Dreamed of Existence

Laura abruptly patted her thighs with her index finger. She vanished in an instant as if he had dreamed of her existence. Grey stood stunned, noticing her vanishing into thin air.

He searched to spot her. But… There was no trace of Laura. He felt disappointed. Suddenly his head was soaked with intense pain.

"Damn it!!" He clutched his head hard. He remembered how he drank last night.

"Sir… Are you there?" A sudden voice followed by a knock made him back to sense.

"Yea… I will be there within 20 minutes." Shouting back, Grey rushed towards the bathroom. As he closed the door Laura relaxed from the invisible form. She gazed at her locket which was quiet. Suddenly Jessica's words pierced her mind.

"Laura… this locket belongs to your grandmother and it was handed over to your mother. It will be a normal locket till you find your companion. As the man destined for you reaches near you it will give you an indication that was why it was shining earlier. And from our ancestors, we are trapped in a spell that we are only bound to be mated with those who this locket shows. You are destined to be with him. So you don't have a choice here."

Laura tightened her hold on the locket. Unknowingly tears streamed out of her eyes.

"No… I can't make his life into a mess. I should return to the kingdom. I am not even fit to be his love." Laura whispered, backing her steps.

As the water running sound from the bathroom stopped Laura immediately moved out deciding not to meet Grey again. Grey who came out scanned the room.

"Damn it. I still feel your scent here Laura." Grey whispered, clutching the towel. However, he shut his thoughts and hurried to dress up.

Luka who was standing at the door was in a dilemma about whether to knock on the door again. It was already late. His boss had never been late before. Gathering his courage Luka held his hand to knock on the door but suddenly Grey opened the door.

"Let's go" commanded Grey and walked ahead. Luka immediately followed him.

At the office, Grey tried hard to concentrate on the files but he couldn't. His thoughts were full of Laura. He was unsure about the morning incident. He felt she was real but in an instant, she vanished. How was that possible?

"Ahhh…" he ruffled his neatly brushed hair in frustration.

"Sir… you have to sign…" Luka who entered with a bundle of papers stood stunned noticing his boss who was staring at him with dishevelled hair.

"Sir… your hair…" Luca gulped and pointed to Grey's hair. Immediately Grey brushed his hair back to the normal style.

"What's the matter, Luka?" Grey calmed himself.

"Sir… you have to sign these papers." Luka extended the papers. Grey stared at Luka for a second and then he gathered his phone from the table.

"Cancel everything scheduled. I am on leave today." Grey moved out leaving Luka astonished.

"A man who was a workaholic was taking a leave. Did he lose his senses? Something was not right. He looks disturbed." Luka asked himself. Suddenly, his phone started to ring.

"Hello, Dad" Luka picked up the call addressing Ben.

"Luka… Is there any problem? Why did the young master leave hurriedly?" Ben interrogated Luka which triggered the devil inside him.

"Don't you know where he went?" Luka gritted his teeth.

"No… he just came and took the car key then he drove off. He didn't allow me to escort him," Ben said impatiently. Immediately Luka smirked. Perfect!!!

"Ahh… sir went to see his girlfriend." Luka blurted out.

"What!!! Girlfriend!!!" A scream from Ben made Luka take away the phone from his ears.

"Yes. Why? Didn't he tell you about his girlfriend? My poor Ben doesn't know this big secret of his boss." Mocked Luka. A chance for Luka to take revenge on his dad for his arrogant behaviour. Will it slide from his hand? Never…

"Luka…" Before Ben could enquire further suddenly he heard a beep sound.

"Brat!!!! He dared to hang up!!" Ben gazed at the phone in anger.

Meanwhile, Luka couldn't hold back his laughter. It was so long since he triggered Ben. His Dad hid a lot from him. So he tried to take revenge for it. And he succeeded in it. Feeling pleased with his intelligence Luka walked towards his cabin humming a song. Unaware that his words were going to cause a huge crisis in the future.

The sky turned dark and the stars began to shine. The Blue Moon cafe was busy with customers. Laura gazed outside through the glass window. She spotted a black Lamborghini Huracan EVO still in the parking lot. It was there for the last five hours. Laura averted her eyes from the car. Her eyes started to tear up. She moved towards the cabin and closed the door. She squatted down and cried out.

"Please… leave me alone Grey. I can't be with you." She whimpered.

Half an hour later she got up from the floor and washed her face. With the usual cold look, she came out to attend to the customer. But…

She was stunned noticing Grey who was staring at her from a corner table. Ignoring his stare she moved towards the counter.

"Laura… can you please take this to that table?" Stella handed a tray with two cups of coffee to her. Laura gazed at the spot where Stella pointed and got shocked, noticing it was Grey's table. She tried to decline it but stopped noticing Stella who was busy with other customers.

She gulped and moved to the spot. Grey stared his eyes at her. His stare made Laura shiver. Yet she concealed her emotions and placed the tray on the table. She positioned the cups on the table and hurriedly turned to walk away. But Grey's words made her halt her step.

"Ms Laura"

Laura turned around and trembled to notice his intense stare at her.

"Take your seat. I need to have a word with you." He pointed to the opposite seat and then took the coffee cup in his hand. He leisurely sipped the coffee still with his eyes on her. Laura stood dumbfounded hearing him.
