Chapter 17
Unedited...
A tipsy Sabrina leans on the wall of a packed club with loud music almost bursting her eardrum. She standing waiting in line for the bathroom swaying back and forth like she spent the last half hour spinning around in circles.
Tonight was maybe the fifth time she has had a drink. This time, she drank a lot more than she usually would.
Clarissa asked her to come out for a girl's night out.
Her, Baylee, and Lola. Yes, Lola. After a week of avoiding Nathan and Nathan seeming to do the same. She decided, hey, why not.
When she came downstairs to meet the waiting ladies. Baylee has strict orders. She said to Clarissa and Sabrina that if Lola asks who Sabrina is, she should say Clarissa's friend. That's what she was told at the family get together.
Clarissa protested. "She's going to find out eventually."
"Yeah but, I'd rather later than sooner Baylee replies." You've changed too much." She adds grabbing her bag and heading out the door.
They arrived at a place called. The Hot Tub.
It was huge and blasting music. Baylee immediately leads them to the bar and calls the bartender by name. She orders tequila shots to start.
They move to a booth on the second floor overlooking the dance floor.
Clarissa and Sabrina sat on one end of the table and Baylee and Lola on the other.
They take two sets of shots together, and they start talking. They comment on cute guys and ugly girls. Sabrina mostly listens. She wasn't a talkative drunk. She was the type of drunk that after a few glasses she was ready for a nap.
More drinks come and although she knew she was probably at her limit she didn't want to be a party popper.
Beers arrive soon after that, and now this her second time going to the bathroom.
She finally, after fifteen minutes of waiting on the bathroom line gets to pee.
When she scoots over near Clarissa. A really upbeat song starts to play.
Baylee and Lola start dancing in their seats. Clarissa sways back and forth singing the lyrics. "How does it feel to be a mother of four?" Sabrina questions her out of her own curiosity.
Clarissa turns to face her smiling. "It's amazing." She keeps swaying looking relaxed and happy.
Sabrina swings her head to Baylee and Lola, who are in conversation screaming in each other's ear.
Baylee seems to look a little upset. She gets up and leaves the tables walking toward the bathrooms.
Lola leans back and looking completely distressed.
"What's wrong?" Sabrina shouts from over the table. Normally she wouldn't ask, but she hardly cared about her own actions at the moment.
Lola looks up with her eyes watery and shakes her head. "Nothing."
Sabrina wasn't going to push. She takes a couple of sips of her drink.
"Where's Baylee?" Clarissa asks just realizing her sister's disappearance.
"I think she went to the bathroom," Sabrina replies.
She watches Clarissa get up and slowly walks in that direction, then looks over to see tears falling from Lola's eyes. "Are you ok?" She questions without thinking.
Lola looks up. "No, I'm in love with a man that will never love me." She grabs a napkin and wipes her eyes. "I'm sure you know him, Baylee's brother Nathan."
Sabrina was a little taken. She's in love with Nathan? Baylee said it was a crush.
Lola blows her nose and blabs on. "I always thought he was attractive but. It wasn't until the day of the car accident that I fell for him."
Sabrina took back the last of her beer. "Car accident?"
"Clarissa was driving a Porsche Panamera S her dad bought for her 17 birthday. He told Nathan to come with us. He sat in the back with Baylee and me. I don't remember much else other than Nathan pulling me and covering me with his body as another car hits ours, but thankfully we all suffered minor cuts and bruises." She takes her drink back and calls for a waiter with her hands. "Well everyone but me. My heart will never heal, and I have Baylee to thank for that."
"How so?" She couldn't hide anything she was thinking.
"She invited me to that stupid party! It's funny because first, she tells me for years to get over him. And then, suddenly she tells me to get it out of my system. Just sleep with him." She takes her drink from the waiter.
Taking it back she made a sour face and wipes her mouth. "I hit on him at the party. You know what happens?" Her eyes were beginning to get droopy, and her words slurred.
"He told me not to touch him! God! How embarrassing?! Every time I think about it I want to throw up, as a matter of fact, I want to throw up all over Baylee."
Sabrina giggles.
Lola starts to giggle herself. They both get quiet after a few seconds. Sabrina looks over to the dance floor. Then it hits her. She was technically Nathan's wife. She begins to feel guilty. Lola technically confessed her love for Nathan to his wife.
Out the corner of her eyes, she saw a figure coming back to the table. It was Baylee and behind her was Clarissa draped in Jacob's arms. Sabrina hardly realized anything was out of place.
Lola looks up confused. "I thought this was a girl's night out."
Baylee swallows hard. "I need to talk to you."
"We're going to dance," Clarissa says pulls her husband to follow her to the dance floor.
Baylee slips in the booth looking at Lola seriously.
"Sabrina isn't." She was cut off by a large presence joining the table.
Sabrina whips her cloudy head around to see her husband scooting over the booth next to her. It was like a dream, and he looked devastatingly hot wearing designer jeans and a t-shirt. She can smell his cologne that could make any woman melt in his arms
"Nathan!" She puts her arms around his neck. "You're here!"
His hand's on her waist gave her butterflies. She smells him deeply and, shamelessly making a long moaning sound like when you smell something divine.
His arms wrap around her holding her to his chest.
