Chapter 14

UNEDITED

Fresh air hits Sabrina's face from the wound down the window of the limo.
She had asked Elroy to take her to Alden Enterprises Building, she also asked him not to let Nathan know she was coming.
He had no dinner or breakfast, and she couldn't just go about her day.

About 20 minutes after he left, she called the chef to make something for him. He whipped up some pancakes, eggs, bacon, and hash browns. She packed it up and got on her way.

Arriving at the front desk Jennifer remembers her. Sabrina asked her not to interrupt Nathan telling her that she was just dropping off his breakfast for him.

Jennifer however, calls his assistants letting them know about her arrival.

"I'm sorry Mrs. Alden I have too." She notifies once she puts the phone down.

An officer escorted her up the elevator again.

Employees were double-taking when she got to the floor.

Some smiled, and when she turns the corner. She hears "Yes." "Alright!" And some high-fiving going on.

What is all of that about?

The image of Vivian's face stopping her to look at her neck flashes before eyes.

Crap! She wanted to scream.
Everyone saw it. The moment she walked out of his office, they all knew.

Shame spread across her face. She thanked God she had enough sense to conceal it today.

The officer opens the door, and she saw two smiling assistants greeting her.

Anthony takes the container from her hand.
"Let me take that ma'am."

The female takes her hand. " Hi, I'm Jill."

Hi." She was very curious as to why they were so happy.

"Come please sit." Jill puts her in the chair in front of her desk.

"Would you like something to drink?" Anthony asks her from behind.

"No, I." She turns looking at his bright smile. It's wasn't this bright yesterday. "I just came to drop off this." She points to the dish on his desk.
"If you could just make sure he gets it." She stands.

"You're not going to in to see Mr. Alden?" Jill's smile fades.

Sabrina shakes her head.

Anthony walks in front of her blocking her path. "Wait, I think he might want to see you."

"Why?" The question just rolled off her tongue.

"Yesterday when you left. He was calmer. He didn't yell or snap at anyone. I guess, all I'm saying is it made everyone's day in here, a whole lot lighter." Jill replies.

The massage she gave him must have relaxed him. She was sorry, but she couldn't change his mood again. The first time was a fluke.

"He's in a meeting at the moment. I'm sure he will be done soon." Anthony makes a hand gesture for her to sit.

Sabrina looks at her feet then back to him. "I don't want to bother him."

"I'm sure he won't mind." As Jill said, the words Nathan's office doors open.

A man looking to be in his late 30s with black hair comes out. Nathan shakes his hands and then his eyes find Sabrina's.

He stops and furrows his brows.

"Come here." He tilts his chin toward his chest.

She obeyed. She grabbed his breakfast and hurried past him and into his office.

She goes to the front of his desk and sets down his lunch. While there, she double-takes. There was a tray with what looked like it had to breakfast in it. It immediately upset her.

"You had breakfast?" She turns to him and scowls.

"What's the matter with that?" He approaches her. He reaches and slides his palms down her shoulders.

She pushes him. "I asked you to eat, and you refused. Why couldn't you just tell me you were having breakfast here? She kept pushing harder until he takes a step back.

"Relax, I didn't think you would come all the way down here."

"You didn't think I would come all the way down here? I haven't eaten anything because of you." She bites her lips to hold back any more words.

"I'm sorry sweetheart." His voice was soft and regretful. He moves to her grabbing the hands.

He wasn't going to move this time. "Sit." He lifts her by her hips and places her in his chair. It happened so fast she didn't see it coming until her but hit the chair.

"No! I'm going home. She stands up only to be pushed back down.

"Sit! You're going to eat before you leave." He orders

"No! Just let me leave." Her but hits the seat regardless of her words.

"Sabrina stop being stubborn." He set a fixed tray and sat on his desk beside her. "Eat." He orders.

She glowers at him, crosses her arms, and leans back. "No."

He smiles at her and that scares her a little. She bites her lip. "I'll order something at the shelter." She was speaking a lot calmer now.

"No. You'll sit right here and eat."

"Fine." She lets out a frustrated breath.  The more she fights with him, the more he'll touch her. When he does that she can't think clearly. She pulls up the chair a little closer to the desk and begins to cuts the pancakes with a fork.

Nathan folded his arms and observed her with high concentration."What do you want out of life? Sabrina."

