Chapter 45: Turbulences

**Alice’s Point of view**

We barely took off when my father and grandfather yell at me.
"What were you doing talking about that in front of everyone?" My father roars.
"Now that they know about these poisonous plants, they'll do everything they can to find one and destroy us with it." Adds my grandfather.
I sigh. "Whether you like it or not, we're all in this together. I felt it was important to share the information I had."
"What you know is no interest to us." Spits out my grandfather.
"You should have told us before." Says my father.
"You would have talked me out of it."
"And we would have been right!" Shouts my grandfather. "Throwing it out in front of everyone. It's not possible to be that stupid."
A grunt is heard. "Don't talk to my daughter like that." Says my mother through her teeth.
"You, stay out of it. I talk to her like I want."
This time it's me who growls. "You owe respect to your Luna. And to your future Alpha."
He huffs. "I don't see any future Alpha here. I can't wait for your mate to arrive, the real Alpha of this pack, the grandson I should have had."
I laughed softly, thinking about how he would react if he knew that Elliot would have to lead his precious pack. "Be very careful what you wish for, old man. And I remind you that if you've only had one granddaughter, it's all your fault."
He stands up straight, threatening. "It's not my fault. It's your grandmother who only gave me a son and your mother who wasn't able to provide a male heir."
I grit my teeth, feeling Cassie ready to pounce to rip out his tongue.
Goddess, I hate him so much.
"You obviously don't know everything, old man. Maybe if you had studied, you would know that the man determines the sex of the child. The egg of the female necessarily has an X chromosome, since that is all we have. On the other hand, spermatozoids have an X or Y chromosome. So it is the sperm that determines the sex of the child. So first of all, you should educate yourself before speaking and you should blame dad's sperm and not my mother’s!"
Everyone is shocked. My grandfather has his claws out.
"How dare you..."
But I'm not done.
"Secondly, you might have had more children if you'd had pups with your destined mate."
The silence falls. My grandfather's face is closed and obviously, no one understands what is going on.
"What are you talking about, Alice?" Asks my father, exasperated.
"Oh, you don't know? Grandpa's destined mate was Violet, the daughter of Alpha Adam. But Grandpa rejected her and she killed herself. He rejected her when she wasn't even a Red! He rejected her because her twin Vivian was Alpha George's destined mate. He also rejected his mate and she found her sister's body right after. She killed herself too."
"Is it true dad?" Asks my father in disbelief.
He straightens his chin. "Yes, it's true and I don't regret it. I did everything that a good Alpha should do."
"That's not true." I cut him off. "A good Alpha would have warned his son that Vivian's second mate lost his mind when she killed herself and attacked our three packs at the same time. Sounds familiar?"
"Are you saying he's the one attacking us?" My mom asks.
"I'm just saying he never had a Luna and has no heir, probably too busy planning his revenge. But our super Alpha here didn't see fit to warn us of this potential danger, out of sheer egotism."
"That's bullshit! Where do you know this from anyway?" He roared.
"What? You're afraid I know other secrets? Like the fact that you wanted dad to reject mom because she grew up with Luna Lily?"
My dad opens his eyes wide and turns to my mom, looking betrayed. My mom looks hurt so I try to save the situation for her.
"No, she didn't say anything to me. I'm just not as dumb as you all seem to think."
"You're going to tell us right now how you found out!" My grandfather commands me in his Alpha tone, but it does not affect me.
"I thought what I knew was irrelevant." I reply with a smirk.
Suddenly he roars and lunges at me. I stand up in a fluid movement and dodge his attacks. My father tries to pull us apart but my grandfather pushes him away.
"Step aside, John. Someone needs to teach this insolent little girl a lesson."
Just as I think my dad is going to stand up for me, he steps aside.
I feel like I'm being stabbed in the heart. He, my Alpha, my father who always calls me baby girl, he, who is supposed to protect me is ready to watch his father hit me.
Deep anger rises in me and I feel something growing inside me, making me stronger. I understand that it's coming from Elliot and everything seems to be in slow motion.
I see my grandfather trying to lacerate my face with his claws and bite me with his fangs.
At an incredible speed, I block and land a kick in his knee, forcing him to the ground, followed by a right hook that makes him spit blood and teeth.
I step back slightly to force myself to stay calm.
Everyone is still and silent, not knowing how to react.
"If you want it so much old man, we can fight when we'll land. In our wolf form, with weapons, with our bare hands, whatever. We both know you don't stand a chance."
Too angry to think about the consequences, I look coldly at my father.
"When the rogue problem is solved, I'll challenge you dad."
Once again, everyone gasps.
"Alice..." He says in a threatening tone.
"An Alpha who can't protect his daughter can't protect his pack." I say, disappointed.
He growls. "I'm warning you if you do this..."
"What are you going to do?" I cut him off. "Disown me? You can't! No one can take over from you but me!"
"You can't beat me." He says through his teeth.
"Wanna bet?" I ask with a raised eyebrow.
"Please calm down." My mother interjects. "We're all a little on edge, it's normal. Let's all take a deep breath and think. This is not the time to fight each other."
My mother's soothing tone takes effect and the rest of the flight passes in a heavy silence.
I try to sleep a little but I feel bad. I feel like I'm falling asleep and waking up right away and a lump is forming in my stomach.
As we get off the plane, Melanie's phone rings and she rushes to answer it. The conversation is short and she hangs up, tears in her eyes.
*"It was Simon. Elliot is seriously ill, he keeps passing out and vomiting. They think he has been poisoned."*
