Chapter 21. Return

Nathaniel ran over to Tom. He stopped in front of Tom breathlessly. Before speaking, he looked left and right, making sure no one would hear their conversation.

Tom was confused to find Nathaniel in a hurry. "What's wrong, Nathaniel?" he asked.

"Tom, we have to find a way out as soon as possible. I don't want to be here much longer," Nathaniel insisted, he didn't want to be here long.

He was fed up with Arcyl's arbitrary nature, making some of them feel uncomfortable, and chose to run away. Although his life will never be calm because Arcyl will not let those who run away from him have a peaceful life.

Tom nodded in agreement. "You're right, I don't want to stay here long. We have to go, I'm taking Rose and my mother away." Tom's resolve.

Tom wants to live in peace with Rose, Leo, and his mother without any interference from Arcyl.

"I will attract the attention of the palace guards, and you, then leave this palace," continued Tom explaining their plan.

"Then you? How could I go alone freely? Meanwhile, you, Rose, and your mother are still tormented here," Nathaniel replied.

Leaving his friend alone, while he is gone is not in his nature.

Tom held Nathaniel's shoulder. "Nathaniel, listen to me! Once you've made it out, come over to my house, and take care of Leo. I'll try to leave with Rose and my mom," explained Tom.

"No. I'll only go with you guys. I'll help take Rose and your mother away, we can leave this palace together," chuckled Nathaniel.

Tom looked at Nathaniel pleadingly. "Please, Nathaniel!" he asked in a pleading tone.

Nathaniel sighed. "Okay, I'll go first," Nathaniel said. Tom is stubborn.

Tom smiled happily, he just hoped this plan would work and they could leave this palace. And of course with Rose and her mother.

"But, I will wait for you in the forest behind this palace," continued Nathaniel.

"It's okay, just wait there," answered Tom.

"When are we going to do this plan?" asked Nathaniel.

Tom looked at Nathaniel. "When do you think? Of course now, the sooner the better," answered Tom.

Nathaniel and Tom started his plan. Tom went towards the palace's back door guard to distract the back door guard.

"Are there any more assignments?" asked Tom of the guards.

The guards looked at each other. Why ask whether there is another task or not? Shouldn't be grateful if there is no task? But, why did Tom ask as if he wanted a task?

They were confused by Tom. But they didn't bother.

"If you're not told to, you should just rest. Not everyone can rest after completing their tasks." one of the guards shouted.

"Oh really?"

Tom just kept talking to them. He gave a code through his eyes to Nathaniel to get out the back door immediately. Nathaniel catches the code from Tom, he exits immediately.

After seeing Nathaniel leave, Tom ended their conversation.

"Okay, I'd like to rest a bit," said Tom.

Tom lied. He didn't rest but headed for the concrete fort barrier, the large fortress that separated him from Rose.

Many guards are guarding the fort. It seems that Arcyl is angry, thus separating himself and Rose.

Tom took a stone from his pocket that he took earlier, he looked at the stone, then he threw it towards the side door of the palace.

The sound of the stones reached the ears of the guardian of the concrete fort.

One of them asked his friend. "What sound is that?"

"Don't know. Could Tom and Nathaniel have run away?"

Hearing his friend's words, they immediately checked all the doors, including the back door.

"Hey, is it safe here?" he asked the guard at the back door.

"It's safe, we've been staying here."

Hearing the back door guard's answer, they checked all the side doors.

Seeing the guards no longer guarding the huge concrete fort. Tom immediately climbed the fort.

"Rose!" called Tom after he managed to climb up. He saw Rose talking to Regina while cutting the grass.

Rose turned to Tom with a surprised face.

"Tom?" Rose put the tool to cut the grass. He headed toward Tom.

"Tom, how did you get here? What if you get caught?" asked Rose worriedly.

She was afraid that they would be found out, and would be punished with severe punishment. Only once had she felt this way. She wants to live a normal life like before, with her children and husband.

Tom put his arm around Rose's shoulder "I'll make sure they don't find out, I'll take you out of here soon," said Tom confidently.

"Yes, you must take me away from here as soon as possible," Rose replied hopefully.

Tom looked at Regina. "Mom, please take care of Rose for a bit, will you?" demanded Tom, to which Regina agreed.

"I'll be right back, Rose," he said

Tom kissed Rose's forehead, and Regina's eyes heated up at the sight in front of her.

After saying that, Tom went to the room where his mother was. He walked slowly, pushing open the door of the room.

