Chapter 19 The First Class Suite

"Oh my god, the food here is divine!"
I can't choose what to eat first.
There were so many to pick and the four of us were so delighted to see how luxurious the foods looked in this level of bunker.
We were all seated at a table full of seafood, proteins like beef, chickens, pork, lush vegetables, and plumpy fruits. How did this bunker attain such ingredients and meats? Over half of the population of this world starves and here these rich people are, taking everything for granted without thinking of the other half of the world.
Maybe this is the reason why other continents hated Arcania. And wanted the land for their own because of these selfish, self-absorbed, less compassionate people.
My mood made the food taste bad in my mouth.
"What's wrong? Can't choose?" Jason asked while his mouth was full. Li and Mona also dug on the food in front of us and they were too busy eating to notice my vexing.
"Nothing." I inhaled and smiled at Jayson, trying to look cheerful for the blessing that came to us which I know was Timothy's act of charity. "I don't think I have the appetite yet."
"Are you kidding me?! Here, try this!" Li placed a chicken leg on my plate and some vegetable salad. My mouth watered at the sight of the juicy meat in front of me and the fresh lettuce which I've been dreaming of for days.
"It's ok, Harriet. I could sense you hate how these people live a life of luxury while children outside Arcania die in hunger. But you need strength and you won't find your family if you're feeling weak." Jason sympathetically told me as he stopped eating. He was worried.
I swallowed and looked at him from the corner of my eye. He"s right. I needed strength to find my dad and Carl and even though I felt bad about eating the food, my mood changed again as I tasted the chicken. Oh, heavens! I have never tasted food so good like this before. Knowing my dad sucked at cooking and I grew tired of my own cooking. I was just glad that Carl didn't complain whenever the food I made was too salty or bland. He"s such a sweet boy and I feel bad that he suffers from this kind of situation and cannot enjoy his childhood.
I hope my little brother is here. I might think differently if they're here, enjoying this food with my friends. I wonder if they're eating well and if Carl could sleep at night comfortably. I knew dad would do everything to take care of him and I had to hurry and find them.
This floor was for upper-class people in Zone four and dad and Carl was probably in the middle-class level of this bunker. I hate the fact that even here, the ambassador still managed his people into factions and it's disagreeable thinking that mankind's lives were in danger yet, they're still worried about their riches and privileges.
I wonder where Timothy is now.
"This place is so well maintained that it made me think they've been anticipating attacks from the Scarlet Tundra," Jayson whispered, wary that any people around us might hear him speak about their common enemy.
Our table was in the middle of the hall. I hushed Jayson because it's not a good place to talk about this kind of topic. He just nodded at me and continued eating while Li and Mona looked awkwardly at us, thinking that Jayson might get upset that I silenced him.
"I'm sorry. I'm just scared people here might think differently of us. I have already noticed it when the attendant who came to the infirmary to fetch us knew that we've just recently come from the outside." I said to Jayson apologetically and he seemed understanding enough because he smiled.
I glanced from my back and saw a group of an adult looking in our direction. They quickly averted their eyes when they saw me catch them gawking at us.
"They're already suspecting we're not from here," I added.
"It's ok Harriet. I already noticed since we entered this hall. These people must know each other very well since the world of the wealthy is just small." Jayson explained in a low tone. "Also, before I got checked yesterday, Timothy told me we don't have to worry about anything because we're under his protection here."
Wow. I guess we really saved the right person.
After we ate, an attendant came to us again and asked us to follow her to the suite where all of us were staying. She showed us every amusement and activity area of this level bunker where I saw a gym, a yoga room, a playroom for kids, and art galleries. There were also recreational activity clubs for everyone and a bar and disco room where all the drinks were free for all of us four. We found out that the owner of it was Timothy and he asked for the ambassador to give us everything we want and need. He"s like a king in this place, the richest guy in Zone four who, just a few days ago, was a trembling chicken while we escaped the airport and that tall building.
It's funny how things change.
"Uhm... Excuse me, how can I go to the Admin Sector of this bunker?" I asked the attendant and he looked at me, confused about what I was saying out of surprise. And when he realized it, he smiled at me awkwardly.
"You have to gain permission from the resident representative of this level. What's your intention to go to the Admin anyway?" the attendant asked.
I hesitated to tell him but I guess it's ok to trust since these people respect us for being the savior of the son of the Flitzenberg Corp. "I just need to confirm if two people I know are also here."
The attendant rubbed his chin as if he was thinking deeply. "Yeah, you could confirm that in that Sector since they have all the records of people who come and go in this place."
With newfound hope, I smiled at him and Jayson patted me on the shoulder, happy that I have the chance to see my family again.
When we reached the suit that was assigned to us, the attendant opened the door with the ring in his hand and he took four of them out of his pocket and handled each of them.
"These are the keys to your room. The room attendants have already disinfected your things and they're already inside. I hope you all enjoy your stay here and see you around."
He left us with our mouths opened at the beauty of the place.
The suit was all white just like all the rooms here but the ceiling was high with a glass chandelier in the middle. There were four rooms in total. Two on the second floor and another two below it. I couldn't believe we'd get our own private space here since this area wasn't that big.
In front of the bedrooms were the cozy red couches with fluffy throw pillows on them. Although the room felt dull from the lack of window, a large screen on the wall activated and it showed different kinds of random views of landscapes, seascapes, and an overlooking of sparkling city lights with a background sound on each of them, making it feel as if you're looking at the real thing.
Across the room was a shower area and a comfort room, and a fifty-inch flat-screen TV with surround system, a gaming console, and a few stacks of books. The temperature of the room was the same in any room in this bunker. But you can adjust it with the use of a panel just beside the wall. There was also a corner for making coffees, a small fridge, and a cupboard of snacks.
We all saw our things in the middle of the carpeted floor in front of the couch and Li quickly went to check on it, not minding that he pushed Jayson too roughly on the shoulder. Mona just looked at him apologetically and Jayson just nodded at her with a gentle smile saying it's ok.
"I hope they didn't take any of my things," Li grumbled as he searched for every piece of stuff in his rucksack.
"What's too important that you look too worried and upset?" Jason curiously asked as he hoisted his bag from the floor and watched Li rummaging through his things.
"It's the patent designs of my own robotic inventions. I'm supposed to join a competition at Basil University and I'm scared they will all see it and steal my design."
"Don't be too upset, Li. There's no Basil University you have to worry about anymore. They're all filled with Creepers now." Jason chuckled, trying to joke at Li but the chinky guy seemed more annoyed by Jayson's lack of empathy.
We were all startled when a voice spoke from the speaker somewhere in the room.
"New visitor of Bunker Z4A9 with resident ID Z4A9 F1603, F1555, M1682, and M3247. You are all called for interrogation in the Investigation Sector of this facility. Please wait for an attendant to guide you.
We noticed that a red light flashed on the left side chest of our tracksuit, indicating it was the four of us the speaker was talking to.
"Wow. When we're just about to enjoy this room..." Jayson murmured.
