Chapter 27

Unedited.....

Nathan watches Sabrina leave the room. He wanted badly to stop and kiss her until she sees sense but, he realizes now that she was hurt by his words. He wasn't thinking when he spoke them. As usual, anger got the bests of him. She was the only person who could calm and anger him at the same time. He had to think of a way to get over that wall she has put up, and he has his whole life with her to do it. She wanted him just as badly as he did her. She could only hold out for so long. He discovered that he does have some patience. At least, when it came to her.

"Sir." Debra pops her head in the door.

"Yes."

"It's all set. You and your wife can probably move in within 45 days.

"That's not soon enough to find a way to speed up the process." He passes her leaving the room without her being able to protest and goes back to Sabrina waiting in the vehicle.

He decided that she was more stubborn than he thought. The only way to win with her was to let her come to him. She wanted him to stop touching her. Okay. As hard as it will be he had to listen.

The vehicle was silent for most of the ride. He replays her words to him. He needed to figure out what she wanted. He felt like there was more to her words than just anger. Did she want him to love her? He doesn't know the meaning of that word. That was something he couldn't do. He wasn't capable of loving anyone.

The longer they drove the further his mind drifted. He replays her words of acceptance. The last thing he did was accept her. She may not know it, but he wanted her long before they married.

TWO YEARS AGO.

Nathan's Flashback

Today was the day of the grand opening of the Alden Museum. It showcased all the developments the Alden's have made in the aircraft industry through the years.

Nathan arrived with a date a pretty blond name Sasha who was the daughter of one of his business associates. She was a persistent little number. She came with her father to a meeting and boldly asked for a night with him. He told her that's all he would be interested in. He hasn't had and evening free until tonight, so he decided to bring her to this event. After an hour of smiling and annoying questions from his date, Sasha decided she needed to freshen up.

As he waits for her, Nathan sits on a bench against the cool white wall. Suddenly A jingle of bracelets causes him to lift head. He sees a girl a beautiful woman. She was looking at an airplane model reading the plaque. She had on a light pink silk skirt and a black lace top. She had long cherry brown hair and gorgeous eyes. He was transfixed to the movement of her eyelashes and lips as she read.

He kept staring watching her move back getting a better view. Then moving forward to get a closer view.

"I'm back." Sasha stands in front blocking his view.

Fuck. He forgot about her. He stands up and looks over her head. The beautiful girl was gone. Without really thinking about it, he had already decided he was taking her to his bed tonight. Just looking at her created an itch he needed to be scratched. Sasha was going home.

"Listen, I have to go back to the office." He lied as his eyes roam the Museum in search. "I'll have a car drop you home." He glances at her face moment impatient for an answer. He had to find this girl.

"Um... Ok." She scratches her head.
"Another time then?"

"Maybe." He moves away without a look back. He looks around first not seeing the beautiful girl and then left with the same result. As he walks around searching for her, he texted his driver to pick up Sasha.

"Hi, Nathan." A brunette woman put her hand on his arm just as he hits send.

"I'm Tanya Sanchez." She introduces herself.

Fuck He couldn't get out of this. He was making an offer to buy their company along with another rival company. He hated kissing ass, but he couldn't let his competition be any larger than they already are.

After about a half-hour of talking, she leaves with her husband. He gets trapped in a conversation with a few other people before sitting on a stone bench in front of the exit. He lets out a deep breath and runs a hand through his hair.

Then he hears it that jingling sound again. His eyes follow the sound and there she is watching a model engine. He didn't think anyone could knock the wind out of him, but she did.

The memory he had of her from earlier didn't do her justice. Mesmerized he watches her every movement. He had every intention of going over and talking to her, he just wanted to look at her a bit longer.

Suddenly he felt like someone was watching him intently. His eyes move a little to her left. A man looking to be in his early 50's was watching him watch her. Not knowing what else to do he nods his head. The older man also nods his head and then walks over to the beautiful girl. He puts his arm around her shoulder and escorts her out of the building.

Fuck. The man was obviously her father. They didn't seem like a couple.

Later on, he would find out exactly who that man was. Over the next few months, he couldn't get her off his mind, and he had no idea how to find her. The only thing he has was her description which he gave to the guards at the museum. One of the guards texted him a picture of a girl they thought was her, but it wasn't. After a month of coming up, empty-handed he tries to forget her. It was a lot harder then he expected it to be.

