Chapter 27 Surprise Rescue
"Come here and give me some entertainment, Ms. Fontaine."
Cdr. Leo waved his spear again and raised his hand on me, gesturing to me to come to him. Although the pain in my stomach was still unbearable, I moved forward, swinging the spear. Did this man have an intention to kill me or was he just enjoying the sight of me being a coward in front of him? But whose not though? His body was twice as big as mine.
I inhaled deeply and focused myself on the movement of the muscles of his body. My dad once told me, violent people are just like hurt animals. Unpredictable and vicious. I must not let myself be overwhelmed with fear and intimidation towards this man.
I exhaled deeply, suppressing all other thoughts in my head, and glared at Leo, who was smirking evilly in front of me. Should I attack first? It's obvious he"s waiting for me to strike first.
He moved and took a single step forward, his spear pointed towards my shoulder but I quickly read what he was about to do. I evaded his attack smoothly and waved my spear with the force of my body and gave him numerous flogging on his back, the round, rigid stick gave loud thuds as I beat his back with it. I screamed with all my strength as I gave him each of those blows.
Hurrying to get away from him after that advantageous assault, I gripped the spear tightly as my hand was starting to get sweaty. The room was a little hotter in temperature than usual and the air felt so thin in here. I breathed fast as I steadied myself again, my eyes sharp against the monster in his human form. I couldn't believe why this guy led me here just to invite me for a fight. And why me? Did my fight in that storage building with a Creeper trigger something in him? Is he a member of Scarlet Tundra?
He glanced at me from his back as if my attack was just a small thing to him. Another stretch of grin formed on his mouth and he shifted his position, made attempts to pierce me, one move to another.
"If you manage to cut me, maybe I could grant your wish!" He breathed, his sweat was rolling down his face and on his neck, making him look disgusting. His shoulders were moving up and down as he huffed like a wild dog.
Why was he acting so f*ck*ng crazy like this?!
I quickly moved to avoid all his strikes again, thankful that my body was flexible enough to bend my back, swerve my upper body, and plunge on the floor carefully, preventing the sharp tip of his spear from sticking in any part of me. I gritted my teeth in an intense effort to balance myself as we exchanged attacks.
Cdr. Leo took all my attacks without making any sign that he was hurt or got affected by any of the strikes I did to him in every part of his body. As he stepped forward again and was about to impale me on my leg, I gracefully jumped back and sprung myself forward. I raised the wooden stick up my head and hit him hard on his head!
"Argh!"
I exhaled sharply, finally, he now felt something! Yes! Feel that you sc*mb*g!
Rubbing his bleeding head with his huge hand, he groaned and flinched in pain, grimacing as he glared at me.
"I just gave you what you want, old man!" I scowled at him fiercely. I may not be as brawny as he is but I'm way faster and flexible and my eyes are so sharp that I could read all his moves just before he does it. I've been trained to attack moving targets since my hunting lesson and my experience in eliminating Creepers made me more focused and calm during a fight.
But I am fully aware that I am fighting an intelligent person, let alone, a more formidable foe like him who's formally trained and has years of expertise in combat skills. I was even suspicious why he kept on taking all my attacks as if he was enjoying the pain I was inflicting on his body. The thought was starting to scare me and I needed to find a way to get out of here!
I am fast. I know I could leave him behind in his state like this.
Without wasting any second and before he could even recover from that blow, the wooden spear rolled down my hand and it gave a loud clattering sound on the floor. The moment it gave that sound, I hastily turned my body and was ready to sprint towards the door, hoping for a chance that the auto-slide door would open. But to my horror, it didn't! I knew I was expecting that already but the actualization of my bad habit of thinking worse in any situation makes it appear like a taboo.
Before I could even reach the panel to open it manually, Cdr. Leo had already grabbed me by my neck and threw me back in the middle of the room. I was aware of how I'll do this time and like a cat, I balanced myself and landed crouching, both my hands and feet on the floor. I glared at him, my teeth were gnashing against each other. What should I do to get rid of him? He just won't let me go that easy!
"The first time I saw you, I knew you'll entertain me a lot!" he yelled at me with a horrifying grin on his face. "To be honest, I grew tired of playing with other women here. New recruits of the army are no fun! Just before we start, all they do is cry and not fight at all!"
"What are you talking about? Did you do this to every woman joining the army? Is that why I'm here? Because you heard that I'm joining, right?"
"Ha!" Cdr. Leo snapped at me and laughed like a devil. "You're joining the army?! I sent you here because I knew you could fight me well, Ms. Fontaine! When I saw that video of how you faced the Creeper, I knew you'd give me what I want! The entertainment I need!"
"Then why do you look for someone your own size?!" I scowled at him and stood. We made side steps and did circles around the room, making space between us.
I feel so nervous and scared now. I don't understand what's up to him but I could see he"s been doing this to the new women recruits of the army. Is that why her secretary warned me not to go? She knew this would happen and I didn't believe her. Now I am struggling to get out of his hellhole. I wonder if he'll let me get out of here still breathing.
I don't want to be one of the victims of this guy!
We kept doing circles, measuring each other's movement on who will attack first. Should I let him do the first move again or should I spring towards him first and punch his nose flat? No. I can't take the risk of attacking straight, especially since he"s much stronger. I'll let him get to me so I could just deflect his assault and use my speed and pummel him with my fist on his neck and face before he could even react.
Like a crazy rhino, he advanced towards me, his weight making audible thumps on the concrete floor, indicating that if he'd caught me in his hands, he would surely rip apart!
Terrified and shaking, I kept my focus and waited for the right timing. I glared at him and steadied my feet on the floor, ready to jump any moment in any direction that would be safe to go. I inhaled deeply. No. I won't let him have what he wants... he can't let me beg for my life because I'll fight. I went through a lot and his nonsense entertainment is just another waste of my time.
His huge arm almost caught me if only I was a few seconds from dodging it. But before I could even realize it, his legs almost reached my head when he made a sudden kick and then another, which made me lose a little bit of my balance. It's impossible to fight him this close! One kick would surely send me flying against the wall and would definitely break every bone on my back!
"What?! Too scared to take a risk?" he said in an amused tone and after I dodged a punch from him, another lower hook took me by surprise, too impossible for me to evade so I quickly shielded my ribs with my arm, as I hurled across the room when I received the impact.
Wind knocked out of my back again as I rolled on the floor. I felt like my arm was broken because It hurt so bad when I tried to move it. Before I could even scramble and stood away from him, Cdr. Leo had already stepped on my right hand, his heavy combat shoes almost crushed my bones underneath it.
"AAAhhhhhh!!!!!" I screamed as he pulled me by my hair and made me look straight on his face.
"This is how the world works, Harriet. Being weak makes you look delicious prey to anyone who you'll meet in your way. You are way too soft and I'm kind of a little dismayed." He murmured against my face, making him look like a boogeyman. I trembled as I felt the great fear surge in my head, waiting to see how he would finish me.
But we both heard the sound of the door opening and without a warning, someone had hit Cdr. Leo is hard on his head.
He screamed like a wounded bear and I saw a silhouette of someone holding a club. Then I felt a pair of hands helping me get up from the floor...
