Chapter 21.
Flashback 23rd of April.
Another notification popped on her phone. It was Anthony. He had been trying to reach her and she had been doing everything she could to avoid him. She was already ashamed of herself enough after what transpired between them, she didn't think she would ever see him again after that, nor did she plan to see him either way.
She didn't like him that way and what had transpired between the two of them had been an honest mistake. One she didn't plan on repeating again. She had also not told Roman about what transpired between her because things were going so well between them.
What they had, was special. She didn't want to ruin it.
She smiled again as she ran a hand through her dark brown hair. The interview went great.
She had answered the questions honestly and confidently and so far they seemed really pleased with her.
That was a good start, everything seemed to be looking up. She was going to be fine. Completely and utterly fine. She told herself as she walked down the street to her apartment.
Her phone rang and she picked it up the minute she saw it was Roman.
"Hey."
She said gleefully with a smile on her face.
"Hey you! I've missed you."
Megan rolled her eyes.
"Oh come on! We've been apart for barely twelve hours. How's work?"
"Ugh! I can't concentrate. Are we seeing today?"
He asked and Megan nodded.
"Sure. Where do you want us to meet up?"
Roman smirked as he twirled in his seat.
"I was thinking we'd go watch a movie at that new fancy private theatre and then maybe dinner and we'll spend the night at my place."
"What do you think?"
He asked and Megan's eyes widened.
Roman always went all out with their dates and meetings he never seized to lavish as much as he could to make everything even more romantic and special than it already was.
She wasn't too surprised though, he was a very rich man and he had the resources.
"That sounds as wonderful as it is. Sure! I'm in."
"Great!!! I'll pick you up around 6:30? What do you say?"
Megan nodded.
"Yup! Perfect!"
She couldn't wait to wear the new Victoria's secret lingerie she ordered and watch Roman's reaction to it.
As she walked into her apartment and started bringing out the things she needed for the date, she felt it was still too early to be getting ready but she was way too excited to stop, besides it wasn't as if she had anything else to do but get ready. She had no job or anything whatsoever to keep her occupied. She had nothing to do but wait around and see if she was going to get a call from the company.
She was still rummaging through her closet when she got a call. She ran towards her phone with speed and picked up her phone.
"Hello?"
She said into the phone.
"Hello. Am I speaking to Ms Andrews?"
The voice asked.
Megan was beaming with excitement already, it sounded like the phone call was for the job interview she had earlier, she couldn't wait to hear the outcome of it.
"Yes, this is she. Who am I speaking with?"
"This is Mr Gates from Citigroup, we're calling to inform you about your interview earlier."
"Unfortunately, you didn't get the job. But we wish you the best in all your endeavours Ms Andrews."
The voice said and hung up immediately, leaving Megan confused and dejected.
She was so confident about the job, she was supposed to get the job. Her interview was flawless as far as she was concerned.
What went wrong?
Her mood was ruined.
She thought as she dropped her phone and tried to shake off the sadness in her guts.
Present day.
"I need a new apartment. Staying with my mum isn't going as well as it should be."
Chloe raised her eyebrow.
"Why? I thought you'd want to stay there so she'll help you out with the baby and all."
Megan nodded.
"I thought so too. But my mum and I don't make the best roommates and she's starting to meddle too much in my affairs."
Salma sighed.
There was a hand on her belly, she was getting bigger and bigger everyday as she neared her third trimester, Megan on the other hand was just entering her second semester.
And she could see the bump already, it wasn't obvious and could still be hidden under loose fitted clothes but she could see it and feel it.
Her baby was real.
"What did she do? I don't think it's a smart idea house hunting while pregnant. Trust me, it can be quite a tiring process."
Megan sighed.
She wasn't going to say anything about it earlier but since they were asking about it, she had no choice but to let them know.
"Well, my mum wants me to start dating Anthony and ditch Roman. She's convinced he's the father and thinks I should be with him instead."
"Well, what do you think?"
Salma asked.
Megan shook her head.
"Well... I don't want to make hasty decisions. There's a possibility one of them is the father of the baby. And yes, Anthony is sweet and all but I really just want to get my memories back before doing anything too drastic."
Chloe nodded.
"I really think that's a great idea. Don't rush it. You might get your memories sooner than later and figure out some things."
Megan nodded.
Exactly. Why wasn't her mother seeing things from her point of view, she could get her memory back and find out who the father was.
She also didn't want to rush the idea of a relationship.
"But, be honest with us. Who do you think you have the most connection with?"
Salma asked with a sneaky grin on her face. Megan blushed.
There was only one person who came to mind with that question and there was no denying who it was.
"Roman."
"Ohh! I knew it! That sexy hot CEO"
Salma said.
"Salma!" Chloe called out shockingly and Salma shrugged.
"What?! I'm just saying he's not a bad catch. I looked him up."
The three of them laughed and then quickly controlled themselves when their yoga instructor cleared her throat, her narrowed eyes warning them.
"Okay okay. Let's get back to work before somebody gets mad."
Salma muttered under her breath and they all giggled.
Walking out of her yoga class the first person Megan saw standing out the door in a charcoal dark suit and bouquet of flowers was Roman.
Her cheeks blushed quickly and she looked around, some of the women from her class who were coming out were stopping to admire him.
"What are you doing here?"
She asked in a whisper and Roman shrugged.
Utterly oblivious to the women swooning at him.
"I wanted to pick you up."
"I remember you saying you were in yoga class and then you mentioned the address so yea I decided to pick you up."
"I also brought you flowers."
He said as he stretched his hand out and Megan received the flowers from him.
"Thank you. They're so pretty."
"But you didn't have to bother. Looks like you just got off work."
She said as she tried to draw her hoodie closer. She was still nervous about showing off her belly, since no one except her, her mum, the doctor and the yoga class had seen it.
"Yea. But it's fine. Are you ready to go now?"
He asked.
Megan was about to say yes before Salma interrupted them.
"You must be Roman! I've heard so much about you."
She said in a high pitched tone and Megan wanted the ground to open up and swallow her.
Salma! She said in her mind as she screamed internally.
Roman caught on to her statement and he raised his eyebrows.
"Oh wow. That's interesting. Nice to meet you."
He said as he stretched his hand towards Salma.
"Nice to meet you too."
Salma said as she shook him slightly.
Salma turned to Megan, she was practically beaming while Megan's face was turning red.
"So, I'll talk to my boyfriend about you looking for a new apartment, before the end of the week he'll have a few options for you."
"Oh thank you so much."
Megan said.
"No problem. I gotta go."
She said as she waved at both of them.
Roman turned to her with a questioning look.
"You're looking for a new apartment?"
He asked and she nodded.
"Yea. I was just thinking about getting a place before the baby comes and hopefully setting it up before then."
"I can help you with that."
He said and Megan shook her head.
"No. It's fine..."
"I insist Megan. You already have a lot to do and think about. It's not a big deal for me, I'll just put a call through to my realtor real quick."
Megan wanted to complain again about doing it herself but Roman wasn't listening, he didn't even look like he was going to be taking no for an answer so she decided to drop the topic.
He was right after all, she did have a lot to do.
