Chapter 22

Alpha Kai

Maybe I am wrong about Finn. I know I have a she-wolf missing; Finn was the last person anyone saw her with the previous night. My soon-to-be wife feels she owes Finn a debt for saving her life, and I personally know deep down he cannot be trusted. There is something about him that is not right. I have not figured this complex situation out yet, but I will, and when I do, I will take a lot of joy in killing Finn.

"NOOO!" I turn quickly to the left of me. That is Alaska screaming.

"Everyone get to Alaska now!" I growl. Henry, Jay, and Antoine run in the direction of the scream. I look around to see what wolves are with me. Before I can say anything, everyone is running in the direction of the scream. Henry is leading the way.

I am angry as hell at Finn and myself. Why did I allow her to go talk to Finn without me? Because she would have gone even if I had said no to her. I shift into my wolf form and begin running with my men in the direction of Alaska.

Henry goes to the left, Jay to the right, and Antoine stays in the middle. Several other wolves are following one of the three as they form a circle around the area of the scream. Whatever is after Alaska, my men and I will block it in and make it pay for hurting her. If Finn is involved, I will kill him.

The dirt is hot under my paws, and my heart races. Alaska screams again. "Do not touch me!" My heart breaks as we go through a clearing to the security patrol houses.

Finn is standing across from two wolves and Alaska. One of the wolves is holding Alaska, and the other seems to be in control of the situation. Finn is arguing with them.

I let out a mighty growl. The wolf holding Alaska lets her go, and she runs toward me. Finn grabs her by the wrist. "Wait," Finn says.

What the hell is he doing? Alaska pulls back and strikes Finn across the face. "Let go of me!" She screams.

Alaska is running toward me. I feel like we are getting somewhere now. "Get them," I growl at my men.

My wolves run toward the two wolves as Alaska falls into my arms. I run my hand through her hair and up the small of her back. "What happened?" I ask her.

It takes her a minute to begin to make sense of what is happening. "The Larringer wolves are here for Finn, and I was just a bonus. They want to kill him," Alaska whispers to me.

She breaks free of me and looks back. "Please do not let them hurt Finn," Alaska says.

I scan her thoughts. I only want to see if she still loves him, but all I can hear and feel from her is that she is concerned for him. She looks back at me. "It is not what you think, Alpha Kai; please help him," Alaska says.

I still do not understand why he grabbed her wrist and tried to keep her from running toward me. "Okay," I say.

Henry and Jay Jay have the two wolves pinned down. Antoine has Finn. "What do you want us to do with them?" Henry asks. He is growling and showing teeth.

"Find out why they are here and then kill them. Put security on Finn until this is resolved. Before we pass any judgments on Finn, we still have a missing girl to deal with first. For now, he is to stay in the security house with two wolves with him at all times," I say.

I look behind me to see Jake coming. "I will keep watch until this is settled," Jake says.

Jake takes Finn by the upper arm and leads him back into his cabin. Jake seems to be fond of Finn. Maybe he can help me figure out what the hell happened last night with Marla. Her family will want answers. I want Marla found so I can give them answers.

"Did you ever think maybe it was the Larringer wolves who took Marla?" Alaska says.

Maybe she is right, but I do not trust Finn. "We will see," I say.

Alaska waits for me by the trees in front of the clearing that opens up to the security patrol houses. I do not want her to see what is about to happen to the two Larringer wolves, but something tells me that she wants to see them suffer. After all, the Larringer wolves have made her suffer over the years. Maybe it will bring her some peace.

Henry interrogates both of the wolves, but neither of them will answer any of his questions. They are loyal to the Larringer Wolf pack, right up to the point that Henry takes both of their heads. Finn says nothing as he watches with Jake.

I look at Finn and Jake. I make it clear without saying a word I will kill him if he harms Alaska. I want to know why they were here and why Alaska is so determined to protect him from me.

I turn to take Alaska home, but she is no longer beside the tree. She may have started running toward home. That is what she does when she is upset-run! "Alaska," I call out to her, but she does not respond.

I look back at Finn. "Where is she?" I growl.

"I do not know," Finn answers me.

"I bet you do. I bet all of this was a setup. You will suffer, Finn. If one hair on her head is harmed, then you will suffer," I growl.

"Henry, come with me," I yell.

Henry and I shift back into our wolf form and begin looking for Alaska. We run past the tree was she was standing, waiting for me, but nothing. We run for twenty minutes in the direction of the pack house, but nothing!

We search the packhouse and the woods, but nothing. I will kill him. I will fucking kill Finn for this. As I stand in the middle of the field next to the packhouse, growling and crying out for Alaska, I see something. It is the scrunchie that was in her hair.

I listen for her in my mind, but I cannot hear her. She is off the pack lands. The Larringer wolves took her, they took my mate, and now they will pay for this, starting with Finn.
