Chapter 28: Double aggression
**Alice’s Point of view**
I am so angry. Who does he think he is to give me orders like that? Forbid me to go and see this mysterious source? I'm dreaming!
I walk towards the campus, with an angry step. I pass a few people who look at me strangely. A girl on the phone looks me up and down with an evil look.
"What? You got a problem?" I bark.
She looks at me with a scornful look and as if to sneer at the person she is talking to.
*"You need to calm down! Geez, it's a wonder which one of us is the wild beast."* Says Cassie.
*"She pissed me off!"*
*"She was just walking. That's just your ego getting hurt."*
*"That again! It's not an ego thing at all! And I don't understand you approving like that. You're an Alpha damn it! You shouldn't be as angry as I am, if not more!"*
*"Yes, I am an Alpha. So is he."*
*"And since when does an Alpha shut up in front of another?"*
*"It's not shutting up. We were having a conversation with him."* She says calmly.
*"You call that a conversation? He ordered us not to go and that was it. He dared to use his Alpha tone on me to make me obey him!"*
She sighs. *"It wasn't Elliot, it was Leo. He didn't do it on purpose he was just worried about us."*
*"I'm a big girl. I can't believe it. I open up to him, tell him that even my grandfather doesn't take me seriously and doesn't think I can defend myself or our pack and he, not five minutes later, treats me like a baby?"* I shake my head in disgust.
*"He just wanted to protect us."*
*"No, he wanted us to obey him. See, this is exactly what I was afraid of. We're not even together and he thinks I'm inferior to him. That's why I can't be his Luna. It's just not possible."*
Cassie groaned. *"Don't say that. You don't understand that there is no difference between an Alpha and a Luna. They are two equal mates protecting a pack. Together. Luna, Alpha ... it's just the name that changes, not who you are."*
I shake my head. *"It doesn't change anything."*
*"On the contrary, it changes everything."* She murmurs. *"You refuse the happiness that comes your way for an ego thing."*
*"You're annoying me with this. All of you!"* I say angrily before cutting the communication with her.
I arrive at the entrance of the campus and see that I am early. I decide to wait in the adjacent parking lot, in plain sight. There are only about ten cars but they are all empty. It's still daylight but I know that the streetlights will soon come on. I place myself under one of them so that my correspondent can see that I am alone.
I feel Cassie stirring inside me but I ignore her. I already know what she's going to tell me and even though I didn't like the way Elliot "warned me" (note the quotation marks), it doesn't mean he's wrong.
Obviously, those texts are suspicious and maybe it's a trap. It's probably a rogue who's going to come and meet me, but that doesn't mean he's got bad intentions.
Although rogues are often lonely beasts who enjoy plunder and terrorize packs, we tend to forget that many of them did not choose this life.
Violent pain in my left leg brings me out of my thoughts. I touch it but feel nothing. Cassie is so agitated that she breaks the barrier I had set up.
*"It's Elliot! He's hurt!"*
I frown. *"That's impossible. Unmarked mates can sense when the other is with someone else but not if he has a problem. And certainly not his or her pain."*
*"I'm telling you it's him! We have to go and help him!"*
I don't have time to say anything when she takes control and moves towards the Red Moon pack. She is completely crazy.
*"Where do you think we are going?"*
*"To find mate."*
*"Oh yeah? And how are you going to do that? Kindly ask their guards to escort us to him? What are you going to tell them? ‘Let me pass I'm your future Alpha's mate and he just hit his leg on the corner of a piece of furniture. I'm here to make sure he doesn't need an ice pack’."* I say ironically.
*"We won't ask anyone for anything we'll force our way through."*
I stop dead in the middle of the road but I don't care. She'll get us killed.
*"We can't just do that. It would be taken as a declaration of war."* She's so freaked out that I pull out my phone, ready to type a message to Elliot asking if he's okay, just to reassure Cassie.
*"You're so selfish!"* She screams with rage. *"Mate is hurt and you're not even worried. You don't care about him!"*
I frown. *"I do, I just..."*
*"You know what Alice? I wish the Moon Goddess had given me to someone other than you!"*
Her words are like a dagger in my heart. I am breathless and tears come to my eyes.
*"Cassie .... "*
*"NO! You are so stubborn that it's impossible to talk with you! You know what? I hope Elliot rejects us so he can get a second chance mate who's worthy of him! And you'll have to watch him live happily without you!"*
I'm so stunned by the violence of her words that I don't see the car coming towards me. I turn my head and the last thing I see is blinding headlights followed by excruciating pain.
Then nothing.
