Epilogue.
Three days later.
"Paige Harrington. Oh she's such a beauty. She has her father's eyes."
Megan's mother said as she rocked the baby and Megan smiled lightly. Still hooked up to an IV and tired from surgery, she had an emergency C-section and she was still reeling from the effects of it.
Her labour had been long and the epidural she was meant to have had been delayed. At least Roman was there. He was there for her, holding her hand all through the labour pangs, feeding her and whispering words of affirmation to her, up until the moment it was time for her C-section.
And after the baby was born and she had passed out of exhaustion, he had stayed with their daughter and waited in the hospital till she woke up, even after his mother and Megan's mother pleaded with him to get some rest.
"And his lips I think. She looks like she's going to look more like him than me."
Megan said and her mother smiled.
"That's not a bad thing. How do you feel?"
"Like I got run over by a truck."
Megan said honestly.
"It'll pass."
"Roman stepped out for a bit. To shower and change I guess, he's been here for quite a while."
Megan smiled.
"I know. He looked so tired. I just had to beg him to take a break."
"He's a good man."
Her mother said and Megan nodded.
"Yes. He is."
"I'm happy you have him. You and Paige both."
Her mother said and Megan nodded.
"I'm happy too, with the way everything turned out and all. Who would have thought all this would start with me losing my memory..."
Her mum nodded.
"I know. Who would have thought!"
She chuckled as she looked down at her granddaughter.
"Now I have a granddaughter."
Megan nodded.
She watched how her mother was looking at her daughter and sniffed.
"Did you regret it?"
Megan asked her mother and she turned to her sharply.
"Regret what?"
"Having me? All alone? You know, I now know how hard it must have been for you."
"You were the best thing that happened to me Megan, I did what I had to do."
Megan nodded.
A small smile on her lips.
There was a slight knock on the door of her private room and Mrs Harrington walked in with her son in tow.
"I came as quickly as I could."
She said with a bright smile on her face.
"I'm so glad you could make it. Thank you for everything."
Megan said sincerely and Mrs Harrington nodded, more interested in meeting her granddaughter.
She turned to Megan's mother and smiled.
"So good to see that you've finally gotten some rest too."
She said and Megan's mother nodded.
"Yes, you too. Long nights."
Her mother and his mother had met while staying over at the hospital while Megan was in labour, they seemed to have bonded well with each other.
Megan turned to Roman who looked dressed and clean. He had a smile on his face as he approached Megan and planted a soft kiss on her lips.
"How's the newest mummy on the block doing?"
"Sore. I really can't wait to leave."
Roman nodded.
"I know. As soon as the doctor says it's okay for you to leave, you're leaving."
"I can't wait."
She groaned.
Roman nodded.
"Me either."
"And how's our little angel doing?"
He said as he turned to his mother who was now holding the baby.
"She's doing great."
His mother said.
Paige, they had picked out the name a day after her birth, because they had both found it hard to agree on what to name her.
They found it to be perfect, befitting even. Paige Harrington, the name went so well. Sounded well enough too.
"So we haven't yet decided where we're staying after this, your apartment might be idle but you have to admit it's small for all three of us."
Megan tilted her head to the side, he was making a point, but she loved her apartment.
"Are you inviting me over to stay with you?"
She asked and Roman shrugged.
"I don't even think my apartment would be ideal, I think we should start searching for larger places tpo live."
Megan lowered her eyes.
"That would mean you want us to live together?"
Roman nodded.
"Yes, as long as you're open to the idea. I mean, do you want to move in with me? I know it's a big step..."
Megan nodded.
"It is."
"But, I'm ready as long as you are."
She said as she held his hand and he smiled.
"I'm ready too. been ready for a long time."
Roman replied as he planted a soft kiss on her lips.
THE END.
