Chapter 8
Sicily shook her head at Stein's words asking her to quit. "It's not that easy for me to quit, I'm working and pegging a life there And if I quit and refuse his orders I can eat what? In this country it is very difficult to survive, work is very difficult to get because as you can see There are so many rivals and also the ease in technology that makes human labor not so needed.
"We have to have the ability and proximity to people who must have a complete source of salary from one of the organizations, with that it will be easier because we can get everything done but not everyone has girlfriends and prowess like this. There are only a few of them who can't get a job because it's not enough so we have to work so you can survive because grades aren't that important but people trust you more if you have skills."
Stein looked at Sicily's face which looked so tired, but didn't know how to make this girl stop. Stop looking for an alien because if only Stein would be honest then he could say that he was, the alien that Sicily had been looking for but never found because Stein was now trying to hide the truth about himself.
"You could have done a much easier job but being part of the Professor is of course your wish and your dream. I can't possibly stand in the way because you'll be very happy if you get it. After this, it will be easier because I won't be worried anymore. I'm happy to give it to them and they won't refuse much."
There were many things you had to do again and all of them were still enough for Sicily to discuss with Stein although she could not force this man's thoughts about her work. Not everyone liked it and Merry still couldn't get over their lecturer's mindset. Even though they had been friends for years and even had very close interactions with the teacher but somehow suddenly John asked her to do something that was actually outside the discussion.
"If you're tired just sleep, tomorrow everything will get better. However, you have a responsibility and it must be completed. Hopefully everything will go your way," Stein said, making Sicily smile softly.
The girl didn't know if Stein was really saying that sincerely to her or because of something else. Because after all she knew that her job was a little strange, how could she have to look for aliens? On such a vast earth and there are too many humans passing by every day.
Moreover, aliens are the easiest creatures to adapt to, they are also rumored to have many abilities to liken themselves to ordinary humans. I don't know how all this will end, Sicily also doesn't know yet because she is still trying to do John's assignment. But what is certain is that until now she has never found the existence of aliens even after she has been doing the tasks ordered by the man for 2 days.
After spending the night at the back of the house and talking with Stein, Sicily went into the room and sat on the chair by the window. She paid attention to her surroundings where there were people passing by since her house was in the city although it was not that big. She watched the passers-by, but none of them looked suspicious.
"It seems that if I go out at night it will be more obvious if only inside the house I will only see my neighbors who are definitely not you like Professor John said."
Thinking for a while, Sicily finally picked up her jacket and long underwear before walking out of her room. Stein who was still awake noticed the woman's departure until he finally used the transparent method and followed her.
"Where is Sicily going? Does she have some business or work? Why is she out at night when she's never been out before?"
Stein continued to follow her until he finally found Sicily stopped on one of the side streets and staring at the people around her. The girl's gaze looked good as if she was searching for something, making Stein who stopped nearby finally figure out her intentions.
"She's looking for aliens here? Apparently the task given by her professor was too hard for Sicily to think about it like this. Her life is very difficult, it must not be happy to be her because she has to think about these many things she is also only a student or student. I got a little story with the professor, why is he so ambitious to get information about an alien? Does he have something to do with my missing family?"
For a moment Stein just watched Sicily who was still in place as if she didn't want to move anywhere. There are many people who pass by too much because this city is quite populated so they also live a lot with the people here.
This is one of the developed cities that can be said to be very popular in the country where Sicily lives. That's why now this girl probably came out on purpose because if she waited for her inside the house, she would never find what she was looking for.
"I never knew where you guys were staying when you arrived in this city. There doesn't seem to be any reports from the scouts that guard the country. I also didn't hear of any spaceships stopping here because of course the space watchers would report it if they saw it. This country is also not lacking in satellites so how can you get away with it when they have such a high network about it."
Sicily could only talk to herself and usefully think of all sorts of possibilities that could happen. Because after all, it made little sense to think about the words of those who said they had found aliens. She had lived in this town for many years, but had never encountered anything strange like what people said.
Even she passed by every day, why had she never found any signs of extraterrestrials coming to earth?
Walking again while stuffing her hands in her jacket pockets, Sicilia tried to walk through the streets to find the presence or absence of suspicious people. Right now she was trying to just live up to her expectations, as people had already found what they said about aliens while she had not.
"Where? I've never found anyone who has similar oddities as they say. But things were a bit of a stir back then, until it was noticed by organizations and professors. Even the government stepped in to deal with it so that nothing would lead to destruction and excessive anxiety. But I never found anything here. Have I actually missed it? Is it just seasonal and not here every day?"
Sicily walked a few more meters and Stein followed her because he wanted to protect her at the same time because he knew the aliens who had descended here were of unknown origin because he had not investigated but some of them did have malicious intentions that should be considered.
"If what I saw last night is anything to go by, it seems to be from the wild sects on a remote planet. I'll pass it on to Fregest for him to investigate later from there. I need to know where they came from and if they were the first to cause destruction on earth that's why people have captured some Aliens I won't spare them either. I must immediately make security and return them to space so as not to cause chaos."
"There is no one who tells me and has signs of lightning in his hands. Why did I never find them?"
Stein looked at Sicily's tired face. Little did this girl realize that she had actually met the aliens from the start because the Stein next to her was an alien. But the stand did not say that so as not to cause chaos as well, if it was discovered then it would be a problem that he and Sicily would not be able to live in peace.
"I'm so tired, tomorrow night I think I can do a walk like this again. Professor John will never let me be quiet before I manage to get what he wants," Sicily muttered as she sighed and walked away.
Just when she had just turned to leave, a light came from behind like an electric shock and that made Stein quickly move and strike the lightning to return it to an alien who instantly became ashes.
Sicily was already walking away not knowing what had happened behind her, she was walking leisurely while Stein was already staring at her walking away with a neck face. At least, Sicily wasn't hurt at all, because of the actions of the alien who really didn't know himself.
"Damn you for hitchhiking here," His cursed with an annoyed red face. "Don't be ignorant when you're on someone else's planet! His friends are going to destroy us! Don't you know they can already do anything or destroy us! They're no longer the left-behind humans we used to be!"
The aliens that were around disappeared quickly, without answering what he said. That made Stein quickly connect the system in his head, trying to contact Fregest in order to get help.
After all, he could not let them continue to be here and riot. Those aliens would only endanger human lives if not eradicated from now on.
"Oh my, the signal has gotten so bad that my connection is lost. It looks like I'll just leave a message on the system so that it can be connected to Fregest later."
Stein walked after Sicily quickly, not wanting the girl to experience anything. Upon discovering that she was fine, Stein arrived home at last.
That night Stein did not go out because he was guarding the house in case one of the aliens chased them here.
Sicily went straight into her room, not coming out again until morning made Stein also decide to rest. Because no matter how long it took, he had to be careful to find information about his family's whereabouts.
"I have to eradicate these evil aliens first. If I don't, it will be bad," he said as he lay down on the bed.
Stein looked up at the ceiling and found her current place to be beautiful. There were stars in the sky, just like where his place used to be. It was just that now it could not be careless to stay, because of the actions of the aliens, surely the earthlings would also not like it if they settled down and made destruction.
"What can I do but speed up the process of finding them. Where are they locked up? Why can't I detect them at all?"
Stein sighed softly and closed his eyes, before he finally went to sleep. Here she was so adapted to the situation, that everything felt so good when she could sleep.
"I need to find my parents, my family, get out of here and return to the planet with those wild aliens. Otherwise it will be hard for me to come up with an excuse let alone stop Sicily's suspicions."
