Chapter 34
Ashley and Logan had been going to therapy for a while now and Dr. Smith affirmed to them in their last meeting that they were making incredible progress. Deep down they both were progressing emotionally as Ashley had been getting less of the trauma attack. Ashley had even resumed work as Mr. Johnson and the whole crew was super excited to see her. Ashley made progress in every aspect of her life except her relationship with Logan. That was the only person she had a problem forgiving. He had tried to strike up a conversation or two around the house but they always found themselves drifting apart as usual.
"That will be the end of today's session," Dr. Smith closed his notepad as Ashley and Logan stood up and headed for the door.
"Mr. Reaves," the therapist called out
"You are making progress in every aspect of this therapy but one. I want you to search your conscience and figure out where the problem is." Logan nodded and followed Ashley who had stepped out already. Unlike the therapist, Logan knew where his problem was and what he needed to fix. He did not have to search his conscience to find out where his problems were. This was the one place that mattered to him the most, the most relevant place that he wanted to and believed he needed to heal and that was his lover Ashley. Luckily for Logan, the car Ashley had brought to the therapy session had refused to start, she had tried endlessly and it had refused to come to life. Ashley had given up and was heading toward the bus station when Logan parked in front of her.
"Please let me drop you home," he had a sorrowful face that made Ashley give in to his request. Logan decided to break the silence "Dr. Smith said something is hindering my growth from the trauma, he advised that I searched my conscience and find what is wrong with me" he looked at Ashley who seemed uninterested in the conversation. With his eyes set on the road and his hands plunged unto the steering, Logan decided to keep quiet and drive home.
"What do you think it might be?" Ashley's question left Logan spellbound. After his shock, Logan tried hard to keep the conversation.
"I don't know, what do you think might be the problem?" Logan asked
"I have no idea. But I hope you get over it."
"Hopefully."
"Will you help me heal?" Logan took a long shot.
"What about my healing?"
"We could work on it together," Logan smiled. Ashely still had a stoic face as they drove home.
As soon as they got home, Ashley walked into the penthouse before Logan; what welcomed Logan was the fur pillow that Ashley took from the sofa and tossed towards Logan as he blocked it.
"Why?" As she yelled at the top of her voice. "Why didn’t you tell me the whole truth? Did you think I wouldn’t find out eventually?" Logan was excited that finally, she was venting out her concern. Ashley's voice echoed through the whole room, If the walls weren’t soundproof her voice would have been heard by the whole building. Logan became concerned as he noticed that Ashley's eyes had begun to swell up as she tried with all her might to hold back the tears.
“I thought everything was alright between us, I thought we could tell each other anything troubling us but now this.” Folding her arms into a kind self-hug as if to console herself as she moved inches away from Logan
Logan moved closer to her, Turning her towards him.
"Calm down, Ashley, I was going to tell you," he paused for a while and then continued. “I was just waiting for the right time. I never meant to hide it from it you, I was scared about what your reaction would be.” Logan says with an apologetic look on his face. “it's just that..."
"It's just that what Logan?" Ashley chipped "It’s just that what?" Ashley shouted as she decided to lash out as she turns away from him once more. At this moment, Logan realizes why Ashley had been so angry at him. For the first time since the whole incident occurred, Logan decided to put himself in the same position and how would have reacted the same way she reacted.
"I hid it away from you for your good. Now baby girl the look on your face is close to crushing my soul to pieces," The silver lining in Ashley's current situation is that he might be seeing the light at the end of this dark tunnel that he had been with Ashley and a little part of him was relieved of the guilt that constantly haunted him from not telling her the truth but now how could he convince her he desperately wanted to tell her everything for so long.
Ashley pushes Logan aback "I don’t want to hear it," lashing out her words thoroughly. "Why couldn’t you share it with me? You are always taking everything on your own. I want to share your pain and your burdens. I want to know where it hurts
I just want to be there for you
So why don’t you trust me the way I trust you, Logan?"
She tugs at his shirt with her eyes welling up in tears as she looks into his eyes then buries her head into his wide chest, the tears raining from her eyes soaking into his shirt.
A deep stab thrust into Logan’s heart unable to bear his lady in tears and the fact he was the cause of it made it even heavier on him suddenly the realization hit him like walking into a brink wall the more he tried to hide the dark parts of himself to make her happy the further she would drift away from him. Although it came with a high price, he realizes he would have to accept these dark parts of himself if he was ever to stay by her side forever wrapping his arms around her for a minute he hugged her gently pats down her hair, and kisses her forehead as he buries her again in his chest. Her tears continues to drip soaking into his shirt as they stayed like that for a while Logan continues to pat away at Ashley’s long silky hair.
"Listen I just didn’t want to put the burden on you. I mean we already have a lot going on and I just didn’t want you to worry If I told you everything then I know you wouldn't..."
Ashley landed a kiss on his lips before he could finish, his mind went blank instantly and all he could focus on were the taste of her lips against his tasting like strawberry vanilla.
"I understand now. I do," Ashley murmurs under her breath “But...”
She decided to let go of him like she regretted her action. Ashley began to walk towards the elevator. “Right now I just need some fresh air. “She said. Just as the elevator dole was about to open. Logan ran and caught up with her as he hugged her from behind. Logan was grateful for the opportunity that was set up before him and he realized that if he lets her go, he might not be presented with this kind of opportunity ever again.
They stood like that for a moment that would seem like an eternity.
At this point, Ashley tried to make sense of why Logan would have hidden it all from her. She began to find a reason as to why Logan hid his true identity and whispered to herself that.
"He was only doing it for me," she tried to convince herself. Ashley turned around and faced Logan whose face already had a saddened look on it as he said softly to her “Please stay.”
A smile sweeps across her face making Logan smile in return pulling her closer to him as they stay there tightly pressed against each other. Ashley intently stared into Logan’s eyes this time they were rosier than the normal scarlet look his white skin glistening with moonlight beaming through the window almost making it look his skin was glowing exactly as pale as the moon
The warmth of his skin through his shirt, with his arms around her, His muscles pressing against her back the way a certain kind of peace fills her heart every time Logan’s so close up to her It baffles her again and again.
‘He’s such a sweet drug' She thought to herself.
The moonlight falls on Ashley’s face with her body pressed against his in a tight hug, Her petit body and her bosom pressed against his chest.
"I can't afford to lose this damsel" The thought flashes past Logan’s mind and he breathes a sigh of relief.
"I just love you so much and you know that," Logan whispers and leans in for a kiss, Ashley's face all red with her heart throbbing like a drum in her chest releasing her clenched fist as if subdued into Logan’s breath.
Logan could not control the drum in his chest-beating uncontrollably Whether his clan would eventually come to accept Ashley or How to tell about the more dark secrets he held, All didn’t matter anymore all he could think about was the lips of his Goddess as he holds her in his arms.
They fell on the sofa and Logan’s lips stuck to Ashley’s running his fingers through her spine as she caresses his bulging chest
"Promise me," Ashley whispered as she moaned. "You will share it with me
every bit of you, I want you, I want all of you."
Logan smiles sure thing
She pulls him against her bosoms and hugs him tighter this time the night grows ever young as two souls burn each other into little ashes.
