Chapter 38

"So Ashley, you see although my father didn't live long as expected and his drunken behavior found a way to lead him to an early grave, I inherited something from him which gave me the advantage over almost all the werewolves in that competition and that was my height and strength. For that reason, I had confidently lied about my age when getting in and the world believed me. I was certain that I took all the werewolves by surprise because this underdog was heading towards winning the competition and nobody could stop me. The gold was right in front of me, I could see it besides I had only had two opponents left to beat before making it to the final, and I had the confidence that could move mountains but just like every flower that blossoms, there is always someone angry with the way it glows and in Logan's case it was a werewolf that goes by the name Alex.

I had made it to the final, as I prepared for my final fight.

"Congratulations, youngblood," this strange man had said to me.

"Thank you!" I answered without looking at his face as I continued to prepare for the fight.

"My name is, Alex," that was when I raised my head and looked at him, and I believed that was the first time I crossed paths with him, he had an eye patch and a brown stick made from the finest of mahogany that assisted him in walking.

"I am Logan..."

"Reaves," he had completed my statement for me. "Of course, I know who you are. Hell! every werewolf in central city knows your name now."

"But I am guessing you know me before here."

"Smart, boy," The man answered as he leaned on his support.

"What do you want?" Logan asked.

"Come work for me," Alex answered.

"Are you for real at this moment?"

Logan asked.

"Don't I look serious?" Alex queried.

"You wouldn't if you were in your right senses."

"Why? Do you think I can't afford you? Let me tell you the benefits of working for me," Alex moved closer to me.

"Better than being the leader of the werewolves?"

"If it wasn't better, why will I offer you the job?"

"I believe you are high. Talk to me when you are sober."

"Logan, I know you are the people's favorite, the underdog that came from nowhere to win a werewolf brawl. But we both know that you are not an underdog, you have a father who is a drunkard and has given up on life and a mother who is the only glue holding the family together. A sister who doesn't love you and many more. But right now, I am the only person in the way that is stopping you from making your mother proud and giving your father hope."

"What do you mean?"

"If you choose to work for me, you will win this competition and if you choose not to..." Alex paused. "You won't be present for your next fight," my eyes widen.

"Is that a threat?"

"I don't give empty threats," Alex was about to walk away from me when I called him out.

"Alex, is the name right?"

"Yes," he turned back.

"Listen to me," I needed to take control and be calm in that situation because I was already nervous about my next fight. I might tell you about that story someday Ashley."

Ashley smiled a little as she lay on Logan's shoulders. "Either way back to the Alex ordeal. I told Alex, "I really will give you the accolades of coming from nowhere and threatening me. Just like I do not know what you are capable of is the same way you don't know what I am capable of, I will let you go because of your leg and you look like a weak and unworthy opponent, so the next time you want to threaten someone, you should think thoroughly of the rubbish you want to spew because you might not be lucky like this time around," Alex smiled and looked me in my eyes and said.

"I am impressed, very impressed, I never looked at you as someone who had the nerves to speak the way you did. But even after that, I am Alex and no one speaks to me like this, and I will assure you that you will pay seriously for everything that you had said. After all, I am going to take it as a no that you are not going to work for me."

"Hell! it's a no! I won't work for you"

"Okay then I am guessing we will have to do it the hard way then," I scoffed and laughed hysterically, and then I decided to ask him.

"So there was a hard way? You must be kidding me." I was so confident in myself and as you know, as they say, pride comes before a fall.

Either way, Alex walked away from me as he stood beside the door and made a sound, and waited. It was so disgusting I had no idea what he was up to, and I assumed that he was confident because nobody comes in and threaten someone who has won numerous fights in the presence of the world without having something up their sleeves. Either way, I scoffed and as this Alex of a man walked out of the room, I was about to walk out for my next fight, when two huge men walked into the room where I was, the smallest of these hefty men was about my height, I recalled quite vividly that he was the one that looked the door and pocketed the key. The hugest of all was there cracking his knuckles, ready to feast on me. It was a hectic and terrible fight between the two of us.

Even though I was exhausted and I felt my legs failing me, I thought I was victorious because the two men were laying on the floor, I had forgotten the fourth man in the room. With an incredible speed, towards me, all I could recall was a cold needle piercing through my skin and me waking up in a place I have never been before."
