Chapter 18
Logan was exhausted at the thought of losing Ashley and perplexed as to who would want to kidnap, Ashley. He couldn't help but wonder if it was a bunch of guys with the zeal of being wealthy in no time and trailed her for she looked wealthy with the hope of getting money from her close family members.
They will soon call and make their request. Logan was prepared to pay any amount of money that was needed by the abductors for Ashley. He was certain that she was worth more than anything he could think about.
"Why, Ashley?" Logan said out loud letting his frustration off on the steering wheel of his car.
"I have a bad feeling about this," Tyler said.
"Please, don't," Logan begged his best friend.
"Who could have kidnapped a journalist?" Tyler was about to lose his mind. Tyler liked Ashley. The moment he set his eyes upon her, he was certain that she had a wonderful heart. Tyler had no idea if all journalists were generally kind, but Ashley was naturally friendly with everyone that she met.
"Why do the good ones get hurt?" He asked his best friend that was driving a top speed heading to only who knew where.
"Because this world is a wicked place and it doesn't like the good people in it," Logan replied with his eyes fixed on the road.
"Logan, Where are we going?" Logan parked the car and looked at his best friend.
"I do not know. I am lost just as you are, but I have two guesses; it is either Eric the giant has gotten the balls to want a payback or just some random hungry dudes that see my Ashley as a woman that will fetch them a lot of money."
"Was the sprawl between you and Eric that terrible?" Tyler asked.
"Nothing serious, I have dealt with several guys that caused trouble in my club." Logan looked at his best friend
"Apart from dealing with them, what did you do Logan?"
"I broke his arm."
"Logan, Oh my God." Tyler ran his two hands over his curly brunette hair.
"You could have mentioned this earlier on. This is very serious and you left it out of what you told me. We would have tackled this. Logan this was an avoidable mistake." Logan was speechless. This wasn't the first time that he had dealt with people causing a commotion in his club. Why was this any different? He wondered.
It downed on Logan that his friend, Tyler might be right, he had seen some warning signs like during his last meeting with the rest of the elders.
"I hate to be in a situation where I have to wait but with the look of things, that is our only way out," Logan replied with a sad smile.
"I am not waiting," Tyler brought out his phone and dialed a number. Almost immediately someone picked up."Send me Eric's address," he ordered.
After a couple of minutes, his phone chimed signaling that an address was sent to him. He showed the address to Logan. "I know where it's located, it is deep into the vampire's clan." The roaring of the V12 Engine of the Lamborghini Aventador could be heard by everyone on the streets as Logan passed through." Fuck! Eric is a vampire," it struck Tyler.
"Which is why I have been restless and begging my stars that she is not in his place."
"But aren't vampires scared of the sun?" Tyler asked.
"Not his coven. They have the sacred blood ring."
"Are you sure, Logan?"
"Yes I saw it when I broke his arm."
"Watch out Logan!" Logan had narrowly escaped coalition by swaying away from a car that just switched lanes.
Logan released a sigh of relief and said, "that was close," he stepped on his throttle and accelerated.
Soon enough they were able to locate where Eric lived, they banged on his door with no response, "Eric! Eric!"
They both yelled for his name repeatedly but there was no reply. Tyler peeped through the window and saw that the house looked deserted.
Logan broke the door with one kick and walked into the house not worried about hurting himself. He checked all the rooms and found nobody in the house.
"He is not in there," Logan informed.
"Where could he be?" Tyler asked, not waiting for an answer to his rhetorical question, Tyler walked towards the door. Stepping out they realized the whole street was silent, though some were men to dwell in the shade of their verandas. The sun would soon go down and the whole street will be crowded with vampires struggling to meet ends means.
As they were about to walk into the car when Logan's phone rang.
"Hello," he said.
"Logan, how is your search going?" The huge voice from the other end of the phone asked.
"Stressful, but you know I will get to the end of the situation, Eric," Logan said.
"Let me make it easy for you. I have your girl, and here is proof..." after a few seconds, Logan heard the voice of his lover yelling for him to save her.
"So as you can see, you can go home and wait. I will send you your instructions later on." Eric cut the line. He had called him with a private line that couldn't be tracked. Logan knew the game that Eric was trying to play. He was restless, discombobulated, and scared. Logan's fear was coming to light, a lot was at stake and he knew it. Logan was certain that Eric had a plan in mind. If he played the game that Eric wanted him to play; he might end up losing the love of his wife.
"Tyler, we need a strategic plan"
"What do you have in mind?"
"First, we will need an army?"
"Hybrids or Werewolves?" Tyler asked.
"Werewolves. The Hybrids shouldn't hear about this. They will ask questions if they found out we are trying to rescue a human. But I am not scared of them, I just don't want Ashley to find out."
"Let me get this straight," Tyler looked at his friend. "You have a human in the custody of fewer than five vampires. You want to break her out from only Lord knows where with the help of werewolves without letting the human know you are hybrid?"
Logan smirked and said, "Yes."
"So help us, the moon goddess." They jumped into the car to discuss their plan on breaking Ashley out.
