" I ask.

"It is a boy," Alpha Kai says.

"A boy, Zion. He is Zion," I say.

"We never talked about a name. Why Zion?" Alpha Kai says.

"I just know that is his name," I answer.

"Then Zion it is," Alpha Kai says, kissing me on the forehead.

Leah places Zion in my arms. He is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen in my life. "He looks just like you," I say, looking at Kai.

As I look Zion over, one worry is gone. Zion looks exactly like Kai. There is no doubt he is his son. Thank the moon goddess. "He does look like me," Kai says.

"We need to take him and check him. He is premature. I will bring him back soon," Leah says.

Leah takes Zion from my arms. Kai leans in to kiss my lips. I feel tears falling from his eyes. The big strong Alpha is crying. He is happy, and so am I.
