97. Revival of dead memories
The light penetrated through the cave, where Akshara saw her mother again. Akshara stood to her feet and watched her closely. Sinentha had brought meat from a goat to feed the hungry wolf.
The wolf ate the whole goat. Akshara found that the scene was fast-forwarded, as she could see her mother coming and feeding the wolf every day.
The feeble wolf in the cave had grown into a healthy wolf thanks to Sinentha's food. One day, the wolf howled continuously, which pierced the ears of Akshara.
Akshara shouted, blocking her ears with her hands, "You, stop howling. My ears are hurting. Why do you howl? Keep quiet. Wait for my mother to come and feed you."
Akshara closed her mouth with her hands. The wolf turned into a man and knelt before Akshara. "Why all beasts deceiving me by turning into humans?" She exclaimed.
Akshara left out the word "Uncle Bruz?" through her closed mouth.
Akshara remembered everything about Uncle Bruz and his son Karen, who loved her crazily and risked his life taking her to Andhar Mountain to view the Bluemoon's night, knowing that he would transform into a wolf. She recalled how he trailed back to the Crystal Forest, ensuring her safety.
When the wolf was perfectly shaped into a human, Akshara’s mind gave her memories, which she chose to forget. The scenes of her escape from her palace flashed in her mind.
Akshara could hear a familiar female voice echoing to her, "You should not be here."
"Here? Where?" Akshara asked herself.
The voice of a girl echoed again, "He would have chosen me if he had not met you."
"Are you talking about Karen?" Akshara was puzzled. "What should I do?"
"Vanish" the familiar female voice echoed back to her. "Vanish from my life; give me a chance to live my life."
"Azile, as you wish, I will vanish." Akshara could feel she was gasping heavily and was shocked to find her feet running through wild woods. "Where am I going?"
When she opened her eyes, she found herself falling into a river from something. She could remember how the water entered her body and could feel the suffocation of her lungs.
"Help," Akshara screamed underwater and found a hand pulling her out of the deep river. The next thing she felt was her lips being sealed by someone with icy blue eyes.
In the blink of an eye, she found herself being carried by an icy blue-eyed man and feeling safe in his arms but waking in Frozen Crescent to forget all her memories and become a barmaid.
Akshara felt the rumbling of the ground under her feet, and she fell over the ground like a dead log. She tried hard to crawl to the entrance to get herself out of the mysterious cave. Before she could crawl out of the cave, she found her mother was approaching the wolf to feed.
Akshara tried to stop her mother, "No wolf, it's Uncle Bruz! Mommy, don’t go."
Sinentha was shocked by the wolf’s transformation into a man. In shock, Sinentha dropped her basket and rushed towards the entrance of the cave. Alabruz caught her and placed her against the walls, "Beauty... Wait. Before you rush out, hear me out."
Akshara shouted, "No... Uncle Bruz... Don’t hurt her."
Sinentha asked him, "Who are you?"
Alabruz replied, "I am a wolf who has been fed by you. I am the Alpha in my pack of rogues. I was betrayed by my family for my position."
Akshara and Sinentha both asked in unison, "Betrayed by family?"
Sinentha looked into Alabruz's face and said, "I am happy to help you. I thought you were an animal. And if you excuse me, I will return to my home. I swear I won’t reveal your identity to anyone."
Alabruz stopped her, "Wait... I... I have fallen in love with you."
"What? Have you fallen in love with my mother? Uncle Bruz, how can you?" Akshara asked Bruz if he could hear her.
Sinentha replied, "But I have someone waiting for me outside. I cannot accept you."
"Nene?" a male echoed outside of the cave. Both Sinentha and Akshara hurried to the entrance to meet the man. Sinentha ran out of the cave, but Akshara couldn’t. She gets to see a glimpse of the silhouette of a man caressing her mother. Akshara cried, "Dad..."
Akshara tried to follow her father but was pulled out of the lustrous stone by Dev. He caressed Akshara tightly to ease her shivering, who was crying like a baby in his arms.
She tightened her wrapping around Dev's neck, closed her eyes tightly and cried out loud, not realising that she had been out of the ball of memory. "Dad, please, don’t leave me again. Mommy, take me with you. Please don’t leave me to spend the rest of my life with beasts. Please, take me with you. Don’t punish me like this. Why did you leave me with the beasts? Everyone here is a beast. Please daddy, mommy..."
Hearing those words from Akshara, Dev felt his heart had been bleeding and felt immense pain like his heart had been pierced with a sharp object. "It’s my entire fault."
After a few minutes of wailing, Dev patted her back and voiced in her ears, "I got you. You are not alone. I am here for you. I will protect you."
"No, you won’t," Akshara replied to him in her subconscious state and continued her complaint by sobbing, "You walked away from me, you doubted my love."
Dev replied to her, "That’s not true. I never doubted your love."
Akshara continued her wailing, "You have someone to replace me. I was born with a doomed fate. All my beloveds, whoever I love, are leaving me alone, giving me back suffering. You are one of them."
"I am not leaving you. Open your eyes, Sara. Look at my wings; you are safe in my wings. I got you in my arms and I will not leave you. Open your eyes, Sara." Dev consoled her for a while.
But Akshara didn’t come out of her normal mind when nothing helped Dev to pull her out of her mind and he kissed her deeply by passing some power to her.
Akshara pushed him away after realising she was in the hands of Dev and not in the caves anymore. Dev understood the cause of her reflexive action.
Dev called her, "Sara..."
Akshara stopped him by gesturing her palm and told him, through her shivering, "No don’t go away. I made up my mind."
"Your mind? Are they clear now?" Dev questioned her to confirm that she was normal.
Akshara gave him a fierce stare and said, "I have made up my mind to spend the rest of my life in this cave with that fero, no, El Detza, than the most vicious beast like you. You can enjoy your life luxuriously with anyone as you please with your lustrous crown on your head. I won’t interfere in your life anymore. And I don’t want to."
Dev tried to calm her down by pulling her into a hug, but Akshara completely ignored him and pushed him away. Dev recognised that his previous actions had deeply hurt her and tried everything he could to console her.
Dev mouthed by clutching her into his embrace, "Sara... Hear me. Let me explain."
"Confidential things, huh?" Akshara cried while pushing him away with all her force, "Anyone can hit me, slap me, harass me, abuse me, mistreat me, crush me, betray me… Because there is no one, no one in this entire world to save me, care for me, protect me, speak for me, and at least stand for me."
She shouted to her maximum and her voice echoed on the walls of the cave, "I don’t know why I was destined to be born like this. I was a burden to my parents, who abandoned me as a child to rot in hell. I turned down the man who once loved me wholeheartedly, despite the fact that he was a wolf. After then, -"
"After that, everything is clouded in my destiny," she said as she sat on the ground, clutching her knees tightly. Then you came into my life, you walked freely, and you gave me heartbreak without any trance. Now, you leave. I am a fool to believe that I finally found someone who could take care of me. I was wrong. I was wrong all the time."
Dev consoled her by towing her in his embrace, "Sara... Please don’t talk like this... I am here to protect you. I will be with you till my last breath."
Akshara replied immediately in his embrace, "But you were silent when I was accused. Your silence killed me, Devil. Why did you do that?"
She dodged him away, "I am not your Sara anymore. She had been found dead already. You have spent your luxurious happy days in the castle while I am suffering here in this dungeon. Aren’t you sleeping these three days? Have your jinxes gone out of stock? Or you don’t want to meet me anymore, even in your dreams?"
