Chapter 21

Alaska POV

It is strange to have Alpha Kai in my head all the time. Especially since I think about Finn often, it is not that I loved him or love him now; it is that I feel like I owe him. I do owe him, to be blunt about it. I owe him my life. I would not be here with Alpha Kai if it were not for Finn. So, in reality, we both owe Finn.

I look up from my book to see Alpha Kai looking in on me. "What are you reading?" Alpha Kai asks me. I can tell he is reading my mind.

"I am looking at wedding dresses and thinking, but you already know that," I say. Maybe I am a little too sarcastic with him, but Alpha Kai knows what I am thinking, so why ask me?

Alpha Kai walks toward me. I am lying across the bed looking through a book of wedding dresses. "None of this is me. I am so frustrated," I snap as he sits down on the side of the bed.

Alpha Kai takes a deep breath and then looks at me. I am almost instantly overcome with an indescribable emotion, electricity, and love for him. "There you are. I was starting to think you were thinking of not marrying me and being with Finn instead," Alpha Kai says. His voice breaks, and he sounds different.

It is odd seeing such a strong wolf upset and worried. "I would never change my mind. I know you are the one for me," I say. I gently touch his arm. Alpha Kai smiles. I smile back at him, and then he laughs.

"I have never felt this way about anyone, Alaska. I am afraid of losing you," Alpha Kai says.

Just as I lean in to kiss him, there is a knock on the door. KNOCK KNOCK I growl and lay my head on the wedding dress book. "I really need help planning this wedding," I say as Alpha Kai goes to the bedroom door to investigate who is disturbing us.

"Alpha Kai, I am sorry to disturb you, but I need to speak with you about an important matter," Henry whispers through the small crack in the door.

Alpha Kai opens the door slightly and steps out. He speaks with Henry for a moment and then steps back inside our bedroom.

"It seems that a girl is missing from the security quarters, and the last person to see her was Finn," Alpha Kai growls. He is angry.

"There is no way Finn would ever hurt a woman," I am quick to defend Finn. I will always protect him, just like he protected me.

Alpha Kai takes a deep breath. "Have you ever thought that maybe your precious Finn is not so innocent and that maybe he did not save you, but things went just as planned?" Alpha Kai growls. He opens the bedroom door and leaves before I can answer his stupid question.

I look down at the wedding dress book and pull it close to my body. I am angry. I try to rip it, but it will not break. I crumble it out of frustration and throw it onto the floor. FUCK THIS! I get off the bed and slide into my shoes. I need to run or scream or maybe both at the same time. I need to release this frustration.

I open the bedroom door, and Jay Jay is standing at my door. "Move!" I yell at him. Jay Jay does not move. I push him, but he does not budge. "FINE!" I scream.

I can hear Alpha Kai coming to see why I am so upset. I look over at the window behind my bed. I push the bed out of the way and lift the window. As Alpha Kai returns to the bedroom, I am crawling out of the window.

"Alaska, wait! You are not safe out there," Alpha Kai growls.

Why is he trying to keep me in the house? What is going on with Finn? I am unsure why all this is happening, but I need to talk to Finn. I am unsure why, but I know I need to talk to Finn.

I rush across the front porch and jump quickly into the air. I take my wolf so I can move away from Alpha Kai and his men as they rush up onto me. I hear his voice in my head. "Stop," he says so calmly.

"I have to hear his side of this," I say. I continue running as fast as I can. I rush toward the security team.

I can feel Alpha Kai approaching me. I stop and turn to him. He is in his wolf form, but the other wolves have stayed behind. Alpha Kai came alone. "Why are you doing this Alaska?" Alpha Kai growls loudly.

"Finn would never hurt anyone," I say. I am crying as the words leave my mouth.

"You do not know him as well as you think you do," Alpha Kai says.

I move my paws through the dirt and think about what he is saying. "Someone is hurt or missing, and I get that. But why do you think Finn did it?" I ask.

"He was the last person who was with the girl. Think about it, Alaska," Alpha Kai says.

He is trying to talk to me calmly. "Let me ask him what happened. Where is he?" I ask.

Alpha Kai paces around in his wolf form and then suddenly returns to his human form. He reaches down and touches my head. "I am going to take Finn into custody now. If you get there before me, you can ask him about the girl and what happened. He better have the right answers when I get there," Alpha Kai says.

"Thank you," I say. I turn and begin to run toward the security patrol housing. I need to get to him before Alpha Kai and his men.

I can see Finn standing outside a house. "Finn," I call out to him.

Finn turns to look at me. His face goes white, and then I see them. Larringer wolves!
