Chapter 41

The walk to the pack house was short, and within ten minutes, Ashley was walking through the massive foyer. The pack house was the biggest home Ashley has seen in the hybrid's clan territory, and since it was used for meetings, parties, or other pack events, it was made to house close to a thousand people if needed. It was designed like a massive log cabin with chairs and couches, bean bags, and other furniture scattered through the pack meeting room.

From the moment Ashley walked in, there were people; Everywhere!

And heavens! Eyes feasted on her body, she almost thought they were going to lunch on her. She recognized some of the elders of the pack, they were seated on the couches, sipping whatever they had in their mugs and engaging in small talk. A couple of mated couples cuddled up on love seats and chairs, partially or completely tuned into each other.

"Ashley!" As soon as Tyler sighted her in the room, he called on to her, his baritone loud voice was all that was needed; now at least those around her, ceased conversations, curious gazes on her – most of them probably wondering why the human girl was at the clan's emergency meeting; Ashley definitely doesn't have an answer to that. A note brought her here; a note left for her by Logan.

"Hey," Ashley waved slowly. Tyler smiled back at her. "Over here!" He called on to her.

Ashley noticed she hasn't seen Logan since she made her way into the home. She concluded the empty seat beside Tyler was his, sensing her worry, Tyler pointed her direction to the raised part of the room; right in the middle of the room, not difficult to miss but Ashley did regardless. Logan was about to mount the pilot obviously about to give an announcement. He did not have to speak, as soon as he stepped on the mount, a gradual silence swept over the room and all eyes fell on him. Many people inclined their heads in respect for him.

"Everyone," Logan clunked on the glass he held, although eyes were already on him. "I've called you here today to discuss something not very pleasing – something that might as well affect the pack if a stance is not taken. In case you've heard or not, tensions are rising in the werewolf clan," Logan said.

A few gasps flew across the room, and even some of the elders began to whisper, Logan was quick to shut them out with a wave of his hand.

"Two of the largest pack in the country, the Iron hood pack, and the Fire ocean pack, have been on the brink of war for the past three months, and as we know, both pack alliances across the country are strong. They have alliances across the country of which we are part, of course. In case it's news, we have a long-standing alliance with the Iron Hood pack, and if they call upon us to help, I will deploy our warriors to fight...

As strong as we are, we are targets for Fire Ocean, they know where our Alliance lie and they will definitely want to try to cut us off. However, as I said, I won't hesitate to send help to the Iron Hood."

At that mention, noise erupted in the room, people especially elders; raising questions and asking them in disoriented unison.

Stead of answers, Logan stepped down from the mount, leaving everyone to continue their raucous.

Ashley, on one hand, though they have no reason to panic. The Hybrid pack alone could face the entire country and not be defeated.

"What is the cause of this conflict?" Ashley asked Tyler who has been beside her.

"It started the same way most conflicts start; ambitiousness and unnecessary stubbornness. Fire ocean has been steadily creeping into Iron Hood's territory. Although Iron Hood has been throwing warnings to them expressly and vaguely, they refused to take the hint; so they better be ready to take whatever comes their way," Tyler explained.

Logan stepped on the mount again, like he forgot something, and once again, silence fell everywhere uncommanded.

The next words falling out of his lips held Ashley speechless.
