Chapter 48: Not the enemy

**Alice’s Point of view**

They surround me, ready to jump on me.
"I've got something to treat Elliot."
They immediately stop growling and exchange puzzled looks. One of them walks away to shift behind a tree.
*"Alpha Alice! What are you doing?"* Asks one of my guards through mind-link, panicking.
*"It's all right. I'm here of my own free will to help them."*
*"We're coming!"* Says another.
*"No, don't! They might take it as a declaration of war. They will feel less threatened if I go alone."*
*"Why are you going to help them?"* A third one asks suspiciously.
*"For the sake of our pack. Don't worry, I'll be back soon."*
I hear them whimper in the distance, not reassured that I am on enemy ground.
The man who shifted stands in front of me, his face hard.
"Alpha Alice. You know we could kill you for violating our territory." He says in a threatening tone and the others growl to back up his words.
I exhale. "Look, Elliot is running out of time so take me to him. I have the cure."
He laughs loudly and looks at me like I'm crazy. "You mean you, future Alpha of Blue Moon pack, came to save your worst enemy?"
"In case you didn't know, we're forced to get along. King's order." He crosses his arms and looks at me hard. "If it's any consolation, you can't stop me from going to see him. I thought it was better that I show up and get an escort than to sneak in."
"Alpha Mark knows you're here. He's on his way."
A few seconds later, a large black wolf appears. I can see he's trying to impress me and strangely, it doesn't work at all.
I nod my head in respect. "Alpha Mark. I'm sorry to show up unannounced but Elliot's time is up. I've been reading about plants made by witches and there's one that matches Elliot's symptoms. It's called scarlet silver and I was able to make the antidote." I say with confidence.
I look at him expectantly but he is unmoved. I can't believe it. His son is dying and it's like he doesn't even care.
I shake my head. "Look, he's going to die either way. What do you have to lose?"
I wait a few seconds but nothing.
*"Is he really willing to let him die rather than accept our help?"* Cassie asks as disgusted as I am.
"Let her through!"
Luna Lily comes running towards us and stops between her mate and me.
"Alice. Are you sure about this?"
"100%."
"Good. Follow me." She turns toward their packhouse but Alpha Mark growls and blocks the way.
"Get out of the way, Mark. I'm taking her to see our son."
He grunts again and seems to say something to her through mind-link.
"I don't care if she's a Blue. She has something to heal Elliot, that's all that matters."
He growls again and lightly moves into an attack position, showing his teeth, using his Alpha aura.
I am in shock, as are the guards who have their necks open in submission. His aura is so powerful that even I lower my head slightly.
Luna Lily doesn't move a muscle. She is even furious.
"How dare you?" She screams.
He stands up straight and tilts his head slightly to the side.
"You may be the Alpha, but I am the Luna. I am your equal, not your submissive!" She screams as she walks towards him.
I can't help but be impressed by her strength and confidence.
"Come with me Alice. We're going to see Elliot and NO ONE can stop us." She says as she looks Alpha Mark straight in the eye.
She starts walking and I follow her, under the growls of all the wolves that follow us.
I thought Elliot would have been taken to the hospital and not the packhouse. When I ask Luna Lily the reason for this choice, she tells me that the hospital couldn't do anything for him anymore and that she wanted him to be at home for his last moments.
I follow her through the corridors, under the shocked looks of the other members. Some look at me with hatred, some insult me and some seem ready to jump on me. I ignore them and finally enter Elliot's room.
The first thing that hits me is his sweet smell. Then I see him, laying in his large bed, some tubes in is nose, surrounded by machines. My personal demon is there, beeping faintly to the rhythm of his heart. A whole bunch of others is connected to him and I spot an IV.
Alpha Mark finally enters in human form. He glares at Luna Lily and me and approaches Elliot. His face finally softens and shows his desperation.
"Do you know if this stuff is hurting him?" He asks softly.
I swallow, not knowing how to justify the fact that I know for sure he's in pain. And again, I only have a small idea of how he feels.
"Like hell. Says the book."
He nods painfully. "Fine. Do what you have to do."
I don't waste another second and take the vial out of my bag. At the same time, some doctors arrive with their gowns, wanting to prevent me from giving him the potion.
A sharp order from Luna Lily silences them and I grab a syringe to inject it into the IV.
As soon as I remove the syringe, Alpha Mark speaks up. "If this is over, you can leave."
I shake my head. "I need to see if it work."
He grunts, clearly unhappy.
A few minutes later, Elliot begins to fidget, his face contorted in pain.
"It seems to be working." Says one of the doctors, examining Elliot.
"Then why does he seem to be in pain all of a sudden?" Asks Alpha Mark, glaring at me.
A doctor responds. "I think that even in the coma, he was already in pain. But since he's just coming out of it..."
Luna Lily gasps and covers her mouth with a hand, tears in her eyes. Alpha Mark gets up immediately to take her in his arms.
I feel Elliot's pain increase until it becomes unbearable. His heart accelerates and everyone panics, not understanding that unfortunately, he is regaining consciousness.
I don't know what's wrong with me, but I gently place my hand on his and squeeze his fingers between mine. As soon as I touch him, his heart races to its peak and suddenly calms down.
The room is quiet, everyone listening to Elliot's steady, calm heartbeat. His face is relaxed and I don't feel any pain anymore.
"How is that possible?" Alpha Mark mutters.
*"Sometimes mates can ease each other's pain."* Says Cassie gently. *"Find an excuse for them all to go away."*
"I think he needs to rest. I'll stay and make sure there are no side effects."
Alpha Mark huffs. "No way am I leaving you alone with him."
"We'll stay." Says Simon as he entered the room.
"We'll keep an eye on her." Adds Owen as he enters as well, arms crossed and face hard.
They leave us alone and the second the door closes, I climb onto the bed and rest my head on Elliot's shoulder, one arm across his chest.
"What are you doing?" Simon asks.
"I'm easing his pain."
"Good. Now tell us everything."
