Chapter 29

Alaska POV

"I have to keep you safe," Beta Bailey says to me.

I follow Beta Bailey away from the fires, the explosions, and the screaming. All of the noise coming from the Larringer wolf pack is terrifying. I hope those giant wolves and that plump she wolf that was so rude to me suffer the most.

"Keep up," Beta Bailey growls at me. I am exhausted and I have been drugged, so it is hard for me to run as fast as I normally do even in my wolf form.

I listen for Alpha Kai. I need to know he is safe. I do not hear anything from him. He is silent in my mind. I am not sure if that is good or bad. I doubt he wants me listening to him as he murders people. I get that. I wonder, can I turn off and on his ability to listen to me?

There is a black SUV waiting for me. Beta Bailey stops in front of the black SUV and waits for me. "Get in and go home. I will make sure Alpha Kai and Finn come home to you," Beta Bailey says.

I shake my head in protest. "Alpha Larringer locked Finn in a pit. He let him out for the ceremony. He has to be saved, too," I growl at Beta Bailey.

I shift back into my human form and get into the black SUV. I do not want to, but I can tell by the eyes on me that I do not have a say in the matter. "Get in the truck," Alpha Kai says through our mate bond link.

"I promise to bring Finn and Alpha Kai home to you," Beta Bailey says again. She gives me a small smile.

"Thank you," I say.

I get into the truck and wait. The two wolves guarding me get into the truck to drive me back to the pack house. It is dark except for the fires as we pull away from the Larringer pack. I feel oddly at peace for a moment. It is like it is over for me now. Finally, I can live my life. I can be with Alpha Kai and have a wonderful life. Maybe Finn can meet someone and have a life too.

It is almost terrifying not to worry anymore. My only worry right now is getting Alpha Kai and Finn home. I know Alpha Kai does not understand why I am loyal to Finn, but he needs to think about this from my side. Finn has always been there for me, but now it is over. I want to see Finn move on and have a life. He deserves it.

The larger of the two wolves is driving. I think his name is Vinnie. I still have not met all of the wolves in the pack. Vinnie slams on the brakes, and I move forward fast, hitting my head on the back of the seat.

"Are you okay, Alaska?" Vinnie asks me.

I shake it off and look up at him. "Yes, what happened?" I ask.

Vinnie looks around. "I am sorry, Alaska. I thought I saw a wolf and not one of ours," Vinnie says.

The three of us look around, but we do not see anything. "Let's go," the other wolf says, I think his name is Bennie. I could be wrong.

Vinnie pulls off, and as he begins to drive again, something hits the side of the SUV. There is growling and screaming as wolves come from every direction surrounding the SUV. "Get the whore!" I hear a wolf growl.

They came for me. Alpha Larringer's wolves are here for me. "HELP ME ALPHA KAI!" I scream as loud as I can.

I can feel Alpha Kai getting closer. "I am on my way," Alpha Kai says in our mate bond link.

I hear something else coming from behind the wolves. There is more fire and something that is really loud. "GET DOWN!" someone yells. I get into the floorboard of the black SUV as something hits the SUV hard, pushing it back.

The Larringer wolves focus on the wolf that is causing the disturbance. The two wolves with me, Vinnie and Bennie, get out of the black SUV to help destroy the Larringer wolves. The screaming continues, and fire is pushing against the SUV. I think I need to get out of here.

Something pushes against the SUV again. This time it pushes me back even farther. "I am almost there," Alpha Kai says in our mate bond link.

The fighting continues. I continue to hide in the floor of the SUV as it is pushed and the heat goes over the top of the SUV. I need out of this truck. I take a deep breath and open the door and jump out of the truck.

"GET THAT BITCH!!" A wolf yells. I see Finn. He is the one protecting me. Finn rushes toward me to shield me from the crowd. I see Alpha Kai and his wolves zeroing in on the crowd.

Wolves are flying and burning as Finn and Alpha Kai comes to my aid. Finn reaches me first and uses his body to shield me from the wolves. The wolves are attacking Finn hard, trying to get to me. I feel someone grab me from behind and start pulling me. "Shift now," Alpha Kai says.

I shift into my wolf. Beta Bailey is there when I look up. "Get her home now," Alpha Kai screams.

I hear Finn screams. I look to see him go down. "NO!" I yell out.

"I will take care of Finn. Get her to safety," Alpha Kai growls loudly.

Beta Bailey does not give me a choice. She pushes me out of the crowd and toward an opening. "Come on, Alpha Kai will take care of Finn, " Beta Bailey is growling.

I follow her until we are far away from the fighting again. "I think we are safe," Beta Bailey says, stopping for a moment so I can catch my breath.

"I thought I was safe in the damn SUV," I snap at her.

"Me too, but the good news is Alpha Larringer is dead. Alpha Kai killed him. The pack turned on Finn and they want him dead. They want you dead too," Beta Bailey says.

"What will I do?" I ask.

Beta Bailey turns to continue our journey to the pack house. "No one will be left to hunt you when Alpha Kai is done. He will kill them all, just for you. He loves you, Alaska," Beta Bailey says.

I follow her as the moon glows brightly and guides us home.
