Chapter 26

Unedited...

Sabrina walked on the dark wood floor leading into a gigantic mansion. This was the second house that Nathan and she were seeing, and Sabrina didn't show any kind of excitement.

The realtor Debra points around explaining something she wasn't hearing. Her thoughts were elsewhere. Like how empty that place would be with just the two of them in it. It reeked of an unhappy married couple. Couldn't Nathan see that? Couldn't he see how wrong this Manson was for them? Well, couldn't he see how wrong the last one was too?

As if on cue Nathan's hand touches her back. "You like it?" He speaks close to her ear.

She shrugs her shoulders. "It's ok."

She turns to face him and meets his eyes. "Can we go and look at the next one?"

He nods his head a smile playing on his lips.

They drive for about a half-hour before they arrive a large bar iron gates. Sitting in Nathan's Land Rover waiting behind Debra's Toyota Camry. They've been following her around to the properties.

Debra hands a guard some paperwork and ID. When he hands them back to her the gates open and they proceed into a very windy and woodsy driveway. It was very long and after a few minutes, they come around a bend to a house. It was not as big as the last two they seen but it was beautiful. The outside painted light blue and had a huge front yard with dark green grass. She watches Nathan's how he maneuvers the vehicle up a hill and parks it. Once they unbuckle their seat belts and jump out the truck Nathan walks near her keeping his hands on her lower back. They meet Debra entering a four digit code to open the front door.

"If you don't like this one, well keep looking ok." Nathan whispers in her ear as they cross the doorway.

The first thing she sees is the bright sunlight flooding through the floor to ceiling windows brightening up the living area. The wood on the floor was a golden brown color and the paint on the walls were eggshell white. Sabrina's eyes lite up when she notices it was unlike the other homes they looked at, how unlike his parents mansion it was. It actually looked like a home.

She was walking through the living area about to look out a window when Nathan grabs her hand. He pulls her away to face him. "What do you think?"

"I need to see the rest of it first."

Nathan smiles and nods his head again. She was starting to wonder what was so funny.

She was shown the kitchen. French doors around it leading to the back yard which Nathan wouldn't let her near. He kept a firm hand on her. She ignores it and looks at her wrap around counters and her kitchen island with a sink in the middle. Marble counter tops double oven and flat top electric stove. The other places were more set up for of twelve.

She looks over at Nathan.

"Let me show you upstairs." Debra breaks their eye contact.

She leads them up hidden stairs near the back door. Light brown floors again and a total of 6 bedrooms all with their own private bath. When they arrive at the master suite, Debra leaves them to talk and check out the bedroom.

As Sabrina checks everything out, Nathan seemed to only be interested in watching her. Following with his eyes as she notices the room had a balcony. Glass doors with gold trimming around is before it leading out.

"Want to take a look?" He approached her passing her and opening the doors.

He was acting funny the whole trip today, and he wasn't looking at any of the properties. He hasn't been looking at anything. It's like he doesn't care where they live.

"Come here Sabrina." He tilts his head towards his chest in command.

Leaving her thoughts, she steps out into the balcony. Putting her hands on the railing and smelling the fresh air she notices a huge green lawn, pool, patio, garden, and a waterfall. It was beautiful. Her eyes started to roam around the lands near the home.

"Oh my god! Look, a deer." She looks back at Nathan behind her and points showing him two brown deers sniffing around a bush.

He puts his arms around her waist.

"Look over there." He points directly in front of her showing a little black bear.

She jumps in excitement. "This is amazing Nathan."

"I know." He turns her putting one hand on her cheek. "Say the word and it's ours."

Her smile disappears. It could never actually be theirs. Their marriage isn't real and no matter how much Nathan tries to pretend it is.

"Moving out isn't going to make anything better." She pulls his hands from her face and walks away. Standing half way into the room, she turns around suddenly. He stood mere inches from her.

She looks at his eyes scanning her face. "Sabrina." He takes both of her hands in his. "I need you to stop overthinking everything. Do you think I would like to live with my parents forever?"

She shakes her head. "No."

"Do you honestly think I was living with them before we married?"

