Chapter 14
Ashley waited impatiently for the man who she gave her heart, to get back home. Almost everyone could notice she had something important to do as she kept on peeping at the golden wristwatch that was bought for her as a birthday present, it was so dear to her because that was her first ever birthday gift by a lover.
"What is up with you and the time today?" Jessica asked, eager to hear from her friend.
Ashley turned her chair towards the amazing skyline view that stood behind her trying hard to avoid eye contact with her nosy friend that would find out why she was eager for the time to fly.
Jessica walked around the table towards her best friend turned the chair in her direction, moved closer to Ashley and looked her in the eyes, and asked "You are waiting for someone?"
"I am going on a date with Logan, are you happy now?" Ashley rolled her eyes.
"Why do you look pissed?" Jessica furrowed her eyebrows.
"Because I did not want to jinx it," Ashley replied.
"Babes, chill. Logan is here to stay and you know he is. So, stop worrying about the big stuff, the little ones also matter. If he doesn't show up, you should know something came up."
"That is why I don't want to jinx it."
"The universe knows you are best friend, so chill for I didn't jinx anything" Jessica smiled.
"Thanks for the advice, baby," Ashley admitted. She was about to say something before a knock on her door interrupted her.
"I can come in and make it a fascinating threesome," Dave mentioned as he entered the office.
"Even if you were the last man on earth, I rather die with a dildo," Ashley answered.
"Whoa, up to the top, baby girl!" Jessica high-fived Ashley.
"I might not be available when you finally want me," he warned. Ashley smiled.
"Worry not, that day will never come," she said. "At least, you can send the reports through my email now."
"I will consider it," he handed her the black flash drive.
"Thanks." Ashley's phone chimed and she looked at it.
It was a message from Logan that says, "take your time, I am waiting for you at our favorite spot, worry not for you are a queen and I deserve to wait for you as long as you wish." She smiled and showed Jessica.
Ashley smiled as she saw Logan waiting at the parking lot, a particular spot that they had made their own, it was where he parked the first day he came to her office to tell her about his feelings for her, where they were three years later and she had loved him even deeper than she could ever imagine.
"Sorry I am late, I had a lot I nee..."
"Shhh..." he placed his forefinger on her lips and kissed her. "Let's keep work and everything aside," he walked around and opened the passenger's door for her.
"Thank you," as she settled into the front seat. Logan went to his driver's seat and settles in as he zooms off.
It was a beautiful restaurant that was situated close to a water body, the lights, the atmosphere, and Logan beside her just sounded right. She looked up at the tall chocolate-skinned fellow that walked beside her.
"You have this figured out," she smiled.
"I told you I will always make you smile," he bent a little to kiss her on her cheeks. "This way, sir." A man in uniform pointed towards a reserved table.
"How was the meeting?" She queried, glancing up at him.
"It was hectic, a lot of controversies," he said with a deep sigh.
"Tell me about it," she said as she held onto his hands.
"I will, but that will not be now we start our date,"
"I love you too," she smirked.
"I did not say I love you."
"So you don't love me?" she pouched out her lips.
"I do..."

Meanwhile, there was a face that couldn't focus on what he was doing since Logan stepped into the restaurant. In all his amazing years of being an undefeated hybrid, he never knew he would lose his winning streak over a woman that he just wanted to have fun with for the night and that proved stubborn.
He was able to find out later that the man who defeated him was the owner of the club. His name was Logan, but apart from his club, every other thing about him had been private to stage no one truly knew he was a vampire. Eric felt he was able to know Logan's true form after they had fought in the backyard of his club. Eric was positive that Logan must pay for what he had caused. He had paid an informer to follow Logan and find out more about him so he could know where to hit him and where he will truly feel the pain. Eric had made a vow that just as his arm is broken; he will make sure Logan's life becomes that miserable. He was impressed with the pieces of information that had been gathered from the parking lot where he had kissed the famous Ashley Biggs down to this restaurant where they look at each other intimately, even a blind man will know they are in love. Eric was no blind man he was impressed that Logan had no idea what was coming for him.
"Wow, are they questioning you as a leader?" Ashley asked.
"I doubt not. Maybe they just question my methods."
"I understand, I hope you made peace," she asked with a keen look at Logan.
"Of course, I did," he lied.
"Don't lie to me, babe," Ashley commanded as she could see through his lies.
"I made them understand the reason why I did what I did but every one ended the meeting with smiles and handshakes," he said.
"Be on people's good side, please my love?" she pleaded.
"Nobody cares about mine."
"I do, and you know it is you and I against the world."
" We are enough for each other."
The conversation between the two lovers continued for a while until Ashley remembered that she had a busy schedule the next day, which brought an end to a night they will never forget. They walked out of the restaurant holding each other's arms, feeling the warmth both hybrid and human had to offer. While Eric took over in keeping taps on them, this time his focus was no longer Logan but Ashley, the famous journalist.
