Chapter 43
The chairs were full again; the seven leaders were all present, alongside Tyler and Karin. Everyone had come with their guards who of course stood in the dark.
"Welcome my fellow respectable leaders," Lord Carlos said in his usual Mexican accent. The other leaders acknowledged him with nods. "Thank you, Hefe for honoring the call," Lord Carlos started. "I know you have an inkling of why we are here," he continued.
"Though it shouldn't be heard, we all really want to know the reasoning behind your decision; the one about a human gaining a leadership stance in the clan."
Logan sighed ready to say for the umpteenth time. "This human is my woman."
"Yes, no arguments but then Lord Logan, you and this woman are not mated so we don't even know what to call this. What name should we give it?" Queen Vicky chipped in, her words underlined with spite.
"I have explained my reason and as you know, I detest discrimination," Logan said.
The blood-red-haired woman; Queen Vicky stood up and bowed to everyone before continuing. "Not a cause of disrespect but Lord Logan, we really appreciate your effort to discard discrimination in this clan, however, I do feel you are going overboard with it and I'm sure I have at least six people who are of the same view as me."
After more minutes of back and forth with the leaders, Logan left the meeting and followed very closely after he was Tyler and Karin.

Ashley's human ears couldn't make anything out of the murmurs from Logan's discourse with Tyler and Karin.
Did she want to hear any uber-important diplomatic unofficial meeting filled with short-tempered wolves or whatnot, who shout at each other at any given chance?
No.
Did she have a choice than listen?
Also No! They literally are hooked to the bedroom door arguing about Logan's decision about the human Ashley. They weren't questioning him, they just wanted him to comply with the leaders' wish, and of course, he was not having it. Raising and lowering their voices at each other.
Ashley might not have the hub for all-things-hybrid-and-werewolf knowledge, but she definitely knows Logan's word was final unless his words speak otherwise. If the guy told you he wanted you at a spot, you were going to be there unless he says you shouldn't.
And without lies, it vexed her that he tried to play the authority card with her.
Little heads would have been nice, that's all.
But then she remembered Jessica's words; she couldn't really fault him.
It still did not take out the fact that he did wrong as he did her really dirty.
"You okay?" Logan's hands on her shoulder fetched her back from her reverie. She did not realize he had even entered the room. She looked around for Karin and Tyler; they both were not around. She was very sure she heard the three of them arguing, or maybe her mind was playing tricks. "She probably was becoming a werewolf gradually." She thought to herself.
At his touch, she looked up and schooled her expression. "I'm fine," she said.
He did not quite believe her, but he didn't want to push– he knew she was going to disclose soon enough, it was his Ashley after all.
____
The next day at the office passed almost in a blur, with everyone covering routine, normal business errands. Despite the change of environment, Ashley still felt plenty of eyes on her; she felt like she was still in the spotlight.
"What is up with you today, Ashley?" Jessica asked, eager to hear from her friend.
Ashley did what she does when she doesn't want eye contact with her nosy friend, she turned her chair towards the skyline view of her office wall.
"Why are you off? I am not leaving until you speak," Ashley rolled her eyes.
"What is wrong?" Jessica insisted.
"Nothing, girl! I am just still not recovered from yesterday" Ashley said.
"Babes, calm down. Let nature take the course, you will be alright" Jessica said.
"Definitely, Thank you, baby!" Ashley said.
"Girl! Dave has been on my case since last week. I honestly am clueless about what he wants from me"
"Speak of the devil," Ashley said Dave strutted into her office.
"Hey! I have noticed your energy's been dead, what is it, baby girl?"
"Nothing actually, I just need time to myself," Ashley replied.
"Indirectly telling me to leave?"
"Something of a sort," Ashley said with a small smile.
"I will leave. Outcasts don't have to mourn forever," he said winking at Jessica before strutting back out like he just did when he walked in.
