Oh Baby

Rolf's POV:

I awake to the sound of soft padding across the floor and humming so quiet my ears were straining to hear it. The familiar fragrance of rose and vanilla alerts me to her presence. She's doing her hair and makeup at her makeshift vanity table. Kneeling on the floor, she's placed a mirror on top of a few of my old college books. I watch her furiously tugging at pieces of her hair, and I notice her building frustration though she's trying to hide it. She's stressing over the unknown, as she has no idea about tonight. No idea. I must say I've outdone myself.

"Hey."

I mentally cringe as she jumps, before our eyes meet in the small hand mirror. She was easy to spook and I hated when I did it, even though it was unintentional. She clutches at my robe she's wearing, that's far too big for her body. It's adorable.
"Sorry, you scared me. Hey. Nice nap?" She looks back only to give me a big smile, which I of course am obliged to return as it was stunning to wake up to. I sit up, stretching and only feeling satisfied once I hear the crack of every spinal cord.
"That sounded like it felt good."

"It did, that was a killer nap. You wore me out, woman." I toss the covers off of me and find that I'm stark naked. I see her watch through the mirror, though discreetly.
"Me wear you out? Dude, you... you did not take it easy on me."
"Pssht you loved it. Who hopped on this dick five minutes later?"
Her gasp is one of false offence.
"Okay fine. But you were... different. It was savage."
Oh yeah? And I can get more nasty just to show you you're mine. But I don't tell her that of course.
"I had to let you know."

I find a towel for the shower that I need to have, yet again.
"Let me know what?"
She stops playing with her hair and turns to face me.
"That this dick is yours and that pussy is mine."

Ooh straight to the point, Ango.
And because of her expression, I feel a little smug walking into the shower.

...

Fahmeen's POV:

Okay, we've been driving for thirty minutes at least and we've yet to arrive at the party. I wander if they've started already?
"We'll get there in time. Trust me."
"I promise you won't miss a thing."
I smile at him, nodding and believing in his reassurance. Worries have knotted my stomach and I keep reaching for his hand just to calm it down.

It's night time and the moon is out. Full and vibrant, it casts a direct stream of light towards my ring. The large Manor House we've arrived at is oddly quiet.
"Where are the cars? The people?" We've parked nearby as there seems to be no private parking for guests and I'm thinking whether there are any.
Rolf leads me towards the doors. We walk up the steps and I can't help but feel a little giddy. The scenery was glorious. Decadent and oozing glamour, I'm glad I settled for a floor length dress. Rolf is even wearing a suit and tie. Some party?

"Alright, ready?"
I'm surprised when I see his eyes. Why are they glistening?

"Yes babe but-
"SUPRISE!"

Oh
My
God

...

Fahmeen's POV:

My eyes instantly found my mother's. What? How? Before I could allow my emotions try to figure themselves out, I'm bombarded with yet another surprise. The baby decorations everywhere.
That's when I search for Angie whilst the crowd mingle amongst themselves after our entrance.
"Over there." Rolf points her out for me and she is there indeed. A bright smile on her face, standing next to Raven and the rest of the Ango's. I see they've been getting to know my family as they're all standing in a sort of group.

"Rolf, can I talk to you?" I'm desperate for some answers. I'm shocked, confused and trying not to feel a little betrayed. I'm sure there's an explanation for all of this.
He wordlessly takes my hand, leading me away from the ballroom and towards a window seat in the hallway.

There's bunting and balloons all adorned with messages of congratulations for our expectancy. How are people so sure of something I'm not even sure about?
"Erm what?" I nervously laugh, my eyes pleading with his for an explanation.
"Alright, here goes. First of all, I had an inkling. About... this." His hand goes to my stomach, both of us looking down there.
"Okay..."
"Yeah and I overheard you and Ang. She couldn't lie to me or at least hide the truth."

Realisation hits me like a tonne of bricks. That day, not too long ago. And he pulled her aside after, looking serious.
"But I'm not sure myself babe. I-
"I just know. This is it. And you look different, believe me. Like the first time."
I stop whatever I was going to say then. Like the first time. Like with Willow.

"You're that sure?" I grab his hands, squeezing them and he squeezes mine too.
"I need you to be that sure. I'm... I don't know I couldn't find out." Maybe I was scared? To find that I'm not, that I am?
"Believe in me as I believe in you." He wipes away the tears on my face.
"Believe in me as I believe in you." I whisper, embracing the hug he pulls me in.
"And my family? You flew them all out here. You did that for me?"
He kisses the top of my head.
"I'd do anything for you."

...

We return to the party and now I feel as if I could meet everybody. Immediately, I rush over to my family making sure to greet everyone and anyone on the way.

An emotional reunion later, we were eating and drinking and the general vibes were happy. Everyone looked happy. I was happy. Then I hear a child's voice, very familiar I think to myself. I find myself smiling before realising who it even was.

"Archie!"
I gasp, bracing myself for the run up before the hug.
"Fahmeen!" His little body feels a little taller, he's growing too fast.
"Are you going to have a baby?" He asks me as I crouch down, meeting his eye level. He's still holding onto my hand. Archie's dressed in a shirt, bow tie and shorts. I can't deal.
"I hope so." I cross my fingers and he gasps.

Archie looks around, soaking in the balloons and heaped tables of food.
"Do you want me to fix you a plate?"
"Yes please!"

I take his hand, but he leads the way and gives me a plate; proceeding to list the contents in which I shall fill the very small plate with.
"I see you've met our guest of honour." Rolf laughs as he comes up behind me.
"Am I Ona?"
We look down at Archie who is oblivious to what he just said. He takes the plate out of my hand and goes off in search of a secluded spot.

"That kid will be the death of me." I clutch at my chest, watching his little legs carry away all that food.
"Jessie is here, and Jasper of course." I look at Rolf then, I expected that and I was okay with it.
"Okay. Let me go say hello."
Rolf breaks out in a smile I would describe as part relief part pride.

...

"My dad is here."

"He is."

"You invited him?"

"I did."

"Thank you."

He kisses me, slow and sweet. I couldn't find words for this man. He exceeds whatever idea of love I thought I had.

"I'm going to say hi."
"Stay where I can see you."
It's the least I could do so I nod and he raises his eyebrow, telling me he's serious before walking off and joining River and a few of his friends. I notice Jasper and he smiles at me, motioning to his stomach and giving me a thumbs up. I chuckle, blowing him a kiss.

"Dad."
He stands up and hugs me. I'm a little unsure of whether to hug him back, is this too fast? Nonetheless it's strange.
"I'm sorry, sweetheart but I'm so happy for you. This is exactly what you deserve. Seeing you happy is so important to me." I keep reminding myself to take whatever he says with a pinch of salt because of our past. But it was difficult trying not to wipe the slate clean too.

"It was big on Rolf for inviting you, dad."
Dark memories resurface. Back at home, the fighting, the anger, the disgust on his face. I shake my head to remove those thoughts.
"How could I not come? I'm your father, should I not be here?"
I quickly nod as he was looking at me expectantly, still smiling. He hugs me again and walks off and I see that he meets Rolf's eye from across the room. My father is expressionless. I fight back the odd feeling and smile when Rolf looks at me. I'll always smile when he looks at me.
