Chapter 22

Dawn was here. Jessica hoped everything that had happened yesterday was a nightmare. She picked up her phone and dialed Ashley. It went straight to voicemail.

"Hello, Ashley. I just had the weirdest dream of you being kidnapped. Call me let's joke about it." she chuckled and dropped the phone. Jessica tried to keep everything negative out of her mind 'if you do not think about it, it won't happen but as usual, reality always found its way into her happy thoughts.

"Ashley!" She kept on screaming at the top of her voice with the hope that Ashley could hear her. When she ran out of breath, she smiled at her foolishness knowing fully well Ashley could not hear her. She dialed Tyler's phone.

"Where are you?" She asked as soon as he picked.

"At Logan's."

"How is he feeling?"

"He is anxious, waiting for Eric's call."

"Okay. I am on my way," Jessica said.

"Alright" She dropped the call and went straight to her closet, putting on black joggers alongside a white and black hoody. Jessica went to the bathroom, brushed, and washed her face. Soon she was driving heading toward Logan's house.

"I think I will just let the hybrids know about the current situation," Logan said as he lay restless on the sofa.

"Will they automatically sniff Eric out of hiding?" Tyler asked.

"No," Logan hesitated before answering.

"Then there is no point telling them," Tyler said as he continued to pace all over the sitting room.

"We need to get it right this time," Logan sat down.

"We will, Logan." Tyler reaffirmed.

The elevator entrance into the penthouse soon opened with Jessica appeared. She walked in holding a copy of The Johnson's daily newspaper having Ashley's face on the cover page with MISSING written in bold.

"Now the whole city knows my best friend is missing," she tossed Logan the paper as she sat on one of the chairs. Logan saw the face of his lover once again, he recalled that a day ago they had argued about her moving into his house. He wished he could see her and tell her if she cares to live on the moon, he wouldn't mind so far as he could see her whenever he wanted.

His phone began to chime. "It is probably that bastard," Logan cursed as he picked up the phone. "Hello," Logan said as his heartbeat increased.

"I would have asked how was your night. But I am sure you did not sleep," Logan could hear Eric's loud laughter over the phone. "If it gives you any cancellation, Ashley slept well."

"That's good to hear," Logan said sarcastically.

"Your task for today," Eric laughed "I am not sure if you have any interest in sport, but today there is a game at the central stadium. I want you to take another ten million dollars there," Eric laughed hysterically before ending the call.

Logan wanted to fling his phone but was soon reminded by his instincts that this was the only medium that could be used to communicate with Ashley's abductor. Logan went towards his safe, brought out the money that was asked for, and came back to the sitting room

"We are going to the central stadium."

____

Drums, trumpets, fans, spectators and so many more. The central stadium was filled up to the brim with people cheering. It was the final match of the season, almost every citizen was present to watch the greatest rivalry that had been going down for centuries. Each match was better than the last, therefore everyone presents here, expecting nothing but another lifetime experience of a quality game. The whistle was blown at the beginning of the match. Everyone cheered except Logan, He stood at the gate waiting for directives from Eric. He was doing as he had been told. He held his phone and looked at the private number calling.

"Hello," he said.

"Logan, I love the clothe you are wearing," Eric chuckled. Logan saw nothing special about the blue jean and grey shirt that he had on but he smiled either way and replied with a thank you to him.

"I am beginning to like you, Logan," Eric said. "Now drop the bag in the bin at your front. Then walk away from the place, do not look back, just walk away." Eric cut the call. Logan walked towards the large green bin that stood in his front. As he opened it, he realizes that a narrow hole had been built under the bin. Logan threw the bag into the bin, closed it, and did as he was told.

Logan walked to his car.

"I believe, Eric is here," he said to the little earpiece that he had on.

"No, he is not. The tracker will lead us to him," Tyler said confidently over the phone.

"I hope so."

"Logan! They are already on the move."

"I believe they are watching me. Follow them."

"Be careful?" Jessica said from the other end of the phone.

Tyler followed the GPS on his computer screen. He drove fast because he was certain they will remove the money from the bag and toss the bag away. The first time, Logan told him they searched the bag before throwing it away, to know if they should change their hiding spot. Tyler raced after the GPS, taking alternating routes. Getting information from the werewolves that had been situated everywhere in the town. Ideally, all they needed was to know the car in which they entered. Tyler had found the black SUV vehicle that had black tints on it. Though Eric's men switched their cars numerous times. Tyler got the information about all their new vehicles until they headed out of the city.

Eric called all his boys together.

"I am proud of the way you have handled this situation. I had my doubts that this was going to be bigger because of the number of people that will be in the stadium. As you always deliver; you proved me right once again so, cheers!" He raised a cup of blood. His men cheered as they all had a toss. Eric gave the guard that was assigned to Ashley a hamburger.

"Give the prisoner, let her celebrate our victory."