Then Desmond calls him over to his childhood home. He offers a drink and then hit with a marriage proposal. He instantly refuses. His father even pleads with him, for the sake of their company but he still refuses. "Her name is Sabrina Reed. Go over to this place." Desmond hands Nathan a card with a bar's name on it. "Meet her and then make up your mind. If you don't agree, I'll have to hand over half Alden enterprises." The way his father spoke it was like he knew something. He had the same look he has when he closes a major deal.

"You want me to marry a stranger, and you won't give me at least, a good enough reason why?"

"If you want to keep this company you will."

Desmond turns his back dismissing Nathan.

A few days pass. Nathan's contemplating on what he should do. He could hardly see the seriousness of the situation. After a late night at work, he decides to go and visit this bar and meet the bitch who had his father by the balls.

He sits at the bar and realizes he has no idea what to look for. Then he hears a male voice call. "Sabrina!"

"Yeah!" He hears a soft yell from across the bar. He turns and locks eyes with the girl from the museum.

He studies as she picks up a few empty bottles from a table and throws them it in the garbage.

He knew at that moment as his gaze lingered on her that he caused this marriage proposal. Her father knew he wanted her.

"Can you cover Lizzie's shift tomorrow?" The guy behinds the counter asks her.

"Sure." She agrees as she picks up some more bottles.

This had to be some kind of joke. This was the girl. He was disappointed in her character. She was money hungry just like every other girl in the world. He hops off the stool and leaves. The next day he told his father he would marry her. He never established in his own head why he was doing it, he just did.

On their wedding day, he intended to take her to his bed, but she didn't seem like she wanted his touch. He decided he would leave her be. She wanted money not him. He told himself repeatedly that he did it to save the company.

After over a year of ignoring her, he finds out she is not money-hungry. He finds out she's sweet, kind, and gentle. He finds out that she didn't know why she had to marry him. He finds out that his nieces and nephews love her. He finds out that the hardest challenge of his life is keeping his hands off of her.

Present

Three weeks after buying their new home. The new house was completely packed. They moved in three days ago. Sabrina has been supervising movers and new household employees on where and how to pack things. It was all strange to her, having to put her own taste into their new home. Nathan insisted she picked out all the home decor. He also insisted on her taking the master bedroom. No longer living with anyone else, they no longer needed to pretend. He agreed to sleep in another bedroom but demanded his things stayed in the master bedroom.

Since seeing the home, Nathan has completely back off. He kept busy working in his work. No matter how hard she tried, the thought of another woman in his arms grew jealousy in her. She tries to force her mind to focus on what's right in front of her but fails. Her mind keeps running back to Nathan, and how she wanted so badly to let her guard down. She almost did something she never thought she would. She was willing to try being a real couple, having a real marriage until he told her flat out that whatever they had to together, was only because of blackmail. He wanted that agreement that their fathers made, but she didn't have it. Knowing this didn't stop her mind from wondering.

What is he doing? Who is he with? She wanted not to become the annoying nagging wife. Nathan didn't need a wife obsessing over him. This is what she was trying to prevent, and it happened anyway. She was going to hurt no matter what because her heart is already in it.

Standing in her room over a cardboard box, Wanda wrote 'Sabrina' random on it. It was one of the last few boxes she had left to pack so instead of dwelling on what could never be she opens the box finding random items like her old cheerleading outfit and yearbook. She scans the pages.

"Sabrina."

Gasping she drops the yea book and turns to see Nathan. He frightened her.
Dressed in a jet-black tuxedo, he was supposed to be working late but somehow he's freshly shaved and smells of cologne.

"Yes." She puts her hand to her heart feeling the vibrations from the hard pumping.

He sticks his hands in his pocket. "I didn't mean to scare you. I just wanted to let you know I'm going out, I'll be home very late maybe not at all.

She was unable to form words. This was the first time he has ever said he wouldn't be home.

He probably finally wanted to satisfy his sexual urges. Maybe he already did.

She looks at her fingers playing with each other. She wanted to ask him all of those annoying questions. Knowing that would only cause the wrong idea she simply nods her head her eyes never reaching his. She focuses her attention on the box in front of her.

"Sabrina." She hears Nathan. He sounds as if he was pleading with her.

"Yes."

He stares at her for a long moment, then just shakes his head.

"Nothing. Don't wait up." He leaves her in their new home alone.
