CHAPTER 49
She always thought that one day she will end up with Harvey but he wasn’t hers anymore. He had found love and solace in Ruby and that was something she was never going to give him. She had lost and it hurts.
“You seem to be troubled. What is going on?”
“I didn’t know that you are capable of worrying about me Taylor,” she said as she looked up at her senior.
“I may not look like it but I worry a lot,” he said and she could see that he does in his eyes.
“I’m glad to hear that,” she said and took another sip of her wine.
“You shouldn’t drink a lot. You can talk it out that way you won’t have to bottle it up and let it eat you up,” he suggested and she thought about it for a while and noticed that it made sense.
“Are you sure you want to listen to a junior mumbling about her life?”
“I am but mostly because it is you. So, who dumped you?” Taylor asked.
“Fine, I will tell you,” she said and got ready to narrate her story.
Janet began to tell Taylor in detail how it all started and how it ended. When she finished, Taylor was laughing and she was so angry at him.
“What’s so funny?” she asked angrily.
“You are a fool; I am sorry to say this. But I have to say it even though you might get mad over it. From the way you told me, I don’t think you ever loved him; what you felt for him was pity and you mistook it for love. He on the other hand found not pity but love and protection from his sister that the only person he looked for was her.
To others, it might look like admiration or even obsession but since the two are together despite what happened in the past then those two are really in love with each other and there is nothing you can do about it,” Taylor told her but she wasn’t satisfied.
“But how could he? I am younger and beautiful than her and definitely not related.”
“I know but she is way better than you. I know this Ruby and she is one person you wouldn’t want to mess with. A lot of guys admire her.”
“Is she that great?”
“She is. What makes you think made her be the student council president for two consecutive years?”
“I guess, I just saw what I wanted to see.”
“Since you have already lost this battle, why don’t you stop messing yourself up and stand up? You are still young and I believe that you will find someone who just loves you for who you are. It’s pointless pinning over someone who doesn’t care for you,” Taylor advised her and she felt this ping in her heart as he told her all that.
Taylor was her senior at her university, he wasn’t that popular but he was a talented young man and came from a good and wealthy family like hers. He was a playboy mostly and she had always hated that kind. So hearing him encouraging her and making her to wake up was something that really touched her.
In her life it was difficult to find someone who was just so honest to tell her things like what Taylor had just done. She felt admiration for him and just like that her attention was now focused on him.
She was going to get her act back and pursue her new target. Just like what he told her, she was going to stop whining for someone who was busy enjoying with his sister and focus on the one person that was right in front of her now.
“I can tell that you look much better”’ he said and gave her a killer smile.
She didn’t know that a smile could have so many effects on a person, she found herself melting and she knew instantly that she was in trouble. Whatever this feeling was, she was going to see it till the end.
“Because you are here,” she said with a smile.
“I am glad that I was of great help but what I need you to do right now is for you to leave this club and go back home. You have drunk enough and you should go and rest, that way you will have strength and energy to move on. Can you do that for me?”
“I can. Can I have your number? I would like to talk more with you,” she asked.
“I will answer you if you call,” he said and reached out his hand.
She gave him her cell and she watched as he put his contact in her cell. She smiled inwardly and she knew that the first step was done. She was going to call when she was sober but right now she was going to return home and sleep it off.
“Thanks, I will call you when I am sober,” she said as she stood up.
“I will send you out and make sure you leave safely. Let me call you a designated driver,” he said and she smiled at him.
He was a very thoughtful person indeed. By the time she was outside, Taylor had already called the driver and she was waiting for the driver to arrive.
“Thank you for tonight,” she said as she looked at him.
“It was nothing, just don’t drink a lot by yourself net time. It is dangerous out here,” he warned her.
“I will keep that in mind.”
A few minutes later, the driver arrived and she bided farewell to Taylor and she got into her car. She gave the address to the driver and the man drove her back home. She gave him his payment for his services before she went inside the house. When she arrived, her mother was waiting for her.
“I didn’t think you will return early after what happened,” she sounded worried and she felt bad for making her mother worry like that.