"I told you, didn't I? Tom will climb up to meet you if there are no guards out front," Regina said to Rose.

"Yeah, you're right. Tom is so strong he can climb that big concrete fort." Rose was amazed.

Regina laughed at that.

While Tom immediately hid his body behind the door, when the guard passed through the room.

"I heard someone ran away."

"Yes, the other guards are looking for him. I don't know what will happen if the master finds out."

Tom had heard the guard passing by. It turned out that they already knew, he had to quickly take Rose and his mother away.

"Mom..." Tom whispered looking at his mother who was tied to a chair.

"Mom, I will immediately take you away from this palace. Don't worry, Mom!" said Tom to Regina.

Tom immediately united Regina, supporting his limp mother.

"Let's go, Mom."

Tom approached Rose with his mother supporting him. "Rose, let's go!"

Rose wanted to ask who the woman her husband was carrying was. However, she endured it knowing the situation was bad.

"Let's go from here!" asked Tom. As she was about to take a step, Regina spoke.

"If we go home walking, it will take too long. If we change our form into wolves, it will be faster," said Regina.

"I'm still strong for that," said Regina. She was still able to go to Tom's house using her wolf form.

"But Rose can't change. The only way for Rose to change and have the same power as us is for you to bite her," Regina suggested.

"No, I do not want to!" Rose refused fearfully, her shoulders shaking.

The first time he saw Tom turn into a wolf he was already scared, how about this one?

Tom held Rose's shoulder, "Hey, calm down. Don't be afraid, I just bit on your arm, it won't hurt, if it hurts you can scratch my back. But, if you don't want to, it's okay," explained Tom, of course, Tom expected Rose to agree.

Rose bit her lip worriedly. If she walked, it would take a long time. It's been a long time since she met his son.

"Okay, you can bite my arm," said Rose, holding out her arm.

"Are you serious?" asked Tom in disbelief. It was undeniable that he was also happy, which meant that Rose could accept her true identity.

"Yeah, we're married anyway. I want to meet Leo quickly." Rose said forcedly.

Tom took Rose's arm, Rose closed her eyes in fear.

"Ow!" Rose screamed when she felt a pain in her arm.

Tom stroked the wound on Rose's hand from the bite. "I'm sorry I hurt you," Tom regretted.

"No problem, just a small wound can still be treated," Rose replied, she was only surprised to scream.

Now Rose has become part of the werewolf race.

"Mom, come with us. We'll take you to a safe place," said Tom. Regina just nodded in agreement.

After securing Regina. Tom took Rose and Regina out of the palace. After they were far from the palace, Tom gave a signal to Nathaniel.

"Finally succeeded, I was afraid you would be found out," said Nathaniel.

Nathaniel is afraid that Tom will not make it, and will be found out instead. That would get them punished even more severely by Arcyl.

"No. As planned, let's go home, Millie will be waiting," said Tom happily.

They changed their forms into wolves and headed to the human Tom's house.

Arriving home, Rose immediately ran into the house. She was looking for his son.

"Ah, my son!" Rose shouted when she saw Leo being carried by Millie. Rose took Leo from Millie's arms.

Seeing Rose's whereabouts, Millie was happy. It seemed they had made it out of Arcyl's palace.

"Rose, where are they?" asked Millie to Rose who was kissing Leo's cheek.

"They're downstairs, I left them," she answered.

"Millie, what about Leo when I'm not home?" Rose asked while playing with Leo's cheek. Leo smiled amusedly.

"So cute," Rose muttered as she saw Leo smile as he stroked her cheek.

"Leo cries all the time when you're not here. And sorry, I sold things in your house to buy Leo some milk."

"It's okay, Millie. The important thing is that Leo is okay," Rose answered gently.

"Leo, do you miss this mother of yours?" Rose asked her son with a smile.

Leo, who didn't understand, just smiled, his tiny hands trying to hold Rose's cheeks.

"If you miss, come on say," Rose gave Leo kisses repeatedly on the cheek, until his cheeks turned red. Leo held the cheek of his mother who was kissing him with a smile and tried to speak until his saliva came out.

"Oh, you want to say it by holding your mother's cheek, is that it?" Rose asked Leo, she chuckled with delight.

Rose smiled happily at her son. She could not imagine if they would be cooped up forever in that palace. If so, Rose wouldn't be able to meet Leo again and even see Leo's progress.

Rose is grateful to have a husband like Tom, Tom wants to try so they can get out of Arcyl's palace with enthusiasm. Even though Tom had disappointed her by lying to her.