"What are you doing here?" She mumbles in the crook of his neck.
"I came to see what you were doing?" He spoke in her ear. The music was loud and can barely hear him.
"Why?" She grabs on to his shoulder making sure he hears her.
He shrugs his shoulders, then looks at the waiter like he has some magical power and the waiter looks at him
He orders brandy on the rocks and turns to face her.
"I've missed you." She blurts out.
He smiles and reaches for her face. "I've missed you too." He gently cups her jaw. His eyes darken searching her face. He begins to pull her towards him, mesmerized and wanting to kiss her.
"Nathan." Baylee interrupts.
They look over to Baylee and Lola.
Crap! Sabrina forgot Lola was sitting right there, and her glare was fierce. If looks could kill, Lola's will send you to hell
"You're such a bitch!" Lola screams. "I just poured my heart out telling you how in love I am in with him."
"Lola." Baylee grabs her arm.
Nathan's hand rested on Sabrina's thigh tightens. His jaw started to clench.
"Oh, I can't wait for him to move on to next. I can't wait to see your broken face!" She continues to yell rising from her seat.
Everything was muddled in Sabrina's head. She looks at welled up tears and years of built-up anger in Lola's eyes.
"She's his wife!" Baylee yells.
Lola looks down at her best friend with tears dripping from her eyes. "But...but you told me to come down to the party to sleep with him. Why would you do that if he's married?"
Nathan stiffens. "What?!"
Baylee bows her head.
"Baylee." He asks while gritting his teeth. "Is that true?" He demands an answer.
Sabrina's head involuntarily leans on Nathan's shoulder. She closes her eyes and listens to the music, uncaring of the conversation going on around her.
Nathan snakes his arms around her and kisses her forehead. He becomes transfixed around her. He touches her face and whispers to her ear and said: "You okay?"
She wraps her arms around his bicep getting comfy.
"Hmm-mm." She moans.
He turns back, with curious eyes looking at his sister and her friend. "How much has she had to drink?" He asks forgetting his first question.
Lola gets up from the table and storms off. He rolls his eyes.
Baylee followed her answering neither of his questions.
He looks back at his wife. He hasn't removed his hands from her and whispered in her ear. "Can you walk sweetheart?"
She swings her head up. "Hmm-mm." She nods.
"You look like you need a bed. Come on let's go home."
She takes his hand and as he leads her to the waiting limo outside, he holds her firmly.
She leans against the door with her eyes closed. He grabs her wanting her to rest on him. He pulls her into his chest and begins to play with her hair.
She inhales his intoxicating scent and suddenly she's straddling him.
"Nathan." She moans and covers his mouth.
It was like heaven. He held on to her tasting the lemon-flavored liquor off her tongue. This wild side of her was a complete surprise. She grinds on him, and when she sticks her tongue in his mouth, he takes control. Lifting her and laying her on the seat. He loves how flushed she looked. He crushed his mouth to hers again and stayed there for a while. When he finally comes up for air. "Fuck." He groans. "Why couldn't you be sober sweetheart?"
She responds by grabbing on to his neck and pulling him back down.
"Kiss me, Nathan." She mouths on his lips.
He loses his control and kisses her passionately holding her against himself. They paid no mind the to bumpy car ride out of the city and back into Brentwood.
After a while, he takes her hands and pins them down. He then forces his lips apart from hers. With heavy breaths. "I should say fuck it, you're my wife. I have every right to make love to you drunk or sober." He releases her, sits himself up, and pulls her with him. "But I want you sober."
They sit silently for the rest of the ride back. Sabrina's eyes began to feel like concrete blocks. They became heavier and heavier until they felt like they were superglued shut with sleep.
SOMETIME IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT.
Sabrina wakes with a gag, and she has the worst headache of her life. The darkroom feels like it's spinning. She tries to get up and run to the bathroom but she can't. A heavy arm holding her tight against a firm chest.
She couldn't think about anything other than all of the alcohol that wants to perch her body. She gags again and covers her mouth. She holds it together long enough to try and get his arm off around her.
"Nathan." She grabs the arm trying to free herself. "Nathan." She pleads again when he tightens.
"Nathan I don't feel well." She manages to get out.
He must have finally heard her. He releases her, and she runs to the bathroom. She quickly lifts the lid and pukes. If he didn't let her go, she would have thrown up all over the bed.
The lights she didn't bother to turn on switches.
Nathan enters the bathroom. She didn't look at him. She's still violently vomiting alcohol.
"Nathan." She mutters in between. "Please, don't come in." She holds a hand up only for Nathan to stoop beside her and take it. He moves her hair from her face and then rubs her back until she dry heaves herself tired.
"You alright?" Nathan continues to rub her back.
She felt way better, but she still didn't feel 100%.
She shakes her head lightly and moves to get up with Nathan's assistance.
She brushes her teeth and gargles with mouthwash. He brings the bottle of water they kept for Dylan. "Drink sweetheart." He hands it to her.
She obeys and drinks the whole bottle.
He stands in the doorways to the bedroom. "Feeling better?"
She wants to nods but at the risk of feeling nauseated again she answers "Yes."
Her still fuzzy brain was a little lost at the moment. But all she could think about was getting back to bed.
