CHAPTER 39
She had never been angry before but all she wanted to do now was just stomp over Ruby and let her feel her wrath.
She still remembers the day her parents suggested that she gets married to Harvey, she was very happy that her dream was finally coming true only to get squashed by Ruby. Helen really liked her and she was going to sort everything out with her once she arrives.
I can tell that I came a bit late,” Helen said as she sat down next to her.
“I just couldn’t help it, I’m so stressed,” she confessed.
“I can see it. So, what exactly happened to you?” she asked her as she called the bartender.
Janet explained exactly what happened to Helen and she saw the disgusted look on her face.
“I always knew those two were up to no good but I never thought that they could do something so ridiculous. I will talk to dad about this, don’t worry. Harvey is yours,” Helen assured her but she knew that Harvey will never become hers.
“You should have seen the look in his eyes when he talked about her. There is no chance for me, I know it. I just wish I never came back here in the first place,” she said while crying now.
“Don’t shed any tears. I will seek justice for you, don’t worry. After sending you off home, I will visit my baby sister and let her hear it from me tonight,” Helen said and she felt a bit better.
“You can just go. I have someone else I need to meet and I wouldn’t want to waste your time,” she lied to her.
“If you say so then I will take my leave. Take care of yourself and don’t get too drunk,” she said and Janet nodded.
Helen left the club and she ordered another glass again.
Janet might have been young but she clearly remembered Ruby’s anger issues. She became the scariest person ever, she often engaged herself into fights and most of them were to protect Harvey.
It seems like she lost the battle at a very young age and now she was just crying over spilt milk. Her reputation really precedes her. How was she going to go against Ruby even if Helen said she will help her out?
She was going to drink until she forgets about everything and get over her first love.
Helen had never really liked Ruby from the second she met her. Her father remarried early and she hated the woman he brought to take over her deceased mother place. Ruby became close to Harvey and she became that perfect sister she never got the chance to be. Ruby had so many flaws and she envied her.
Her father wanted total perfection from her and yet he spoiled Ruby and Harvey a lot. No one in her family caused so much trouble than Ruby and yet she was let go each and every time.
Unlike her, Ruby was a free spirit and she does whatever she wanted. She wanted to have at least a fraction of that but that was impossible. Seeing her hurt was her only joy and yet Ruby keeps on getting friendly with her. That innocent approach as if she didn’t know exactly what was on her mind, really bothered her.
Harvey spent a lot of time with Ruby that they shared one bedroom when they grew up; a habit that didn’t change even when they became adults. She was always afraid that something like this will happen and now the two kids were dating each other. She wondered how crazy dad will be if he hears about it.
She drove into the gate and parked her car. When she got out she was welcomed by the butler.
“It’s nice to see you again, Ms. Moon,” he said with a smile.
“It’s nice seeing you too Luke. Is my dad around?”
“No, he went out with young madam earlier,” he replied her.
“So, who is home now?” she asked.
“Ms. Ruby is in her room studying,” he said.
“What about Harvey?”
“He left in the morning.”
“Okay, thanks. I guess I will just see Ruby then before I leave.”
“Should I have the chef make something for you?”
“No, I won’t be staying for long,” she said and went inside.
She took the stairs and stooped right in front of Ruby’s room. How could she read when she was causing a lot of commotion like that?
She knocked slightly at the door and let herself in. She found Ruby buried in textbooks and her laptop right in front of her. She wasn’t playing at all. Ruby turned to her and she smiled at her like she always does.
“I didn’t know you were coming, please take a seat,” she said directing her to the couch that was in her room.
“I won’t be staying for long. I just need to talk to you,” she told her directly and Ruby looked at her with concern.
“Is everything okay?” Ruby asked her.
“I wish it was. So I will just get straight to the point. I want you to stop seeing Harvey. The second your mother marred into this family, you two became siblings. Your relationship is a disgrace to this family. So, I came to give you a warning to leave him alone,” she told her and watched Ruby’s face going pale for a moment.
She had really hit the nail straight on the head.
