Chapter 13: Phase two
**Alice’s Point of view**
I wast no more time and ran towards the Blue Red corridor in hopes of stopping this madness. My dad didn't tell me anything more, just to run as fast as possible.
As I approach, I see Elliot running in the same direction.
"What's going on?" I ask without stopping.
"I don't know. My dad called me in a hurry to tell me that this was THE big moment. That you had plotted with the rogues to weaken and attack us."
"That doesn't make any sense. My father told me that you were the one who set them up."
We look at each other, having the same idea.
"Another way to divide us?" He asks.
"No doubt about it. But our packs have been suspecting each other for weeks without making any move. What changed?"
We hear sounds of fights and redouble our speed.
"Have you called Alpha Jack or Derek?" I ask.
"No, but Simon went to get them. Alice, we need to talk some sense into them."
When we arrive, guards on both sides are fighting. We split up and use our Alpha tone to get our way. Elliot and I face each other while the wounded are evacuated and the others return to human form.
I decide to mind link my dad. *"Dad I'm at the Blue Red corridor and..."*
*"Great. Hold on, I've got everyone together, we're ready to fight."*
I wasn't expecting this. Even though he hates the Reds, he has always avoided combat casualties. But now he's provoking a confrontation.
*"I stopped the fight."*
He remains silent for a moment. *"No way. Unless you killed all the Reds that were there."*
*"No, it was Elliot who stopped them."*
Another silence.* "Dad?"*
*"On my way."*
He cuts the communication and from the glassy look on Elliot's face, he must be talking with his father too. He looks displeased and when his gaze lands on me he seems to relax a bit.
Our pack members are facing each other and grumbling so we can't communicate out loud. I would like to tell him that everything is going to be fine and that we will solve the problem.
As I started to smile at him, his eyes hardened and he showed me his teeth causing me a violent pain in my chest. His conversation with his father has changed his mind and that saddens me. Cassie moans in pain.
*"Why is mate growling at us? It's your fault, Alice! He doesn't want us anymore we made him wait too long."*
I don't answer because she is right.
I then see him looking insistently at the members of my pack before returning his gaze to me. I understand then that he plays the comedy because we are not supposed to get along but to hate each other. I do just like him to keep our secret.
I hear footsteps behind me but I keep eye contact with Elliot. I watch as his father and his mother stand next to him while mines do the same. Out of the corner of my eye, I see that the Beta and the Gamma are there as well as Sam and Melanie.
Like a mirror, the same thing happens to the Reds. Only Simon is missing because he is with the Silver and I hope he will arrive soon with them. Despite the tension, I don't miss the murderous look Owen gives to Sam. I grit my teeth but say nothing.
The silence grows longer and I become more and more uncomfortable.
Unable to take it anymore, I clear my throat and turn to my father.
"What happened?" I ask quietly, but with their super hearing, I know the Reds can hear me.
"Yesterday, some rogues were roaming near our border with the city and the guards heard them talking. They said they were going to attack us soon and that they had to be careful not to hurt the Reds too much because that's the deal they made with Alpha Mark: to fight to not raise suspicions without seriously hurting anyone."
"That's nonsense! We're the ones who heard that you teamed up with them."
My father huffs. "Seriously. That’s too easy."
"You're the one saying that?"
The tone rises, forcing Elliot to intervene.
"Maybe the rogues are trying to turn us against each other."
"And why would they do that?" My dad asks.
I intervene. "Because it's no secret that we hate each other. Look at us! Just by hearing rogues whispering things we're out there fighting. All they have to do is wipe out the survivors."
"That's an interesting theory." We all turn to Alpha Jack who comes running in accompanied by Simon, Derek, the Beta, the Gamma, and a few fighters. "But I don't see why they would do such a thing. They know they can't beat us. As I've discussed with Alpha Mark and Alpha John, they'll eventually get tired of it and leave."
"And if they don't?" Asks Elliot. "What if the threat is more serious than we think?"
This remark makes everyone laugh except me because I'm the only one who knows the truth. Everyone is laughing at him and Cassie and I can't stand it.
"I agree with him." The silence falls and I only now understand my mistake. A Blue agreeing with a Red? No way. My whole pack looks shocked or suspicious. Others look like they can't believe what they just heard.
My dad glares at me and I lose my nerve a little and mumble. "I mean there is some truth to what he is saying. We know they're moving around because of the corridors and we were able to beat them but they didn't give up. Plus, rogues are not the type to organize themselves. Of course, they are sometimes in small groups but here they are numerous this time. They have at least a leader. The question is: what is their goal?"
"They may even be acting on behalf of someone. An enemy pack that wants to see us tear each other apart for example." Elliot adds, looking at me.
As I nod, our fathers huff. "Son, the only ones who want to see us fall are standing in front of us!"
Things get even worse, the tone rises, insults and threats fly. Elliot and I look at each other in silence and I feel like I can read his mind.
Yeah. We are in deep shit.
