Chapter 67: The offer

**Alice’s Point of view**

I move slowly on a very comfortable bed. We finally managed to find the bedroom with this huge bed in which, I confess, we did not sleep much.
He woke me up several times during the night for this new need that we couldn't seem to satisfy. No matter how many times or in what position, I feel like I can't get enough.
He sleeps beside me, breathing deeply. I stroke his cheek and then his lips with my fingertips, drawing a moan from him.
Knocks are heard at the front door. I move an inch away from him, but Elliot's arms close around me to crush me against his chest.
"Where do you think you're going?"
More banging can be heard.
He growls. "I can't believe it. I said I didn't want anyone to disturb us."
The person knocks harder.
"Leave it. They will go away." He says with a growl.
I giggle. "They wouldn't bother us if it wasn't important." I say, pushing him with the flat of my hand.
He grumbles but finally lets go of me. I quickly put on one of the outfits he took for me and open the door on a very elegant man.
"Alpha Alice. The King wishes to see you today. You are expected with Alpha Elliot in the King's office in one hour."
I thank him and leave to warn Elliot, who pesters as he gets ready. I can hear him muttering ‘never alone’ or 'I'm going to kidnap her and take her to a deserted island’ and I find it adorable.
We arrive one hour later at the Castle where our friends wait for us to congratulate us. They also have mark and mate in the night and I have never seen Sam and Melanie so happy.
They accompany us to the King's office where they leave us, wishing us good luck.
We knock and find the King, Queen and Benjamin sitting behind the desk. We bowed our heads and took our seats in front of them.
The King gives us a big smile. "Elliot, Alice. What a pleasure to see that you finally mate. I wanted to thank you again, especially you Alice, for what you did to protect us."
"No need to thank us." I simply say. "I only did my duty."
"Perhaps. But not everyone did." He says harshly, turning to Benjamin.
He continues to look ahead, impassive. I notice however a movement of his jaw which lets me believe that the reproaches of his father do not leave him indifferent.
"But that is not why I asked you to come." Resumes the King. "I wanted to talk to you about the future of your packs. Now that you are mates, how do you plan to lead?"
"We haven't talked about it yet, to be honest." Says Elliot, looking at me.
"I heard that Alice does not want to be Luna, but Alpha." Says the King looking at me. "Have you changed your mind?"
I hesitate and decide to be honest. "No."
Against all odds, he smiles. "So here's my proposal. Give up leading your packs, leave it to your Betas or your Gammas and join the Royal Guard, as your status as a General requires."
Elliot does not need to consult me for my opinion. "We thank you, Your Majesty, but that's not what we want. This is our home and our packs need us. If we come together, peace will finally reign."
"How will you lead then? There cannot be two Alphas. Nor two Betas or Gammas."
"We'll figure it out." I say softly.
The King nods, his hands clasped. "If that is what you want, so be it. We will have to come up with a new name for this new pack. Here is my second proposal. It is Benjamin's idea."
Ben takes a step forward. "We've been thinking about a solution for the Silvers and after some thought, we think it would be best if you were their new leaders."
We gasp and exchange a look. "That's not possible." Says Elliot. "That's a huge area. Even our two packs together would make us the largest pack in the world so with the Silvers' territory on top of it..."
They frown and exchange a look. "Don't you want more power?" The Queen asks.
"It's not a question of power but proportion. We would be far too powerful, it would be out of proportion to the other packs. Many will be jealous and want to take it over. Many will want to form alliances. Fear may set in." I explain.
The King nods. "Yes, we have thought about it, but we do not want a third party. We have seen what has happened in the last decades. We prefer to entrust this land to trusted people to ensure peace in this region."
I exchange a look with Elliot who nods.
"Very well. We will accept only if the Silvers agree with this idea."
"Wonderful!" The King says. "You can leave tonight and tell your fathers that you will take over the role of Alpha at the official mating ceremony, even though you are theoretically not old enough to take over. We want the merger of the packs to happen as soon as possible."
We nod our heads in respect and leave the office, heading for our rooms to let our friends know. A few hours later, the private jet takes off to take us home.
"Our dads are not going to be happy." I say.
Elliot intertwines our fingers and kisses my hand. "That's for sure. But we'll be fine as long as we stay together."
I smile and kiss him tenderly. "Yes. We'll be fine."
