Chapter 57 Arguments

The storm is almost gone.
Thoroughly clean with a new pair of clothes from the supermarket Li and I got for all of us, the feeling lightened our mood and it"s so good that your skin smells like soap. I am happy with my hair because finally, after weeks of being away from the bunker, I had the chance to clean it and it looks smoother and soft in my hands again as I touch it. Mona and Roanie feel the same and all of us have smiles on our faces as we organize our things back to the car to get ready for the road.
Timothy groaned as he put the induction stove carefully in the car. My brows furrowed as I saw him grimace because it looked like he was in pain and it bothers me.
"Are you alright, Timothy? Is something painful in you?" I ask him as I hold his shoulder and he moves to evade my hand.
There is definitely something wrong with him.
"Timothy?"
"I-I"m fine. It"s just... I think I hurt myself while we were in the car. I bumped my shoulder badly against the door and when I checked on it, it already had this bruise..." he said and he took off his shirt and saw a huge bruise on his shoulder. Mona quickly stood from the chair she was sitting in and examined Timothy"s injury. She poked on it and Timothy yelped.
She made a hand sign and Li translated it for her, "She said she thinks his shoulder is misaligned."
All of us look at Timothy with worry on our faces. I step closer to Mona and ask her, "Do you know how to fix it?"
Mona nodded and she communicated to Li about what to do. Li grimaced, shaking his head at her and I knew she was asking him to do something. I watched how smart and direct Mona looked and I knew someday she would be a good therapist or doctor. I just wish she would be able to speak someday and I can"t wait until we get back to Zone four, in the bunker so I could request for Doctor Peterson to look at Mona"s condition and if there is a possibility for her to speak again using their amazing technology.
"I can"t do that!? What if it gets worse?! I am not sure I could do it right, Mona. Please don"t make me do it!" Li complained to her and Mona suddenly got upset with him. She moved her hands a little heavier and her face showed impatience with Li. It"s the first time I saw her get upset like this and I think she"s pushing Lito to do something that she believes he could do but Li is just too scared for it. Jayson and I watch the two confront each other as they both exchange hand signs which we wish we understand. It"s their secret language though and sometimes, I see them having a private conversation using it like there"s something they don"t want us to know.
"Uhhh.. is something bad happening? I don"t think they are not on the same page at this moment." Raonie whispered to me as we watched Li and Mona still arguing at each other. She looks curious about the hand sign they are doing and I think it"s her first time to see people doing it.
"H-Hey, Mona, Li it"s fine. I think I can hold it until we get into bunker twenty-eight." Timothy pleads with the two to stop them from arguing about his condition. I worry a lot because he really looks like he"s in great pain.
Mona sneered at Li and it surprised us all that she gave an attitude to poor Li. Li looked so devastated when Mona walked away from him and went to the back of the car to get something and when she came back, she already had her medkit tools and some bottle of painkillers for Timothy. She looks scarier than me when she"s mad as we all averted our eyes from her and Li, who is now sitting in a chair and looking upset at Mona.
She put the medkit beside Timothy and she pushed the bottle of painkillers to him and she moved her fingers to tell him he must take two. Timothy"s face looked so scared as he nodded at Mona but she noticed she forgot to get a bottle of water for Timothy to drink with the medicine so she went back to the car again to take one.
Timothy panicked and looked at Li, not knowing what was going on, "Hey, Li! What"s going on?! What will Mona do to me?!" He asked Li while Mona was busy looking for bottled water and we all panicked too, scared for Timothy"s life. Roanie just looks at us in amazement while she smiles. I know we are all looking ridiculous right now but it"s the first time we saw Mona get angry and we all have no idea what is coming.
"Oh my god, good luck, Timothy. I"ll pray for your soul." Jayson smirked at him teasingly. I elbowed him in the ribs and he groaned from the pain. I want to laugh too but I do my hardest to suppress it as I see Timothy"s forehead form bullets of sweat, looking nervous.
When Mona came she immediately handed the bottle to Timothy and he took two tablets from the bottle and threw it in his mouth and then drank water to slide it down his throat. It"s funny because he was looking at Mona at the time he did it.
"What"s next?" Timothy asked like a five-year-old talking to his dentist.
"She needs you to kneel and let her do the rest," Li told Timothy, still looking upset as he props his hand on his chin while looking away at what Mona is doing. Timothy"s face became horrified, scared of trusting Mona with what she"ll do to it but he still kneeled as he saw her serious face.
Oh god, I hope he"ll survive after it.
"She"s not going to kill me, right?" Timothy asks as Mona took his arm and positioned it as if she was going to pull it. I want to avert my eyes from the scene but I get so interested in what she"ll do so I watch even though I feel scared for Timothy. He"s shutting his eyes tight as he pulls his lips, revealing his white teeth.
Mona, with brave determination on her face, slowly moved Timothy"s hand, and then in a second, she pushed it and we all heard a sickening pop on his shoulder as he groaned in pain, the veins on his neck appeared and his face turned red from the pressure he did just to stop himself from screaming loud.
"Oooohhhhh"
"Oh my god, Timothy, are you still alive?!"
"Ugh! That surely hurts!"
We all groaned as we heard the sound and Mona smiled, looking satisfied with what she did. She gently placed Timothy"s arm on his chest and took something from her kit. We all saw scissors. But before we could think of anything else, she pulled a cloth from behind Timothy and cut it in her desired shape to use as a sling for his arm.
She did it all silently as we watched her work on Timothy. I can"t help but smile because we are truly blessed to have our own talent and capabilities to survive this until we all complete our mission.
I check Timothy's expression and he somehow looks relieved and he"s not in pain anymore. I guess the medicine he took is kicking in right now and he"s looking at Mona in amazement as she works on his arm sling.
While Mona is busy tending to Timothy, Li is still sitting on the chair, upset and staring outside. When I look at my watch, it"s already 6 in the morning and we have to move now so we could somehow reach halfway towards the border of Zone twenty-three.
"How is your arm?" Roanie asked Tim as Mona put all her things back on her medkit and put it back in the car. She went straight inside the car and I don"t think either of Li and Mona will apologize to each other. We just shook our heads as we watched the two ignore each other and as we get into the car, Li refused to sit beside Mona.
Jayson looked at me and I just sighed, worried about the two. It"s the very first time they fought with each other and I wonder what made them both so upset with each other like that. All of us have no idea what they had argued because they did it in their own language which is through hand gestures.
"Do you think those two will be alright?" Jayson asked me, the creases on his forehead deepened as he started the engine of the car.
"They will be alright. It might just be a little argument but Li will take care of it, I believe." I answered him back and I looked back at the two who are both on the door side of the car and Timothy and Roanie in their middle.
Jayson just helplessly looked at me and then he started maneuvering the car out the open building where we stayed for two days.
"Guys, pray we could find a gasoline station nearby," Jayson said as he drove towards the long road to our next destination.