She shrugs her shoulders

"Well, I wasn't. Look no matter how much you don't like it right now, you're my wife, and your opinion matters. Where you will be spending our life matters. I would like for you to be happy wherever you live." He cups her jaw with his right hand. "Now tell me, can you spend the rest of your life here?"

She swallows hard and bites her lip. "I guess."

Nathan's eyes become hypnotize by her lips, his thumb reaches up and gently caresses it. He pulls her head in to connect with his desperate mouth. A moan of relief escapes his throat. He feels her becoming limp and wraps his arms around her bringing her to his chest. Her arms wrap around his neck, and she deepens the kiss letting out a moan of her own.

His grip on her tightens and his mouth becomes more demanding. He reaches behind her neck and grab her hair pressing her lips onto his.

She couldn't be close enough for him. He massages her mouth breathing in her hypnotic scent and tasting her sweet lips. He lifts his head after a few moments and aims for her neck. "I want to be with you, Sabrina."

Sabrina in trance grabs his head forcing his lips back on her mouth. She didn't want him to break the spell as bad as it sounded. The deepest parts of her, the parts that wanted Nathan above anything else reacted first. She wanted to make sure he couldn't make her find a reason to push on his chest. A light knocks sounds from the door breaking them apart.

She wipes her mouth like Debra would be able to see Nathan's kisses on them. Then watches Nathan takes his finger through his hair and clears his throat. "Come in." Hey replies, lust still attached to his voice.

"So what do you two think?" Debra asks as she strolls in pointing at the balcony.

Sabrina turns to face her completely only to feel Nathan's large hand turning the corner around her waist. He tugs her back to connect with his chest and brings his mouth to her ears. "Answer her." He whispers.

"I love it." She answers truthfully.

"So I can tell the owner you are finalizing your offer, Mr. Alden?"

Sabrina turns bending her neck back looking at him in confusion. He already put in an offer? His both hands grip her hips, but his eyes move to Debra. "Yes please do that." Debra quickly pulls out her phone and exits the room.

Nathan's gaze returns to her penetrating stare. "What?" He brings his hands to her upper arms, moving up and down.

"You made an offer already?"

He nods. "I'd seen all three properties last week. I thought this one would be perfect for us.

"What if I didn't like it?"

"I knew you would like it Sabrina, and just in case you didn't." He begins to move hair from her face. "I've held off on finalizing the offer until you've seen it but, they are many other people interested, so I had to make and offer larger than it was listed for."

She grabs hold of his hand and takes a step back. "You didn't have to do that." She drops his hands.
This was not so fairy tale that was coming true and she knew it. She was entirely frustrated with herself and not being able to control her desires for him.

"I wanted to." He reaches out and grabs her arm quickly pulling her back to him.

"And I want you here with me every day."

"Are you kidding me?" She lets out a laugh. "You, the man who hates even the thought of marriage. Please" she drags out the word. "Don't try to burden yourself with a wife you've had to accept." She was throwing his words at him. His words of acceptance and what's been given to him. She was going to hold onto everything that he has ever said that hurt her. It was the only way she could keep her dignity, keep her pride, and the little self-confidence she had left.
"I don't need you to accept me. I don't need you to try to make this marriage real, and I definitely don't need you to pretend to care about me, or where I would like to live because I've already told you, I want out, but all you seem to care about is yourself and your stupid company." She rips herself out of his hold and takes a few steps back. "Please. Just understand that I can't Nathan. I just can't." Her eyes glisten. "I can't be with you." There was just too much she couldn't get passed.

She turns away and runs out of the house, passing Debra on the phone. She didn't look back at Nathan once, she goes into the SUV.

Once the door is closed, she brings her knees up and sticks her face in her thighs. She was not going to let herself cry. She had to make it clear to him that she would never be accepted. She wanted to be someone's first choice, and Nathan didn't choose her, he didn't love her and she could never believe that he cares for her, because there will always be a stupid piece of paper between them. A question as why he is with her? Why he acts so caring and sweet. She will doubt every single action towards her. She would always wonder if her father's sketch comes to light would he divorce her? She would rather him be unfaithful than to want freedom while he's with her.
