CHAPTER 44
“I will never allow any harm to fall on her, don’t worry.”
“I’m glad to hear that and another thing, she likes rubies a lot and as someone who had a tough life when she was a kid even though she doesn’t talk about it, she wants something stable. So if you are really serious about her, don’t just talk words. Show her some actions and let her know that you love her and want to be with her. I hope you understand what I am trying to say here,” Grace said.
“I think I do. I will not disappoint you.”
“That’s good. While you are gone, your father and I will smooth over things with the Wilsons and see where it will go.”
“I appreciate your efforts.”
“This is what we should do as your parents. Shield you from any harm and do whatever it talks to make sure that you are happy. I will see you downstairs,” she said and smiled at him once more.
He returned the favor and smiled back at her.
“Thank you very much Grace for trusting me with Ruby,” he said those words and he meant every word.
“Same here, Harvey,” she said and left his room.
He double-checked to see whether he had forgotten anything but he was cool. He left his own room and went to Ruby’s; he found her seated checking herself in the mirror.
“What is my big sister doing instead of going downstairs?” he asked as he stood behind her.
“I am applying makeup on my face. I wouldn’t want to look very haggard especially when I am about to board a plane,” she replied.
“But I love you without your make up on,” he confessed.
“I know but I have a reputation to uphold,” she said as she closed her makeup box.
“If you say so then I won’t argue with you.”
“I’m done by the way. Help me with my suitcase,” she said as she stood up.
“Whatever you say, boss,” he said and pulled the suitcase out of her room.
Luckily for him he met the butler who took both his suitcase and Ruby’s to the car that was waiting for them outside. He opened the door for Ruby who politely smiled at him before turning back to look at her mother.
“I will call you as soon as I arrive. I love you,” she said to her mother.
“I love you too baby. Go and have some fun,” Grace said back.
“I will,” Ruby said and she got into the car.
Harvey saluted Grace and joined Ruby into the car too. The driver started the car and drove off from the house for the airport.
“This is going to be fun,” Harvey said and Ruby looked at him.
“It will be.”
The journey to the airport wasn’t long; soon they were pulling their bags inside. When they arrived the whole gang had already arrived. Ruby rushed to her friends where they hugged and he went to his friends too.
“You were almost late,” Owen said.
“Forgive me, sir,” Harvey said and they all laughed.
He looked at his friends and then at Lisa, Owen’s girlfriend. The two had been dating for a while now and Owen was serious about her. He wanted him to be happy and he just hoped that they will never break up in the future especially after everything they went through to be where they are at the moment.
After a few minutes they all went to check in their bags and visited a café inside the airport for some coffee before boarding the plane. The eight of them were all in the first-class section; he never sat in the economy section before.
His father never allowed it, if he wasn’t travelling by a public plane like this then he would be travelling by a private jet. He just couldn’t ask his father for his jet, he wanted to travel like everyone else and spend some of the parents’ money. He sat next to Ruby of cause, who was busy flipping through the magazine as the plane was now in the air.
“What are you reading?” he asked her.
“Just some news on celebrities, it must be hard having your life being printed in magazines like this for the rest of the world to read,” she sounded concerned.
“It is, you never know one day it will be us in there,” he said and she looked at him.
“I hope not,” she said and looked back at her magazine.
The flight was for eight hours and during it they had some food which was properly cooked. Ruby must have been tired because she slept for the rest of the flight after eating.
He had to read the magazines, go through his tablet pc to entertain himself. At some point he looked back to check up on his friends and he couldn’t help but smile when he noticed the tension between Brian and Jack. What did he do this time to make Jack look like that again?
There was going to be plenty of time for the two of them to make up. Brian had loved Jack for a very long time and it was time for him to be happy.
Finally, the plane descended at the Havilland airport. It was a small nation but filled with so many tourist attraction sites. He had never been there before but he knew that he was going to enjoy every second of it. The resort transport was waiting for them, thanks to Nancy’s boyfriend who had everything prepared.
They went to the resort in two cars and it took about two hours for them to reach the secluded resort. The place was just amazing and beautiful. He had never seen such art before. It was a good thing that they all decided to come to this place. He would learn a thing or two by just being at a place like this.
