CHAPTER 50
She walked up to her and held her hands.
“I am very sorry mom, for worrying you. I promise you that I will not do it again,” she said and saw the look of relief on her mom’s face.
“You look much better than when you left. Did something happen?”
“You can say something like that. I have decided to stop crying over Harvey and move on. It was just my wishful thinking. Now I will concentrate on my studies and be a good daughter to you,” Janet said and hugged her mother.
Her mother hugged her back and she felt happy for the first time ever since her arrangement with Harvey was announced. She realized that just like Taylor had said earlier, this wasn’t love and if she had succeeded then she was going to be miserable for the rest of her life.
Although it came to her a blow, she was now glad that Harvey was honest with her. If it was some other guy, he would have toyed with her; Harvey despite his relationship choice he was a decent guy and she was glad she got to know him.
“I am glad to hear that. You should go to bed and sleep now. I will make you a hangover soup in the morning,” her mother said.
“Okay, mother. Goodnight and love you,” she said as she broke away from the hug.
“I love you too dear.”
With that, she left her mother for her bedroom where she put her bag in her closet. She undressed herself and went to take a shower before going to bed. She has another battle right in front of her and she was going to make Taylor hers using proper methods. She smiled at that thought and closed her eyes.
When she woke up the next morning she felt so light and happy. She could feel it that the burden was finally off her and it felt so great. She took a shower, changed her clothes and went down to the kitchen for breakfast.
When she arrived, her parents were seated at the table. Last night she left abruptly and was mad at her father for agreeing to stop her marriage arrangement with Harvey but now she was glad that he did.
“Good morning mom and dad,” she said as she sat down and her dad looked at her mysteriously.
“Morning baby,” her mom replied.
“Dad, I’m sorry for the way I acted,” she apologized and he smiled at her.
“I forgive you. I am glad that my child is back and since I am in a happy mood, do you want to go shopping?” he asked her.
“I would love to dad,” she agreed immediately.
“Okay, I will transfer some money to you. Make sure you spoil yourself and forget everything.”
“I will.”
She was given her hangover soup which she drank and had her breakfast with her parents. Just like how her dad promised her, he gave her shopping money.
It was a brand new day and there was nothing much better than to start it with one luxurious shopping spree. She was going to suit herself for her coming battle and she just hoped that she was going to win.
****
When Janet woke up the next morning she felt as light as a feather, she had forgotten what it felt like to have less worries on her mind. It was as if knowing Harvey and falling for him was just like a curse and now she had finally got rid of the curse.
From that morning moving onwards, she made a vow to herself that she was going to live her life with no regrets, love whoever she waned in the proper manner and be happy.
Whatever makes her sad, she will make sure to rectify the situation; that way she won’t have to suffer like the way she did with Harvey. She was going to be with someone who cares for her and loves her.
Even though knowing Harvey was like a curse to her, it was also a blessing in disguise. With Harvey and Ruby she learnt that love has no boundaries, if you really love someone you will go to any length to be with that person, protect and love the person and make sure that he or she is happy.
Harvey and Ruby were happy and she hoped that one day she can also freely be like that too. Not being afraid of flaunting her love to the world, having at least a group of people cheering for her love was what she was wishing for.
She was going to be like that but first she was going to stop being clingy and rash. She was going to take her time and get to know the person she was sure that she was falling for. It was only a matter of time before she gets Taylor in her hands.
With that thought in her head, she left her bedroom for the dining where her mother was already seated and having her breakfast. She smiled at her mother and she smiled back at her. She knew that this was just another beginning of a fresh start for her and she was going to make every second count.
A FEW MONTHS LATER
She couldn’t be any happier, after being at the university for four years she was finally done with school. As this being her last day, she was busy preparing files that were to be given to the next student council president.
This huge burden and responsibility of the students was no longer hers after all. For two years she had been carrying the weight of every student but now she was putting herself first.
Her head began to be dizzy again, so she sat back in her chair and opened the bottle of juice that was on the table. She took a sip before placing it back on the table. She had packed all her boxes and the only thing left was for her to take them out.
She was going to miss school life though but she was now an adult and work life was waiting for her. Her parents weren’t giving her chance to rest at all. She was going to rest for a week before going back to work. It wasn’t that hard for her since she had been interning ever since she was a freshman.
There was a sudden knock on the door and she looked up before she answered to let the person in.
