"So you're asking me If I can give you assistance to get into Zone twenty-eight Military Bunker?"
No matter how much I hate talking to this scary, grumpy man, I had no choice but to endure standing in front of him and asking for his help. He was wearing his green cloak Military uniform with numerous badges pinned on them. His balding head was covered with a hat.
The Ambassador said Commander Leo was the one who I could talk to about my plan to rescue my family. He"s the current Head of the Military Enforcement of the Zone four bunker and the only person that could give permission for me to use the helicopter and armored vehicles.
I went straight to his office, alone because I don't want any of my friends to get involved in my personal problem with my family. This is my own fight and they already have their own dilemmas that are why I can't tell them any about it.
Even Jayson.
"Yes. I need your assistance, sir. It's what Ambassador Colton said. He recommended me to you for the mission to rescue my family and bring them here with me." I informed him with my eyes looking straight on the wall and not on his face.
Commander Leo stepped closer to me, his weird-smelling perfume almost choking me up. I kept my eyes gaze straight and refused to look at his scarred face as he narrowed his eyes on me, reading my expression.
The girl in his office who kept on glancing at me with an indescribable expression on her face... a warning look? I have no idea. She has dark hair, tanned skin, and freckles on her face. She kept on working on her keyboard, her face was so tense, more like scared over something.
"I see... We can do some arrangement about it though." He agreed and smirked mischievously at me, his hands were crossed on his chest, nodding his head.
His lascivious eyes were obviously enjoying ogling at the curves of my body because my tracksuit was a little fit for me. He was too close. I feel like I want to kick him in his gut. But I can't do it. He"s the only person that could help me save my family and upsetting him like that would do no good to me no matter how much he creeps me out!
"Stop looking at me like you're making me uncomfortable," I complained to him and he suddenly averted his eyes as if embarrassed to what I had said. He quickly stepped away from me and refused to look at me on the face again as if he was some kind of a beast that had just whipped on the face.
"Fine. Follow me." He grumpily commanded me and he went outside the door, his steps were heavy as if my words had really provoked him.
I made a last look at the girls' face and she shook her head, telling me not to go.
She gave me that scared feeling in my chest but whatever it is, the idea of saving my family is more important to me. There was a side of me that was hesitating but I can't let this opportunity slip especially when I don't want to waste any of my time. My dad and Carl are suffering in that place and only I could give them a comfortable life here.
I walked behind him as we both took the path towards the corridors and made so many turns that I lost track of how many left and right that we did. He was taking me to dimmer corridors and it appeared as if not too many people were in this place. I hate the fact that the girl who warned me was right. I can't trust this guy. Oh my heavens! Why am I such an idiot to think that he"s up to anything good?
"Where are you taking me?" I suspiciously asked Commander Leo, his tall frame and broad body were surely intimidating. His hands were clasped both at his back.
"You're scared?" his hoarse voice reverberated to the walls of the corridor, making it sound so grim in my ears. I stopped walking and glanced at my back. There was no one in here but we and it was starting to scare me at the idea that this mammoth guy is leading me somewhere dubious.
"You can't help your Dad and your brother by just standing there kid." He spoke in a voice so ambiguous and it's starting to make me feel wary. My heart was thumping so loud in my ears, a warning that I should not trust him any further.
"I am not here to toy with you, Commander Leo! Where are we heading?!" I demanded to know the answer from him because the adrenaline was starting to rise in my veins again. I was about to turn and walk away when he suddenly grabbed my hand and violently pulled me!
"Do you think you can get away from me now that I finally have a chance?!" he hissed at me, his breath was so revolting I almost retched in front of him.
"What are you doing!!!" I screamed at him as I struggle to get away from his tight grip. I kicked his leg but he quickly evaded it and hurled me forcefully to the wall. I grunted from the searing pain when my back hit the wall and before I could even get away from it, he gave me a kick on the gut that sent me sprawling on the floor.
I was aghast when I found out it wasn't actually a wall, but a hidden door that opened when I went flying through it after that sudden kick from that wretched monster. My vision was almost blackened by the unexpected pain it caused as I landed on the cold, hard floor. The second my back hit the concrete, it felt as if all the air on my lungs had escaped through my mouth. I coughed so hard, the pain in my stomach was so blinding that I couldn't even move a muscle.
As I grimaced in pain, I saw Cdr. Leo walked towards me with a sinister look on his face. His hands were still on his back, his lips were stretched in an evil smile and his scar looked more hideous now that he finally unveiled his true nature.
The room was all white, small but was spacious enough for two people to stay. There were no objects inside, aside from stacks of spears that were aligned neatly. Although the room looks so white from the light of the ceiling, I could see red dots and blemishes on the tiled floor. Was he killing people here?!
I grunted more in pain.
Struggling to get to my feet, I quickly scanned the whole place while I stood, limping away from him. My hands were on my stomach, trying to ease the pain by hunching my back and stepping away from him.
"What do you want?" I angrily hissed at him. My left eye was almost closed from all the injuries received, the pain clawing throughout my stomach up to my chest. I can't properly breathe. It was painful when my belly expanded from breathing.
He clicked something from his hand, a small device that displayed a hologram of a familiar scene; me, fighting the Creeper in the storage house, slicing its head clean with the use of a butcher's knife.
"I can't believe you could pull a stunt such as that, Ms. Fontaine. The day I saw that video, it kept on running over and over in my head that it itches me not to grab you every time you're in front of me and crumple you like a piece of paper in my hand!"
He threw me one of the spears. He skillfully moved with the spear in his hand like it was some kind of a toy to him. I watched him, my eyes shifted in every step his feet did, the way his hand waved the stick, and every twitch of muscles he used. I was not really good at any martial arts but my dad taught me some of it. He kept on reminding me that everything is always about good timing and the right aim.
What's wrong with this guy!
Cdr. Leo's face suddenly looked horrifying to me. I could only see rage and bloodlust as he took off his coat and revealed his muscled body. The stony-looking chunks of muscles on his chest, arms, and neck made him look like a heavy-weight wrestler and there was no way I could ever defeat that kind of strength. He could easily crush me with his hands just like what he said.
I took the spear on the floor and pointed its sharp end at him. He was trying to corner me by intimidating me with his twirling skill but my eyes are too sharp and fast and if only I wasn't kicked badly on the stomach, maybe I could be even faster than him.
"Let's play, Miss Fontaine, shall we?"
