A Barn

She could have sworn she had just closed her eyes in the bathtub for a short nap in the cool water so why the hell did it seem like she had teleported..
"It's a dream" A familiar voice drew her out of her panic.
"But if we do not get this over with you might be stuck in this dream forever" Defitri sounded almost reassuring.
"Are you being true?" Diane looked scared but before Defitri could respond "Cause i wouldn't mind being stuck here forever" she added her eyes focused on no particular thing, she had spaced out even in a situation like this.
"Of course I'm joking" Defitri's word was like a light spank to her head dragging her back to her senses.

She wasn't joking but a suicidal Diane didn't need to know that.
"What is this place?" Diane asked looking around.
"A barn" Defitri quipped.
Of course she knew what a barn was, she had seen it in her books as a child, she knew it was exactly where they were..
Her thinking process trailed of from the sweet sound of laughter coming from Defitri.
"Does this place not bring any memory to you?" Defitri queried but was met with Diane's head shaking vehemently.
"You seem to have forgotten the spot you first set eyes on him, i believe it was on that tree" she pointed towards a huge tree.
Flashes of that cold night filled Diane's head as her plea for him not to kill her echoed throughout, the flames in his mist green eyes that night was not spared from her memories either, why was she back at this damn place again.
"Why are we here? Am i here to relive my memories?" She asked.
"This isn't about you this time"
'Isn't about me?' Diane wondered as she took notice of the features of the place, even though she had only been there at nights a barn had never been a part of her memories, it was a forest that lied in between the evergreen and red moon pack, she looked towards the red moon pack direction, the beautiful garden that had been her usual stop in the past was not their either.
"This isn't recent is it?"
"Welcome to the forteen hundreds Diane" Defitri ushered. "Welcome to my story"
"I believe i know that already, I've read books, I've seen scrolls, i know the legends" Diane said not ceasing to catch her breath.
"Better than hearing it is witnessing it firsthand, living through it and learning from it" Defitri smiled, just then a wereman with sharp claws ran through then attacking another, striking him down after pulling out an organ, then he looked towards Diane's direction running towards her, she scream as she crouched down her hands over her ears as she shut her eyes tightly waiting to be torn apart but it never happened instead Defitri mocking laughter echoed in her ears. "For someone who wishes to die do much you do fear a lot" She laughed harder.
"What just happened?"
"Look" she pointed behind Diane and Diane soaked in the courage needed to turn, to her shock the wereman was hanging on a dagger a little boy had laid out.
"They cannot see or hear us, we do not exist here, we are just like ghost, we can be passed through" Defitri said as she stared at the young boy with a dagger in his hands, her eyes held anguish as she stared at him.
"And that's one of the reason you wouldn't want to be stuck here forever, reliving a gone past over and over again, never catching up with the future" she gave the ghost of a smile.
"And you?"
"Where are you?" She asked.
"I should be coming out if the womb in three.." She grabbed Diane hands
"Two.."
"One" They had changed their location.
Inside a store room laid the most shocking thing Diane had ever seen.
"push" A midwife urged as she held the pregnant woman lying on the table.
"Do it for the little king you are carrying"
"It's a girl" Damini coaxed through the strain.
"You really shouldn't be wishing for that, this is your first childbirth Damini, you have been married for five years, your husband will only wish for a son" Mari her younger sister said.
"I saw the Moon goddess in my dreams she said it is a girl" Damini said her loud scream following suit.
"You can do it Damini don't give up" a midwife held Damini's hands rubbing it to restore calm to the hypertensive woman on the bed.
"Shouldn't we go in?" Diane asked tired of listening in on the conversation going on inside the little farmstead they had found themselves in.
"Are you so curious to see?" She asked as Diane nodded.
Entering into the farm stead Diane was met with the greatest shock she had ever received.
The woman on the bed, recorded as the most reverend worshipper of the moon goddess in history, who was blessed with the divine child whose image was that of the moon goddess was none other than a printout of herself.
"My child" Damini said looking up toward Defitri's direction like she could see her.
"Come near" Damini urged but she didn't comply, her mother could never had seen her, it was not a possibility.
"Oh no, they say you start to see ghosts when you are closer to death" The midwives complained as they shook Damini whose eyes had begin to close up.
The pressure on Damini to keep awake had begun to mount up but she was repulsive to it.
"Mariam?" She called out to her younger sister who had been weeping like a child.
"My child will survive, and then she shall be yours"
"You need to live in order to give birth" Mariam voice was shaking.
"In my dreams, the moon goddess gave me the choice, a life for a life, I've seen my child, I'm staring at her right now, i am OK"
"But i am not and i make no sense of what you are saying" she cried out.
"You have to promise me mar"
"You have to promise that you'll protect my child" Damini grabbed her hands tugging at it weakly.
"This child is claiming you, this child is cursed.."
"Hush" Damini shunned, "i love this child with everything in me, and if today i draw my last breath I'll do so happily knowing that when mine stops hers shall go in my place, so swear it to me in the name of the moon Goddess that you'll protect her" she pleaded.
"I swear" Mariam tongue tied in her mouth as she promised.
"Call her Defitri" Damini smiled contentedly at her younger sister as her eyes shut and she drew her last.
A few seconds later and a loud cry was heard in the room but it wasn't just that of the baby.