"What do you mean?"

"Where do you see yourself years from now? He reiterated the question.

She didn't think about her future. She couldn't. She took her life day by day. She took a big mouth full of eggs and shrugs her shoulders.

He clears his throat. "I wanna know what you see in your future." He reaches over and pushes hair behind her ear.

Goosebumps grew everywhere on her. He was so gentle, and if she didn't know better, she could think he cared for her. But Instead of letting her mind even entertain the thought she distracts herself with a half-drunken glass of orange juice sitting on his desk.

She swallows "I don't know." She lies.

She hated it, but she had too much pride to tell him the truth and that she knew what she wanted out of life. She wanted what her parents had. A happy marriage and home with a few kids. What if she told him that and he offered that out of pity or obligation to her? What if he felt like he had to do that to keep her from divorcing him.

Nathan watches the glass she just drank out of. He wondered if she knew his mouth was just on it. Then he wondered how much better it probably tasted now that her lips have touched it. This urge came over him to just have a sip.

"You have to know something." He picks up the glass and takes it back. Then licks his lips to savor the taste. It did taste better. He didn't like it before, now he couldn't get enough. Just like her lips.

Sabrina had to mentally scold her self to shut her mouth. He looked thirsty. But the way his eyes were fixated on her lips it was like he was thirsty for her mouth and not the juice.

Maybe she was overthinking it. Maybe he's just thirsty.

She looks back down at her half-eaten food. "Nathan, I'm done." An intense feeling hit her stomach she couldn't eat anymore.

He sets the glass down and looks at her plate. He knew it was a lot of food, so he let it slide.

"Ok, now answer my questions."

A She leans back her flat stomach bloated. "I told you. I don't know."

"I'm not accepting that."

"Don't you have work today?" She crosses her legs and arms.

He looks over his shoulder and sighs. "I do, but I'd like an answer from you."

"Why?" She didn't want to answer. She had to dig her brain for thoughts she didn't want to confront.

His attitude changes suddenly. He stands up and walks in front of his desk. "Because I'm your God damn husband! He rubs a frustrated hand through his hair. "By definition, that means I'm the man you will spend the rest of your life with! Is it a crime to want to know how you would like to spend it?"

She calmly sits while watching him lose it. "I think I should go."

"Sit!" He barks when he tries to get up.

Oh, all his employees are going to hate her after today.

He's grinding his teeth with both hands on the front of the desk. Veins start popping out his neck and temples again. "Listen to me. You're going to be with me forever." He rubs the back of his neck. "What I'm trying to say is. Let's give this marriage a try." Every word was extremely hard for him to say. He hated speaking his mind. It was no one's business.

She was flabbergasted, to say the least. Was she hearing him right? She didn't know what to say.

"Say something." He shoves his hands in his pocket.

"Why are you so angry? She mumbles.

"Because you can't seem to answer a question."

Buzz!! "Sir, Irene is here to see you."

He hits the button on the intercom." Tell her, I will be in a few minutes."

Sabrina moves out of his chair and around his desk. She wasn't headed for the door yet Nathan thought she was going. He grabs her hand and pulls her into his arms. He then sits on top of his desk with her between his legs.

Intending to hide from his kiss. She folds her arms around herself and sticks her head under his chin.

He wraps his hand around her, tightening his hold. He keeps her like that and breaths her in. He'd gotten addicted to he scent.
"Sabrina." He moans in her ear.

She loves the way he rubbed her arms and held her so close, and now, moans her name. God, she just wanted him to be an asshole. It would make this so much easier.

"Sweetheart, I can't seem to let you go." He reaches up spreading his fingers through her hair and tugs her head back. Then their lips meet with slow pleasure.

She wraps her arms around his neck and pulls him harder into her mouth like it was instinct.

Feeling her actions, he deepens the kiss but forces himself to pull her head back.
"Sabrina you need to leave now." He drops his hands to her hips pushing her back a little. "If you don't, I'm not going to stop." He holds on to her trying to catch his breath. "Think about what I've said. We'll talk later." He moves around and sits at his desk while adjusting his tie.

She was paralyzed by his kiss. It was too short and she hadn't had enough time to get her emotions in proper order.

"Go Sabrina." He demands. "I only have so much restraint."
