Chapter 35: Finally a name

**Elliot’s Point of view**

"So she didn't live happily ever after?" I say and he shakes his head. "Don't tell me her second mate rejected her too!"
"No, on the contrary. From what I heard he took great care of her. He was the perfect mate for her." He says in a bitter tone. I wonder if deep down he's not a little jealous. She was his fated mate after all, it's normal that he was attached to her.
I wonder then if I too will be able to turn the page if Alice rejects me but I quickly push back the idea. I don't give up trying to change her mind.
"What went wrong?"
"She killed herself, right after they marked each other." He says in a small voice.
I frown. "I don't understand. It's kind of a good thing, it would have helped her rebuild even more."
"That's just it. I think she was too broken. After they mate and mark, she went back to her family to tell them the good news and fought with her father Alpha Adam. He was suffering from Violet's death and said awful things to Vivian. I've learned later that someone had followed us to the hotel and at the time it was very frowned upon for a woman to not be a virgin and give herself to someone other than her mate so he was furious when he found out she had mate and mark with her second mate chance after she spent a night with me."
"Yes, well technically she only mated with her mates."
He shakes his head. "I agree that there is a statute of limitations, but as I told you, there was too much anger in him. He insulted her among other things and all I know is that a few hours later he found her dead where Violet had killed herself."
I remain silent for a moment. "That's pretty poetic I guess." He nods but says nothing. Suddenly, I remember what my mother said about our three packs almost tearing each other apart.
"What happened after she killed himself? Her mate must have gone crazy."
"Yes, he lost his mind. He came to confront us, alone. He was mostly mad at me because I broke her and also at Alpha James because he blamed him for Violet's death. Alpha Adam also wanted us dead so he didn't intervene at first."
"At first?"
"Vivian's mate said that he was the one who was most responsible because she was fine before she went to see him. So he decided to kill all three of us to avenge her. We cornered him downtown."
"Downtown? But we have no authority there!" I exclaim.
"I know. The four of us knew that, that's why he lured us there I guess. We fought. We all got hurt." He pauses.
"Did you kill him?"
After a long moment, he shakes his head. "Alpha James and Alpha Adam wanted to but I talked them out of it. His only crime was being broken. He didn't deserve to die. He swore he'd never set foot in here again so we let him go."
"And Alpha Adam?"
"He was too angry with us to continue keeping the peace. The King was afraid he would even try to turn us against each other more so he asked Alpha Vincent to take over the role of Alpha even though he wasn't old enough yet."
"And Viviane's mate. Who was he?"
"Alpha Thomas from White Mountain pack."
"Do you think he moved on?"
He shakes his head. "No, he never had a Luna and has no heir. But he kept his word and was never heard from again."
That's it! All the pieces of the puzzle fall into place. Back then he made the mistake of coming alone. Now he's made sure he has an army to attack us. And he knows exactly where to press to hurt us.
Viviane may have told him about the tensions between us and the Blues, even though it's no secret. And that explains why the rogues made us think it was the Blues behind it and vice versa.
He must want Grandpa, Alpha James and Alpha Adam to suffer by taking away the two things that are most important to them: their territory and their future, which is Derek, Alice and me.
It all adds up!

**Unknow's Point of view**

My phone rings and I'm surprised by the name on the screen.
"Rudy. I'm glad to see you're okay. I thought you were dead." I say in a threatening tone.
"Sorry. We had a problem and a bitch slit my throat." He growls.
"Talk."
"Remember the ones that attacked us downtown? Well, we managed to catch them but they got away but we know that they work in the Royal Guard and were sent by the King to solve, I quote, the rogue problem." He says with a laugh. Goddess, I hate that guy.
"Now we know why they are so good and that's probably why we haven't seen them since. Do you have their name or a picture?"
"Yeah. Sapphira and Cooper. She was hot with her black hair and blue eyes. Well built, not too tall. Bigmouth though. The guy had red hair and green eyes."
I straighten up. It can't be. It can't be them!
I quickly lookup a picture of Alice and Elliot on the internet and send it to him.
"Yes, it's them! No doubt about it."
I feel that he is convinced of what he is saying and I am shocked. What the hell were they doing there together?
"You know where I can find that bitch? I have some scores to settle with her."
I growl. "No, she's too important. She's going to play an important role in the future, nothing must happen to her."
"What about Cooper?"
"Do what you want with him, I don't care."
It would even be best for me.
"They're going to go to the Castle soon to try to get along and fix the problem as they say. It's been a few days since the attacks have been weaker and it has to continue that way." I add.
"Why don't you join us with your pack and deliver the knockout blow? We could win."
"Yes, but we can't do anything until the last obstacle has been swept away."
He huffs. "We're losing time. Every night they kill my wolves and we get weaker. I say we attack them right away before we get too weak."
"Who the hell do you think you are?" I yell in my Alpha tone. "Have you forgotten who you are talking to? You will do as I command!"
I hear him grit his teeth. "Yes."
"Yes, who?"
"Yes, my King."
