Chapter 35

Ashley and Logan were soon gaining back the flare in their relationship, though it was going to take a while before they could be where they started, they were all willing to put in the work.



Now they went to therapy like the lovers they were and smiled more in each other's presence but as time passed by, something bothered Logan a lot that he was reluctant to share until one day, he mustered the courage to talk to his partner about it.



"Babe," he said as he held onto her hands as they ate dinner.



"Mmhh," Ashley answered as she took a morsel into her mouth.



"There is something I need to tell you," Logan's serious facial expression made Ashley give him her ultimate focus.



"What is it?" Ashley asked.



"Do you know what a blood moon festival is?" He asked after a long pause.



"I have heard little about it. Care to educate me?" She asked politely.



"You are a journalist in Central City and you have no idea what a Bloody moon festival is?" Logan asked as he lifted his eyebrows.



"I said I have heard about it, but I am certain it will sound better and sexier when you explain it to me," Ashley winked at Logan causing him to chuckle.



"Okay, if you insist," Logan cleared his throat "So the bloody moon festival is essential in the life of every werewolf and hybrid. It is held once every year and all the werewolves and hybrids that found love will come with their soulmates and they will be the center of attention throughout the festival.



"Okay. This sounds like a lot," Ashley admitted with a sigh.



"It is a lot." He kept quiet for a while as he contemplated telling her why he had been holding back this information from her throughout all these years.



"Since it's been every year, that means you have been partaking in it since we started dating."



"Yeah."



"Why are you telling me now? And it better not is what I am thinking," Logan felt relieved when Ashley spoke.



"It is, baby girl," Logan struggled to fake a smile as he tried to mask the emotions in his heart.



"Logan, are you out of your mind? I am a mere human, our last encounter with the council of the hybrids wasn't a pleasant one and now you want me to meet everybody? Logan this is a lot and I am not cut out for this stress right now." Ashley said in annoyance as she stood up from the dining table. Logan stood up and chased after Ashley and caught up with her in the sitting area. Logan held her by her waist.



"Ashley, I love you and I am certain it is time to show the world the woman I am in love with."



"This woman is a human and we are loathed by both the hybrids and the werewolves, so tell me how do we survive this? Not to forget that you are the leader of the hybrids." Logan's hand was still on Ashley's waist.



"Calm down and listen to me."



"Okay..."



"I love you and I am proud I have you. It is high time, the world knew who their queen was."



"And what will be the consequences of your action?"



"When the time comes we will find out."



"Oh wow. You already have your mind made up."



"I guess so," Logan leaned closer to kiss her. They were deep into their mesmerizing kiss when the door of the elevator dinged, As Logan raised his head to see who had access to his house other than Jessica and Tyler, he was shocked to see his big sister.



"Katherine" Logan said out loud.





Meanwhile, Jessica and Tyler were already heading toward the sitting room of the penthouse. They had procrastinated going to get some supplies for the house for a long time, and after so many considerations, they had finally decided to go.

Tyler was about to walk into the sitting room with his crutches when he heard his best friend utter the name of his big sister and like a bomb explosion, he felt a bang in his chest.



"Tyler I have seen you?" Katherine called out to him as he tried to do a U-turn back from where he had come from.



"Well I wanted to get you something to drink, I figured you will be tired," that was the best excuse Tyler could come up with. Tyler looked towards his best friend and saw Ashley wrapped in Logan's arm.



"I needed to come out of the house besides I heard you have been discharged, sorry for the incident" she apologized.



"Thank you, I am doing fine," Tyler answered. Logan finally mustered the courage to speak to his sister.



"I never knew you were coming," Logan said.



"I never knew you had a human girlfriend, wow, Logan! wow!" Katherine clapped her hands as she went to sit down. "You always find a way to amaze me with all your atrocities and this time you blew my mind the most. Not to think that for this human, you had to disrespect the council."



"This human has a name and she is named Ashl..."



"Ashley" Katherine completed the statement. "Ashley, I know the name, every hybrid knows the name everyone in Central City knows the name, especially the vampires. So yes, I know who Ashley is. Anyway, it is a pleasure to meet you, Ashley," Katherine said as she directed her gaze toward Ashley. Ashley felt insulted by this woman who she is just meeting that turns out is her boyfriend's elder sister.



"What does it mean to be a human? Why do you speak low of us like we are some piece of trash?" Ashley fired back.



"You want to know? Because you humans have been known to be deceitful and treacherous. So it's a crime to be a human."



"And how can you prove that? Because it's inhuman to make someone feel uncomfortable from the first time you meet them and you have made tremendous progress in that. What happened to first impression matters?" Ashley asked as she moved closer to Katherine.



"Wait, what?" Katherine threw her a stern look. "Do you expect me to bring you a rose flower?"



"No, but at least say nice words"

Logan stepped in between his sister and girlfriend "It's enough. I don't want anyone arguing about who is inferior or not," he turned towards Ashley "Ashley meet my elder sister," he turned towards Katherine "Katherine meet my girlfriend, Ashley." There was an awkward silence between the two of them. "This is the point you shake hands and hug yourself. And I mean it." Ashley handed her hands out first, and Katherine reluctantly shook hands with Ashley.

"What happened to the hugging part?" Katherine drew Ashley closed, and as they hugged she whispered to Ashley "Are you coming for the bloody moon festival?" As they broke from the hug, Ashley smiled and looked at everyone in the room.



"Yes, I will be going to the blood moon festival."
