Chapter 10

"Last night I walked outside alone and found no sign of aliens at all. I'm glad that Professor John didn't force me to find them immediately, but since this is the project he gave me I feel a little guilty that I didn't manage to find anything." Sicily said making Merry look at her with a shocked face.

"You rarely go out at night, how can you do that now?"

"I had to in order to complete the task given to me by Professor John. He asked me to detect the aliens that are here and that's all but I couldn't do it properly. I wonder if I'm an inconsiderate person or if I'm not thorough enough to find them, or if they're just not here anymore? It's hard for me to understand, they should have shown themselves if they were still here and why didn't I ever get them? I've never seen any characteristics or information about them again even though people found out about your existence recently but I didn't manage to get anything at all."

Merry felt unable to answer Sicily's words while the girl also understood that Merry had a very different understanding of this matter. People did not work so they could say that her actions were a little strange and unreasonable. But she who was required by work certainly had to think of many things for the benefit of this matter in the future but there was not a single tool that she could buy or she had not found it at all.

"I intend to buy an alien detection device like the one I found in the online shop yesterday. It seems that if I get that tool it will be easier, because there won't be anything missed if I use it to find out information about the aliens." Sicily said making Merry look at her.

"That's a pretty good idea, I agree if you want to do it. It's quite difficult now if you don't do it so it's better for you to use tools because it will be very likely for you to get information about the aliens. Then my suggestion is that instead of you being confused by yourself choosing a detection device it's better to talk to professor John, maybe he has a recommendation because he is a strange person who keeps a lot of things in the office and the place where he always sits and works."

Sicily smiled at that and nodded slowly. The sound of the bell asking them to enter made the students in the cafeteria immediately rush because they were called using the bell alias smartwatch in their hands.

They were already using a system like that and now it was getting more sophisticated with higher technological capabilities. That's why they don't need to bother with other matters because everything can be done concisely wherever they are.

"Alien detection device?"

Sicily nodded and looked at John's face who was in front of her at the moment. She had just gotten home and finished class so she went straight to John who was in the laboratory working on something.

"Last night I was looking for a few or a lot of characteristics like Professor said but I didn't find anything or any suspicious people at all. They all looked normal and I realized that I wouldn't be able to spot aliens with the naked eye. I need help, a tool to detect aliens seems like something I can use for that. Is there an accurate tool yet?" she asked making John sigh.

"There wasn't before because this is new although the information about aliens has been around for a long time. But the detection device has never been successfully created by people and I am also now trying to be able to do or create a technology system that can detect extraterrestrials. It's just that it will take quite a long time so I'm asking you to look for it with your eyes and characteristics first.

"History has never recorded that alien detection devices cannot be found quickly and cannot be completed quickly because they require tools and materials that do not come from the human world. So I'll increase your salary since I'm going to trouble you with this. But if you want to have an easier way you can buy a stinging device like a lightning bolt.

"You can show it in front of people at night and they might come to you when they find out that you have the same power. Because aliens are usually very fond of meeting their fellows. Maybe you can try this method because I heard from others and there are some people who have proven it but I was never able to find them."

Sicily was silent because actually she was quite scared if she had to deal with aliens but after all this was the demands of the job and she couldn't refuse it. John had always paid her a decent salary so she never complained even though the current task given by this man was quite large and made it difficult for her to handle it alone.

"You don't have to worry, when you find some creatures approaching you it means they are aliens and you can get out of there quickly. Or you can hide while turning on the device because it will be easier for them to come but otherwise you'll be in danger. Playing smart won't get you confused, Sicily. Once you manage to get signs of aliens in this city then I will give you a month's leave with full pay because after this I will investigate further with other colleagues."

After much talk, Sicily finally excused herself to go home. While she didn't realize that Stein was following her and staring at John who couldn't see her. She began to look around the man's room but there was no sign that his parents or family were there, the room was also quite small and there was no cover door because she had seen it seriously and clearly.

He also listened to every conversation that this man had with Sicily, he really didn't expect that it turned out that John really intended to investigate about aliens but didn't have the courage to do it alone so he asked Sicily to do it.

"This man is quite good in terms of salary but he has done research that is far from his realm. I want to hate him but it turns out there are a lot of evil aliens roaming around here. But why didn't he do the research himself? Why should she ask Sicily when she's perfect and can do it all by herself to prove whether there are aliens or not? That sucks!"

Stein didn't want to attract too much attention so he left and caught up with Sicily who was already in the center of town and taking in the surroundings. The girl went inside a shop and bought some tools that were used and could help her accomplish some of these tasks.

Sicily was really working hard just to complete a task that made sense but she couldn't deny that this was already part of the lesson research and learning that she was doing.

"Stein seems to be waiting for me so instead of him starving waiting for me to cook dinner, I should just buy some ready-made food. It'll be easier and faster since I'm also already very tired and hungry. Hopefully I can get this information clearly and stop with all this research."

Sicily has so much hope, she doesn't know when she will be able to finish it. Right now, the important thing was to take care of herself first and buy some groceries that could be used for cooking tomorrow, after which she just walked away from the shop and was seen carrying a bag of groceries.

Meanwhile, Stein walked after her and entered first when he arrived home.
